Splinter Cell: ConViction

How do you get weapons upgrade points? I got a decent amount in the mansion level, but when I checked the crate towards the end of the level where you escape the military base I had basically nothing. I was doing a number of stealth kills too.

I have a ****load of points...you get them for different things, mark and executing 2 or more targets, vanish challenges, you won't get dick just doing hand to hand kills

the game taunts you to replay it, youll finish a section and hear sam Say "could've handled that better"

lol yeah.

You get points by completing the P.E.C. Challenges. They break up the P.E.C. challenges in three different sections, too. So, you'll get like 780 P.E.C. points for pretty much ghosting a level, and another challenge gets you about the same amount for ghosting a level without shooting anyone with manual aim or M&E.

Im trying for the "take out an enemy silently while he checks your last known position" one

Just beat the singler player campaign last night.

Holy **** was it awesome. Hands down the best story from any of the Splinter Cell games. The game gets nuts to, but yet they focus on small moments enough to add weight to the pretty high octane story itself.

Can't wait for the sequel.

So whats some theories you have for a potential sequel?

They can take it slow, or go into quickly, but there's a nice opening for them to do some familar stuff.

Sam was a ****ing mess in Double Agent and much of Conviction because he missed his daughter. Now that he has her back, he's got his humanity back...and I think he's got a voice on conscience too. We kinda saw how Sarah is the voice of morality for Sam, because I don't think he even thought about going to the White House until Sarah pleaded with him to help Grim for saving her life. He was willing to avoid the White House after the helicopter crash too, but again Sarah convinced him he needed to get to the White House.

I can see Sam working for Third Echelon again. Being brought back to wipe out Black Arrow and track down the Migito organization. We know Sam came into the Black Arrow facility to get Vic out...but who knows, maybe he's doing it officially? With support from the President.

I think Third Echelon will still live on, and this time the Director of Third Echelon will probably be Grim. She will probably replace Lambert as the heart and soul of Third Echelon, continuing to build upon what he started and try to redeem the group for what Reed did with it.

Third Echelon could become the left hand (if the Secret Service is the right hand) of the President of the United States, too. So, instead of them needing to go up the food chain and get apporval from the NSA itself or the Secretary of Defense...maybe Sam and Grim will have a direct line to the White House and take they're orders directly from the President.

That could be really cool.

The sequel could start out with Sam breaking Vic out, and then being wooed back by Grim and the President to then start to track down Migito. I think it was a very smart move, and I loved how they pulled it off, to bring back Sarah. Sam needs her, more than anything. I think her return leaves room for Sam to return to wetwork jobs for the government. I could see Vic joining in too, I really liked him.

Well you do get some points for hand to hand kills. Doing much better in the points area though now though, trying for the 10 kills without reloading, but I keep reloading by accident. Wish reloading had it's own button, not the push "L" stick crap

i'm playing on realistic and if he ever says that i restart at last checkpoint :woot:

If you want to get the 10 kills without reloading for the handgun and the assault rifle, I've found the end of the Third Echelon HQ mission is the best.

Sam goes into super beserker rage mode there. After THE "moment", he's in full on tank-mode. Reload before leaving the office room, and it should be easy. He doesn't waste a single bullet.

Berserker rage is putting it lightly....it's more like "I am going to ****ing shoot anything thats ****ing moving in the ****ing face" mode

Anything with a heartbeat was ****ed, all right.

Btw, I loved seeing how bloated and ****ing in "your face" Third Echelon became under Reed. Walking across the lobby floor and speaking to the secretary, with the lettering in the background saying "Welcome Home" was a cool moment.

Gotta say, overall...I was more than satisfied with the game and it was worth the wait for me. The ending was all kinds of awesome, and I was happy enough with the ability to be a ninja is most of the game. I've managed to do a decent enough job in Kobins Mansion that I think I could ghost through most of it until reaching Kobin's holding spot.

The Airfeild is tougher, but I think I found enough patterns and holes in the enemey defenses to be convinced that one could go undetected. I'm not sure if one could go through it with no body count, though.

I too was a bit concerned that the game would lose the stealth elements that made the others great...but it tweaks it a bit and the game works

and the sonic goggles....how did I ever live without them??

I got the 10 kills with a handgun without reloading before that part over the weekend, should've really used an assualt rifle during the escape from 3rd echelon though to complete the 15 kills with an assault rifle challenge.

I really liked the single player...getting through the White House is so tense...I love the way the music had cuts of presidential speeches woven in

it is a bit short, but I can blow through Chaos Theory in about the same amount of time

Yea i thought the same. I think the reason past SC titles lasted longer was because stealth wasnt an option, it was law. I felt the single player was of a good length. I got past it my frist run through in about 8 hours.

Im going to try replaying Third Echelon HQ and Whitebox later tonight...see how that goes

I'm replaying Whitebox...I'm pretty sure those two scientists getting killed execution style are beyond saving. They still seem to catch slugs, no matter what I do.

The Whitehouse was tense, because of the carnage of it all. Hearing the screams of agony, of people begging for they're lives and mercy were real mood setters.

Yeah, I tried once. I even ran straight for the door to barge it open and they kind of just drop dead as soon as you get there lol.

Finished the single last night, really liked it, although the *********s in the helmets were really pissing me off. Gonna try deniable ops tonight or this weekend, are they kind of like the challenge modes in Modern Warfare and Arkham Asylum? Hope not quite as difficult though.

Deniable Ops are kinda like MW2 and AA chellenges merged, I guess, but with stealth.

The maps are pretty lengthy, and they can be pretty challenging.

I just managed to get the P.E.C. Challenge of Advanced Stealth. On the Whitebox Laboratories level, of all places. Killed alot of dudes to get it too.

I have managed to go undetected through the Lincoln Memorial too. Hiding out in the bathroom until the getaway car got there really paid off.

I hid out up on the 2nd floor of the cafe near the road....2 people come up the stairs, you can take them out quietly and then jump out the window to get to the car

lol I hunted them down, yous are not worthy of being Sam!! :p

I just played through the co-op campaign on realistic in like, 4 hours... that ending... OoOOh My GoDd!! Did anyone else finish it?

I went from cover to cover on the ground floor, and I saw my buddy hop over a railing and hide. I popped out of cover and shot him in the chest 5 times lol.

Sooo cool.
