Nope. Loved it. To me it was the redeeming part of that final fight scene (which I didn't really enjoy much).

I love it when a movie like this does something that you wouldn't expect for the betterment of the story. Makes the danger more real.

Plus, Magneto can fix him right up before Sentinel action in DOFP

The bone claws are so natural and animalistic than I can't help but love them. I hope that he keeps them, and I kind of liked the final fight.

When SS was about to cut his claws the first time I cringed. Such an integral part of the character and it would suck if they went through with it. BUT THEN they had the balls to actually go through with it! It was sweet! But in a sad way. I was waiting to see if his bone claws would grow back. Thank god they did.

Wow. If that's true then the explanation is wolverine : origins bad. Adamantium bullet vs adamantium skull all over again. News flash Fox: primary adamantium cannot damage primary adamantium! And adamantium that is set is immune to any and all heat! Jeez.....barring a supernova I guess.

Was shocking and you felt it, superbly done.

The third act needed some good points and this was one of them, never fond of the bone claws until this film.

What I love about the whole bone claws situation is that it plays thematically into the film big time. But, if you discount Origins Wolverine and just use the flashbacks from X-Men and X2 as the official backstory of Logan, seeing the bone claws for the first time in this film is really interesting. It doesn't feel out of place.

I know it technically ties into Origins Wolverine but because that's the only thing they reference from that movie, I think it plays as a nice revelation for people who haven't seen that film or who just discount it....like me.

It isn't the only reference from that movie. Not at all.

The WWII scene is a reference to X-Men Origins: Wolverine establishing him as a member of all the various wars.

There is a reference to Kayla in the movie. In fact her name is specifically stated.

And of course the bone claws are taken directly from Origins.

You can't even say that there's a benefit of having a stronger healing or being less vulnerable to Magneto since he still has the skeleton...So dumb.

I am not that bothered by the removal, but felt unnecessary, imo removing his healing felt enough for character development and also Adamantium is kinda his trademark.

It served THIS movie to have his claws removed. THIS movie. I don't understand the mentality of not using certain scenes because maybe they can sort of possibly do them better later on. Why would it need to be in DOFP? It could have been saved for a future film. It would fit that story because Magneto is the staple X-Men villain. He and Wolverine have a history together now. Most importantly Magneto has the ability to make it happen and it would be believable.

Wolverine lost his claws in this film as part of some ridiculous scheme to drill into his bones and suck out his healing powers via a giant robot. This is the adamantium bullet all over again except this time since fanboys decided they would love this movie before it was released, this terrible plot device has been given a pass.

Yes, but they have no reference in the movie universe until X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

That movie established, in the movie universe, that his claws are originally made of bone. Thus, their usage in this movie was capitalizing on the fact that X-Men Origins: Wolverine already established bone claws into the movie universe and that the time period of WWII was before he got the adamantium skeleton and claws.
