On Thursday's State of Play, it will be announced that Tony Hawk Remastered will have Spider-Man exclusively on the PS4.

That's not fair for Xbox gamers like myself. I hate this exclusive rights bullcrap especially by Sony. I really wished Disney would just outright buy back Spider-Man and his entire supporting characters back.

Not everybody can get two consoles and we shouldn't be forced to choose one because of exclusives. Maybe he prefers xbox but Spidey happens to be one of his favorite heroes

Yeah, that's not really a good approach to take. I own a PS4 and a Switch, but prefer to play on PC. Xbox/PC consumers will be paying for the same product, yet we will get the inferior one? Big yikes.

What if the warrior class in the next Elder Scrolls were to be exclusive to Xbox? "Well, get an Xbox!"

If people are okay with anti-consumer practices like content exclusives, then what's next? Feature exclusivity?

I am going to say that the rights involved are a bit more complicated than just an exclusivity deal. The most likely scenario is that Sony threw wads and wads of cash to get Spider-man as an exclusive.

I'm curious how they are going to incorporate Spidey into the Avengers story-line. And if this DLC character is exclusive to only one platform, just how extensive is his DLC story-line going to be? Is his content going to feel largely disconnected from the overall story?

I hope he doesn't just feel like a "guest character" who doesn't seem to belong to the existing game world, as is often the case with guest characters.

I mean there's gotta be incentives for people to play on one console over the other. Console wars, baby.

They have said the plot will continue to expand so I imagine there will be more characters to move the story forward.

A bigger consideration is whether this nixes crossplay. Which is not a great idea.

Exclusive characters/skins are not inherently bad. But you have to use lesser characters. Spider-man is big enough that it is going to cause major bad feelings.

The exclusivity should have been a skin than a major character. Include Spidey in all platforms but have the PS4 game's suit an exclusive skin

In general, this year is probably not the best time to ask customers to shell out $400-$500 (or more) on a new gaming console, plus $1000s of dollars on a new gaming tv, storage, accessories, games, etc.

But that's why the "one console" decision will be even more important. And exclusives, like them or not, will factor into that decision.

Say what you will about Sony, but they are showing that they are still being aggressive when it comes to securing exclusive games and exclusive content for their Playstation gamers. This only gives more reasons to stick with Playstation or strongly lean towards Playstation if you're still on the fence.

MS, for whatever reason, has just not been as aggressive in securing exclusives, both games and content, for the past 4-5 years or so.

Yeah I definitely think MS is thinking hard about buying WB games. It does suck for peeps with Xbox only cause they didn’t get Spider-man ps4 and won’t even get to play him in this. Is this how Disney is gets to keep Spidey in the MCU?
