Superman Returns SR Novelization is Now Available!!(SPOILERS IN HERE)

Matt said:
Movie books are usually a bit on the weak side. Some second rate author who can't write using bland, repetitive descriptions (for example, I bet he describes Superman as having lightning fast speed, reflexes, etc or some variant of it at least six times in the book) adapting someone elses work because his attempts at "storys" have been rejected time and time again by publishers.
Just so you know, the SR novelization is written by Marv Wolfman, one of the best comic book writers of all time.

Ok, here is one of Superman, than I am going to go scan as many per page as I can. I may be gone a while doing so, but rest assured, Snake will come through for you guys.

Nice, but that kind of re-enforces the notion that it will be bad. Comic writing is ten times different than novel writing. Has he written a novel before?

Yeah Matt, tell that to Elliot Maggin and Greg Rucka. Or Neil Gaiman.

He wrote the Crisis on Infinite Earths novelization. And saying comic book writers can't write novels isn't entirely true; Greg Rucka has written several successful novels, Denny O'Neil has written more than one, Neil Gaimen, Brad Meltzer, and it's just plan hilarious to hear you say "[Marv Wolfman's] attempts at "storys" have been rejected."

Thanks for doing this. Great pic!

The 6th Sense Novelization was done by the director- MNS. It was definitely worth a read. However, Matt's comment about movie novel writers may be based on SM3 and 4 which based on the reviews I read recently were definitely worth missing.

I'm just saying, its a different art. For the three you named there are countless who failed the transition.

I wasn't aware who wrote it at the time.

Ok, I have official ordered the book from WalMart.com! I should have it in a couple days!

Ok, we all expect a scan of EVERY page!

:D:D

Check your local stores. Amazon.com has this available for sale, so the release of this book is confirmed. Also, Target.com has it for sale.

So, in the comming days, a lot of people will spoil the whole movie for them selves...I`ll make sure i don`t read spoilers of the end of the movie...

I wouldn't bet on finding the answers in the novelization. Let's not forget the ending of the X2 novel was different than that of the actual movie. Jean lived in the former, died in the latter.

There is always the possibility of some differences between the two. But the novel is guaranteed to answer most questions, and spoil most of the movie!

To be fair, any review of the book as a book will be negative because any author who writes a movie book is a hack.
So I guess Denny O'Neil must be a real hack.

I want to read the book, but not until after I see the movie - I don't want to be that spoiled (and I'm kind of worried about different endings). I may have to abandon SHH until the movie comes out. But I'm not sure if I have the will-power,

well, if it's put up, put it in spoiler text.

Im curious, but have to agree movie novels are very fickle things, some are dead on, some are better than the finished film, and some are just crap.

But hey, the Hulk novel helped change my perspective on the film, and it was a bit better in some parts. But the final film ended up having major discrepencies with the Novel.
