Superman Returns SR wins Five Saturn Awards

Good movie but not great, never the less it deserves it.

just like how WB bought the best newcoming male award for brandon routh before SR even released. :cwink:

Why is it that whenever SR picks up an award, people cry "fix!" and "It's a conspiracy!"

The Saturns may not be as prestigious as the Oscars or Golden Globes, but an award is an award. In addition, the Saturn Awards are voted on by members of the ACADEMY of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films.

Also, the two awards (Best Film and Best Male Newcomer) the UK's Empire Magazine handed out were voted on by fans. So were the Spike Scream Awards. So are the MTV Movie Awards (I know, the film didn't pick up any nods).

Here's a list of some of the Committee members:

Oh, look! On the Direction Committee is none other than...Bryan Singer! And the DVD Commitee has Robert Meyer Burnett (SR's videographer)! What a shocker!

Oh! must be the only place that people liked SR! Baaaaaazing!!!

It would make sense. General consensus on the planet Earth is that SR was a good movie. Add the whole planet Saturn. Most of Earth + All of Saturn = you pwned youself.

lol anyone else have any questions how or why SR won these fixed awards?
hahaha Man Bryan Singer is dippin into a new low now! Trying to make his movie seem like a success by buying awards... haha

He should be ashamed of himself...

Actually just to correct (and improve) on what you say here, SR won Best 2006 Film and Best Male Newcomer in the Total Film READERS awards, AND, it won Best Male Newcomer in the Empire READERS awards. Yes :wow: shock, horror, the general public voted for these awards.

Evidently they didnt think SR was too bad :cwink: .

I dunno where you get your "moviegoing public" opinion, but movies the public hated don´t make it to 200m, especially when they didn´t have a massive opening, the movie gets pretty good rates from users of sites like RottenTomatoes, Yahoo Movies and IMDB. More importantly, WB would never sign a deal sequel with Singer if they perceived the movie as being rejected by the audience, and they keep a lot of track of these things. This notion that everybody hates the movie is basically a fabrication of pissed fanboys.

Wow, Bryan is a member of the committee...well I guess that could explain alot.

Then again this award show also gave Famke Janseen BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS for X3! WTF, all she had was 10 lines and the rest of the film she just looked into the camera like a zombie...and she gets BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS!

What the hell is a saturn award?

Exactly.

You will never see "Saturn Award Winner of Best Picture" on the back of a DVD case.(with the exception of Uwe Boll films) Why? Well you can take a guess...

First of all, who came up with the "rigged" theory said Singer´s influence was on the nominees choice, not the winners... If he´s so powerful, how come the movie didn´t win all 12 awards it was nominated for?

Even more hilarious, NOBODY on the boards said anything bad about the Saturn Awards when Spider-Man 2 and Batman Begins were major winners...

I wasn't on these boards when Spidey 2 came out nor do I even remember Begins winning saturns, you see, most people don't care about saturn awards to give them much recognition. But if their competition was crap like Garfield and Eragon I'm sure someone would have said something.

But hey, I will fully agree, that Superman returns was much better than Eragon and Garfield a Tale of 2 Cats.

Easy there Mr Socko! Garfield a Tale of 2 Cats is a very underrated film! :woot:

if superman would win an oscar then oscars would be important to superman fasn. since it didnt win an oscar oscars are dumb.
the same with the saturn awards.

i dont personal care for awards.

but if i understand this right SR win an award because it was teh best in hes category right? sounds good.

I think you got to the crux of the matter dark b. :)

Just for the record I have taken a crap on Oscars since always, no matter who they - always accidentally - favors.

I put the Academy Awards on the hack list when Return of The King won 11 awards.

It was an amazing film, but 11 Oscars? F***ing ridiculous.

Begins main competition was King Kong, by the way. The nominees this year included Children Of Men, The Prestige, V for Vendetta, Casino Royale...

For some people all awards are hack awards, in many ways I respect the Saturns more than the Oscars, cuz they know to put the movies in the categories they belong, sci-fi movies run with sci-fi movies, action with action and so forth.

It's good that they actually have categories for science fiction and fantasy as well as other categories that get ignored by most awards.
