It just means that many people saw it, but in terms of the movie going audience, not so much. Considering that ticket sales here are $10.00 a ticket, that ain't much. Superman The Movie made more than it with less theaters, and a way lower ticket sales. Adjusting for today's tickets, Superman the movie made Spiderman 3 numbers. There is a post I show with a link to a site that does ticket adjustments from ticket prices of yesteryear to today.
The facts are that SR opened strongly whereever it opened, but then a week later, it would consitently have a drastic drop, and then all but disapear completely. This means that most of it's money was made in it's first weekend whereever it opened around the world from people who go to see the big new movie. But then after that, bad WOM did it in. It consitently would mave a huge drop the second week and then pretty much disapear shortly after that. Even in the US it was playing in empty theaters weeks after it opened.
So this means it did not have a huge fan base.
If the movie doesnt have a huge fanbase, and let EVERYONE down, how do you explain the fact that it won BEST 2006 MOVIE (yes ahead of all other 2006 movies) in the Total Film Readers (yes READERS, as in EVERYONE who reads the magazine and web-site voted in these awards) Awards, in which thousands of movie fans voted.
And also explain how, if what you say is true, in the thread 'Best Comic Book Movie Ever 2006 Edition' SR came 5th out of over 20 choices?
Please, the movie didnt let everyone down at all, now if you didnt like it, fine, i can accept that, but please dont claim everyone shares your views.
