I love the Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon idea.
Word around the halls is that Disney is in negotiations with Ewan McGregor for an unknown project. But from a source commenting on some of the more interesting conversations happening behind closed doors, its for McGregor to once again transform into the venerable Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
This is nothing new as far as rumors are concerned. The mill has been churning in regards to a stand-alone Obi-Wan story for a while now; reported by the likes of our good and trusted friends over at Screen Rant (via a report by Making Star Wars). In fact, many people and colleagues have been hearing rumblings of Obi-Wan not being done in the Star Wars Universe. And now, according to this source, Disney has been courting Ewan McGregor not to be a force ghost, but for a post-Episode III Kenobi. They go on to add theyve heard from multiple people that Disney wants an Obi-Wan Kenobi TRILOGY of films, outside of the Anthology series. This adds some credence to a past story found at Cinelinx who had previously reported the same rumor.
You wouldn't need to recast Liam, he has barely aged. Obi-Wan could be recast, a film about them could be set some 5-8 years before Episode I, considering he was relatively young at that time, in this timeline he would look much different than he did in Phantom Menace.
If they're courting Ewan seems to me like they're going with something post ROTS.
Yeah, Mac Gregos hasn't aged much, but he still looks like an older man than he did in Episode I, i think for that they should go with an younger Obi-Wan.
I think stopped aging 10 years ago.
I would love a set of obi wan films.
I would also love to see at least one more film of Vader and the emperor after episode 3. Perhaps they could tie it to Rebels. But Ian is so great as the emperor and Jones as the voice of Vader, it would be a shame not to utilize them while we still can.
They spent $4 billion. They want their investment back.
I'm sure once the marketing for the films start, interest will rise. I'm pretty certain the general public does care about Han Solo, at the very least.
Because, you know, only Connery could portray James Bond.
And I think only this forum places superheros as the great genre over everything else. I think evidence has shown that superheroes are not the only thing attractive to the general audience.
