EA Star Wars: Battlefront II

So basically, even if they all are 10,000, that is the equivalent of unlocking Luke or Vader by themselves before this "update".

This was the ****ing plan all along. :funny:

It's still bull **** regardless of a price drop. Supporting these practices does nothing but hurt the industry long term.

I wonder if this was EA's decision, or LFL saw the ****storm and decided to step in.
No, this was the plan. They put it at an outrageous number, so when they showed the still rather BS number, they would get credit for cutting it.

They shouldn't have to be unlocked in the first place, they're a huge part of the games selling point, just let people play as them from the start.

They are the selling point. They start all their trailers and commericals with the heroes for a reason.

New cost:
Luke and Vader: 15,000

Leia, Chewie, and Sheev: 10,000

Iden: 5,000

There was an article I was reading today saying the issue might not be that EA was intentionally trying to frustrate players into making purchases, but that they had no idea within their own game how long it would take to unlock the hero characters.

I'll wait until the free Jawa DLC.

It just seems ridiculous that they want us to pay $60-$70 to buy the game, then have to either pay up more or stay glued to it for the equivalent of an entire work week just to unlock characters that feature prominently in the game trailers? How is that to appeal to a casual gamer who just wants to play a Star Wars game?

They shouldn’t. I ger the rational as it’s part of the reward system and gives you something substantial to progress towards

Maybe they should just focus on making a fun enough game that the players don't need to be baited with locked content to keep playing. If they want to lock content behind levels and credits I don't think it should be anything as substantial as iconic characters that the game is marketed with, People playing the game have invested at least $60 into it just to play it, locking part of the reason they bought it in the first place is a gaming practice that I think should be frowned upon.

They cut the cost of the hero unlocks, but it also looks like they cut the value of rewards as well:

Due to last-second changes to Star Wars Battlefront II's hero costs, I decided to hold my review, and won't post it until I have firm grasp on the new flow of the game. Electronic Arts clearly heard the uproar from the gaming community about the inflated costs of heroes, and slashed their prices by 75 percent. This is not a small tweak. It completely changes my take on the game – moving from an evil time sink to potentially reasonable. I need to dive back into all of the modes to see if any other changes were made.

For instance, during my review, completing the campaign earned players a unique loot crate that contained 20,000 credits. That reward is now 5,000 credits. A big change. What else is different? I need to find out. One thing I hope EA is addressing is Arcade rewards; after completing five challenges, I was alerted that I could no longer earn credits in this mode and that more would be available in 14 hours.

That downvote is approaching 600,000. :wow: The previous record holder was 24,000, and that was from someone who asked to be downvoted. :funny:

All this multiplayer loot box drama must have a lot of people hankering for a high quality, story driven, single player experience in the Star Wars Universe. Good thing they have one of those in the pipeline right?... Oh wait

Judging by the comments on my review (and the recent activity on Reddit) EA has a real problem on its hands with the monetization model they’ve attached to this INCREDIBLE game!

BS. That is them covering their asses.

Oh, **** off EA.

Apparently the refund button has been removed from the customer panel... :sus

It's apart of the "games as service" model that's meant to encourage limitless gameplay. But what it actually does is hold the player at gunpoint and forces them to dump more money into it in order to play the game they already paid full price for. Instead of free to play/pay to win, it's pay to play/pay to win. :o

Anyone think this could be a big moment for the whole industry? Gamers have been complaining about this **** for a few years now. But this is Star Wars, it's gone mainstream.

Glad I was skeptical of this from the start. It was only a matter of time until EA's schemes were revealed, they just can't keep their hands out of your wallets. It still looks like an improvement on the first in terms of gameplay. I'll probably pick it up second hand.

Perhaps it will be on sale for Black Friday. I will wait and see as knowing my luck I buy it and its like 20% off next week lol.

I haven't seen any place that it'll be on sale for Black Friday. If it does go on sale I'd imagine it'd be a bit closer to the release of The Last Jedi.

I'll they had to do follow Overwatch's model. That's the hilarious part of all this, had all of this **** just been cosmetic, the majority of players would not care.
