This thread is for spoiler-free speculation. Don't come in here posting spoilers. Don't sneak spoilers in disguised as "theories." This is a safe zone.

Discussions of trailers, images, and official promo material is fine. Don't discuss leaked material however.

Leia dies. Badly. Brutally. By Rey.

Under the manipulation of Snoke, who is then revealed to be Jar Jar trying to avenge his friend.

Psylockcolossus deems your theories to be unlikely.

I've already been tainted by some spoilers, but I'll speculate on a few things I don't know so much about.

1) The knights of Ren are being manipulated by a Sith Lord. I don't think Kylo will be a Vader-level villain... I think he wants to be, but he's a kid playing dress up compared to a real Sith Lord. The actual threat is someone else.

2) Rey is Luke's daughter, Kylo is Han and Leia's son. I can't explain why I think this exactly but I believe its important for there to be another Skywalker (not just a "Solo") and Rey is the prime candidate. Luke may be in exile because he broke his vows by falling in love, or maybe Rey's mother was killed and he was tempted by the dark side so put himself in isolation to overcome that darkness. While its possible Rey and Kylo are siblings, I think its more likely they are cousins... the sibling thing was done already in the Old Trilogy. And it just makes sense that Han and Leia would have a child.

3) The Force Awakens implies a return to a more mythological presentation of the Force (i.e. not a scientific one, "midichlorians"). Speaking of the "will of the Force" and of destiny is an easy way to explain the sorts of chance meetings and coincidences that will bring our heroes together.

4) Leia is not a Jedi and did not receive Jedi training (judging from the trailer she seems to have taken more of a New Republic leadership role). But she does know where Luke is (maybe she is the only one who knows).

Posting from the other thread, From someone not reading spoilers, I feel like Rey and/or Kylo will either be Leia's kids or Luke's (continuing the new films with the next gen of Skywalkers). Or cousins as mentioned above.

I feel like the reason we haven't seen any of Luke is that he has become a recluse (if they're his kids, maybe his wife was killed because of his own actions, which maybe him depressed? If not, I don't know what could make him a recluse, but I think it's more likely that than him being a force ghost and WAAAAAY more likely then him falling to the dark side).

That being said, I think around halfway through the film, we'll see him hooded (like in the trailer) and the first time we fully see him will be in that fight with Kylo and Finn and I think Luke will jump in to save him. I could see this fight either playing out much like it does with Obi and Vader, oooor he just straight up survives, ooooor he gets killed by Kylo or Andy Serkis's character which will make the audience go "OH ****!!!"

What if Leia DOESN'T know, but the way they find him is by her connecting with him through the Force like at the end of TESB??? :wow:

Yeah, I don't think Luke will (or has) fallen to the dark side. Just doesn't make sense for his character. Plus, it would be really repetitive to have him just recapitulate Anakin's arc. Not to mention it would cheapen or deflate his redemption of Anakin in the OT.

I'm hoping Luke is more analogous to Yoda than Obi-Wan, and will survive at least to the final film. I'd like him to pass away peacefully... he's more than earned it.

Good thread, Phantasm. If only someone had thought of it earlier. :argh:

Dang it! I thought for sure there wasn't another one.

This is probably what's gonna happen. Like Obi Wan felt the Alderaanian destruction in ANH.

Yeah I want to see more of Poe in the marketing. I know less about him than I suspect Finn or Rey. Not a bad thing, he just could use more exposure.

Too be fair, do to the plot, there isn't a lot of Poe in this film. I am not even sure he [BLACKOUT]ever meets Rey[/BLACKOUT].

Thanks for creating this thread. I've been wanting to discuss the film but afraid to encounter spoilers in the other thread. I also have the feeling Rey and Kylo are cousins. I'm wondering, is it possible to block memories with the force? Like perhaps Luke puts a block in Rey's memories that are removed at the end?

Yeah its possible.

I think part of the reason that they've been pushing Finn and Rey so much in the marketing is to appeal to younger audiences. Poe being the older character wouldn't fit that demographic as well.

I think that too.

But I'm staying here today to avoid the new trailer talk and gifs. I already saw a gif that I wish I didn't see. My fault really. But I must be strong.

If you want to avoid trailers stuff and gifs you'll have to avoid this website altogether.

And probably the internet.

Yeah you pretty much have to avoid the internet until the film comes out if you don't wanna see anything more or be spoiled.
