Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Just checked the website then...i'm just in love with how the character looks. So dark and evil. Plus his costume is almost a blend of Anakin ep3 and tiny bits of suit Vader.

Cool character design. I'm not too fond of the whole "secret apprentice" thing, but i'll reserve judgement for when i've seen more. Love the concept art. Been pretty stoked for a next-gen SW game ever since I saw that picture of a Star Destroyer crashing planet-side.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

The Star Wars saga continues this November in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, a videogame developed by LucasArts, which casts players as Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice" and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy. The expansive story, created under direction from George Lucas, is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. In it, players will assist the iconic villain in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi - and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny.
As its name implies, The Force Unleashed completely re-imagines the scope and scale of the Force by taking full advantage of newly developed technologies that will be seen and experienced for the first time: Digital Molecular Matter (DMM), by Pixelux Entertainment, and euphoria by NaturalMotion Ltd. Paired with the powerful Havok Physics™ system, these new technologies create gameplay only possible on the new generation of consoles. DMM incorporates the physical properties of anything in the environment so that everything reacts exactly like it should - wood breaks like wood, glass shatters like glass, plants on the planet Felucia bend like plants on the planet Felucia would, and more. Meanwhile, as a revolutionary behavioral-simulation engine, euphoria enables interactive characters to move, act and even think like actual human beings, adapting their behavior on the fly and resulting in a different payoff every single time.
Features

  • During the period between Episodes III and IV, players hunt Jedi in the role of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice.
  • Unleash and upgrade the Secret Apprentice's four core Force powers - Force push, grip, repulse and lightning - throughout the course of the game, and combine them for ultra-destructive, never-before-seen combos.
  • Examples of unleashing the Force in ways never thought possible:
    • The Secret Apprentice won't just Force push enemies into walls - he'll Force push enemies through walls.
    • The Secret Apprentice won't just Force grip foes to throw them aside - he'll Force grip them in midair, zap them with lightning, then drop them to the ground to explode like a bomb.
  • In addition to new adversaries created just for the game, such as fugitive Jedi and Force-sensitive Felucians, players will also confront and associate with familiar faces from the Star Wars films, including Darth Vader.
  • Visit locations such as Episode III's Wookiee homeworld Kashyyyk and the floral Felucia, the junk planet Raxus Prime, plus an Imperial TIE fighter construction facility.
  • Decisions made by players throughout the game will determine the path of the story, including multiple endings that will rock Star Wars continuity as they know it.
  • The Force Unleashed is LucasArts' first internally developed title for next-generation consoles, and it represents the first in-game collaboration of talents and technology between LucasArts and Industrial Light & Magic, two companies now finally under one roof at the new Letterman Digital Arts Center in San Francisco's Presidio district.
  • The Force Unleashed debuts Digital Molecular Matter from Pixelux and euphoria behavioral simulation from NaturalMotion Ltd.
  • LucasArts is preparing an unprecedented promotional effort around the launch of The Force Unleashed, encompassing a full line of toys and game-based action figures from Hasbro, as well as a full publishing program from Dark Horse, Del Rey and Palace Press.

Sounds freaking awesome

VERY COOL!!! I was hoping the character would have a cape too! Hopefully they get the cape to look and move as good as it did in Superman Returns: The Game! By the looks of the character and seeing him move, they already have!

I hope, besides the cool look, they also give him a cool name...

For those of you that didnt notice there are 2 videos about the engines they'll be using (Euphoria and DMM) and a production diary. The production diary doesnt reveal anything, besides that we will be playing as Darth Vader's secret apprentice, but they are going to be releasing a new one each week.

Yea this seriously looks bad ass. Like one other said, im not too crazy about the secret apprentice as i rather play as like a "rogue" jedi off for revenge against Vader but i think this is gonna be a really cool game.

A cool name is essential. I wonder will he be a "Darth".

I was wondering the same thing...We'll probably find out more about the story and the apprentice with next weeks production diary.

I like the idea of multiple endings. I wonder how many will they make and what will they be.

EDIT: They could have you killing the Emperor and then have Vader take his place with you as his apprentice, or they could have you kill Vader and become the Emperor's apprentice...There are a lot of cool possibilities.

Any word if we can create our own Dark Jedi, or if the one we see on the web site is the final version of the actually character?

The reason I ask is because with Knights 1 + 2, all screen shots showed a generic character, but we could all create one at the beginning.

Those were RPGs... this just ain't. There may be some customizability (think GTA) but making your own character is almost assuredly to RPG for this thing here... it'd be featured on the features list...

As for this game... I don't like it. Great tech involved, yes, but I don't enjoy the dark side. Period. Furthermore, the secret apprentice thing, well, it's cool in a way, but it can go wrong so easily, even if it starts off well... it just seems like the type of storyline that can backfire if not thought through completely to it's logical conclusion...

And no game has dared to rise to the challenge of lightsaber on lightsaber combat with constant blocking and one hit kills.

...hunt Jedi in the role of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice!...

...throughout the course of the game, and combine them for ultra-destructive, never-before-seen combos!.

...The Secret Apprentice won't just Force push enemies into walls - he'll Force push enemies through walls!...

...The Secret Apprentice won't just Force grip foes to throw them aside - he'll Force grip them in midair, zap them with lightning, then drop them to the ground to explode like a bomb!...

Shoot me now...

Looks great so far, I'd also like a Jedi option though as well.

The suit looks ace, but the face is a bit non-descript.

At the moment I have really high hopes for this game!

Damn, love the drawing of the apprentice kneeling before Vader. This is seriously going to be a bad ass game.

I can't believe I'm the only one projectile vomiting over this.

I presume Vader's apprentice will have a red lightsaber as well. Looking forward to actually seeing some in game footage!

I can't believe I'm the only one projectile vomiting over this.

Why? Because the Force powers will be extreme?
Its Star Wars and its a game. Plus they just because they didnt show Force powers beeing that powerful in the movies doesnt mean that they arent.

Looks like it'll essentially be a sequel to Jedi Academy (except that you're batting for the other team now)

I hope we have some kind of control over the narrative. I hate playing as the bad guys.

Vader's Apprentice has a Katana Lightsaber? I'm almost certain that blade was curved when he's force waving the trooper through the wall.

I'm hyped for this, definately. Though I can't help agreeing maybe it'd be better if you were a Jedi in exile, not a Sith Apprentice. I think generally, people prefer being the good guys, right?

I'll pass.
Give me a fantastic, mastered, top quality Battlefront 3.
