Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy Wishful Thinking Thread

Nathan Fillion was born to play the part of a Corellian a true scoundrel.
FINALLY, someone who agrees with me. :)

Except for the Brandon Fraser part.

I just thought I would see what it's like to be SWA...I don't like it...at all...as a matter of fact I don't think I could stand being him...even for pretendsies...

Phew. That's a relief. I was about to consider closing this thread because your request made more sense than his...

:)

Nathan Fillion would rock as Kyle Katarn in a Jedi Knight movie...but he is just not Han...close...but not Han. He is way too witty and Han always struck me as simple...not stupid, just simple.

If you could somehow marry Adam Baldwin's performance as Jayne with Nathan Fillion's performance as Mal, you would come very close to having a decent Han Solo.

No way. Jayne has not a single attribute Solo has. Jayne would sell out his friends to the authorities for a dime. And he thinks with his dick.

Which is exactly what Han started as...but he grew as a character...so did Jayne. Jayne even goes as far as to strap everyone else in and make sure they are alright...frantically mind you...as Serenity is falling from the sky before taking care of himself. There are subtle momments in the series and the film that let you know he is growing and caring about the people around him.

That wasn't what I meant anyway...I meant the plain way Jayne speaks, the simple manner...he is very off the cuff, plain speaking...as is Han. Mal on the other hand is witty, and complex...there is a lot going on under the surface...a complexity that Han doesn't have...but the charm and the heart of gold is there...so the balance between those two performances woyuld be about right. Fillion could do it, he just wouldn't be my first choice.

I can see where you're coming from now. Mal's swagger with Jayne's simplicity. Might work.

Danger Mouse could you please lock this thread? It's full of Brenden Frasier bashing...and I just can't take seeing this sort of thing. It hurts my delicate eyes, and burns my soul. Brenden Frasier movies cured my depression when my wife left me...just because a grown man watches Encino Man 12 times a day doesn't mean he's a loser. Brenden Frasier has never made a bad movie...it's just cool to say you don't like him. My dad gave me a beat up old Joe Pesci as a homeless guy doll when I was a kid...and I really wanted a Brenden Frasier doll with real college accessories...I was devastated...I can't bring myself to forgive him even now.

You are what the french call "le awesome".

I think I got half way through the second Thrawn book before giving up. They seemd to much like military pot boilers and lost the romance of Star Wars. Nathan Fillion as Kyle Katarn in a Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2 movie or miniseries seems like a damn good idea. That game was so cinematic, and the 7 dark jedi, 8t 88, getting the saber from trhe overrun family farm. It would look great on screen.

I agree, Fillion would make a brilliant Han Solo.

One last thing...Danger Mouse. Hi. Can we lock this? because Lucas has said in numerous ocassions that he is not going to make anymore Star Wars movies..I think it's pretty clear.

thanks and have a good night.

SWA

And Lucas said on numerous occassions that he would NEVER make a prequel trilogy. Lucas has said on numerous occassions that he would NEVER release the original trilogy uneditted on DVD. Lucas' word is as good as ****.

Trust me, when the Star Wars TV series fails (and it will)...Lucas will make the sequels. If there is a penny to be made, Lucas will do it.

Fillion would indeed make a great Han, but in the end, it'd still be too close to Mal for me to completely accept him as Han.

amen, reverend.

Thrawn is a pretty awesome character, but don't make the next trilogy ALL about him.

Thrawn could be the main villain, but not the main character.

And if they do do Episodes 7-9 PLEASE for the love of God include Kyle Katarn! I love KK! I want to see him lightsaber dueling....in live-action!

It would be interesting if Kyle was very similiar to Anakin, and Luke sees this and how Kyle could end up just like Darth Vader.

Replace Dooku and Grievious with him.

Dooku was good. He should have been a Jedi Master who was weary of Anakin's loyalty to the Order. Basically replace Dooku with Windu. Windu was there because of affirmative action.

Why not create a totally original story that takes place after all of the original characters are dead or too old to go traveling across the galaxy. Ben Skywalker should be the main character, and he's in his...ohh...early 60's

Yeah, coz if Thrawn's made the main character, then, so help us all, Lucas will make another prequel trilogy chronicling how he came to be from a prodigal slave boy.

It's from the TPB Star Wars: Visionaries. It's a collection of short stories by the creative force behind Star Wars.

That picture was from the story where Maul actually survived and went to hunt for Kenobi in Tatooine for a show-down shortly after ROTS.
Maul finally found the Lars homestead and terrorised them, forcing Kenobi to face Maul.

I won't spoil the rest of it if you plan on picking it up. :)

That's the only reason I wouldn't want him to do it, to me it'd just be Mal without the accent. I still stick with Fraser because I think he can pull off the same charm and wit that Harrison Ford put into Han Solo.

DM's has already told you, but yeah, I would've loved to see him instead of Grievous as well. It'd be a bit of a ridiculous return, yet it sorta like...fits with that whole b-movie thing Star Wars has always been about.
