A Frightful Four he has forcibly put together.

He's truly a sick f**k, and probably my prime example for why mind control is the scariest superpower.

eh, he might be a good laugh down the pub.

"How did Jimi Hendrix get my attention?

He shouted out a couple of Purple! hey!'s"

edit: omg, sorry, that was just the joke of an absolute sick ****, sorry about that guys, absolute nut case right?

I'm a fan. I liked this New Avengers appearance at the beginning of the series.

He's a cool character, Bendis really did him justice.

He should be an A-list villian.

Indeed

Or maybe a well liked B-Lister.
That's more like it, dunno how many A-List villains can resist his power

The thing that annoys me the most about Purple Man is the way he mind controls with pheromones. It just feels like some things aren't researched worth a damn. Even if you could mind control one person with a pheromone type it would have the opposite effect on other people. Everyone detects and reacts to opposing or similar pheromones depending on what they have, so I find most powers based on that silly. If you're just going to throw all science out the window just do me a favor and say it's magic, I'd be fine with that.

I don't know man, the fact that this:

Didn't happen to Banner when he got his by a wave of Gamma Radiation kinda means anythings possible. :o

The Mandrill
Hahaha he use to fight the defenders and daredevil and gave off Pheromones to enslave women( Now that!!!!.. is a freaking superpower!!) a monkey!!!man! again those dude were smokin some good stuff back then:cwink:

Or maybe a well liked B-Lister.
.. well then Electro should be a A since he was the one who bust all of their punk asses out the big house to begin with! everybody forget about that dude!:cwink:

..... and i love lectro!!

Yeah mandril and spiderwoman are the same. A scent that would effect one woman or man positively would just be repulsive to someone with similar signatures.

Radiation does wonderful and terrible things, Nubs. So I can give that a wave. But the pheromone thing would be like me having stinky poops that control the weather. It's just arbitrary, as if someone just watched one of those pheromone desperate guy commercials and used that as science.

NICE choices Spider! Gracias mi amigo! Next up, let's go with a team...

Avengers Academy

I got introduced to Reptil from Superhero Squad, loved the character ever since
Always liked Pym

Nothing to say about the rest but nice set of powers

Awesome, awesome, awesome. Best expansion of the Avengers concept while staying true to the classic Avengers' spirit so far, and a nice continuation/counterpoint to what Gage and Slott were doing with Avengers: The Initiative. Pym is a great choice to bring it all about, too. The characters had a lot of the annoying clichés of new superpowered teens at first, but Gage has given them enough depth to make them interesting. Veil was probably the most annoying character because of how much she wavered back and forth between being extremes, but she's gone now. I'm very much looking forward to what Gage does with the characters in the new class. Plus, Hawkeye as a teacher! :awesome:

^^^Exactly. Best Avengers book on the racks. It's in the top 3 out of all Marvel has to offer these days right up there with Punisher MAX and Uncanny X-Force. WORD.

I like it even though I haven't read a single issue in my life. :o

never read, dont have an opinion... and kinda dont care!

well that Lightning looking dude looks cool Spoons the next time i go to the store i will check it out. he looks bad ass! whats his name / power?

His name's Striker. Typical elec powers but he's kinda the team a-hole/gloryhog. His mother's exploiting him for fame and he just wants to be in the spotlight.

AVENGERS ACADEMY is a terrific Avengers book and one of my favorite comics right now, period. In fact I can't think of a Marvel comic I enjoy more - at times maybe ASM and DAREDEVIL, but not consistently. It has a brilliant mix of well written C and D list Avengers as well as new characters. Gage writes great characters as well as mines the past continuity for new tales. I'm a tad wary of the expansion, but Gage has juggled a cast of dozens in AVENGERS: THE INITIATIVE, so I'm not too worried. I have done a lot to try to get more people to get AA - something I had the pleasure of telling Gage himself when he signed comics at the NYCC. Off the top of my head I can think of about 3-4 people I talk to via AIM who read it because I recommended it. Almost every issue is reviewed at my Examiner column and it often is the Book Of The Week - it's filled the void in that manner that NOVA left.

I've liked Gage's work on AVENGERS ACADEMY more than I liked Slott's work on Avengers material, which says a lot. I'll read it 'till the end. And, hell, the book will last beyond a 25th issue (without a relaunch), which is itself an amazing feat these days at Marvel.

Lotsa love for Avengers Academy! If Marvel could get more people to give it a try that'd be a really hot selling book. Next up...

The Absorbing Man

I'm a fan of him. He's usually very entertaining in his appearances and has a flexible enough powerset that they can match him up against a variety of opponents. My personal favorite was when he went up against the Sentry in the one-shot "The Return" issue :)
