Oh yeah. There's absolutely no denial on my part that Alec Guinness was just awesome as elder Jedi Knight, Obi-Wan-Kenobi. Mace Windu for me, just stood out among the countless other Jedi's during the Old Republic, before the Empire, but yeah, Kenobi is the standard by which other Jedi's should be measured.

 and that's why you are a REAL AMERICAN HERO Duke my man!!

Mace Windu was tragically wasted in the Prequels. It wasn't until Th Clone Wars that he was fully able to unleash his inner BA, but without Samuel L Jackson, it just wasn't the same. :csad:

MOVIE NICK FURY

i acutually thought at the beginning i was going to hate Samuel fury but holy cow i almos jumped out my seat ( i remember it fondly seeing him at the end credits " taking about the Avengers initiative!! I freaking Love dude and i gotta say him with Agent Coulson" lost my one good eye!" was some sad ^&*( . i like dude!!

Sam Jackson as Fury is just perfect. Now... It's not exactly Nick from the 616, but for what the role is supposed to be in the films and the way Jackson plays it? Great stuff. The MCU has some really great talent all around and Jackson is definitely a great talent that enhances any scene he's in. In a way you have to think that whomever he's sharing a scene with has to think, "I'm working with Sam... Gotta up my game here." Plus the character has been written to be a complex hero. He's definitely not "pure as the driven snow" but he is trying to do what he thinks is truly right, while admitting when he's had to do some really bad stuff. Whatever Marvel's plans are going forward, and I do hope they go the Bond route of re-casting, it's going to be hard to find a replacement for Sam as Fury.

I enjoy Sam as Nick. I think everyone just about **** themselves when he showed up at the end of Iron Man and said those words. In the movies he's pretty awesome in everything he shows up in. I honestly can't think of anyone who could replace him.

The only thing I don't like about it is that they had to throw him in everything. They put him in the Ultimate books which was't bad at first but later sucked. They threw him in the main MU just because and did 'something' to the main Nick. I'ms till not sure WTF happened despite reading that arc.

I love Ultimate Universe Nick Fury! A shark ate him!
So much for a super spy in charge of a multi billion dollar security headquarters, he's not as prepared as a rich boy in spandex with his shark repellent spray.

ASH WILLIAMS
You don't need to tell me, I'm reaching too far.

Anywho, everyone loves Ash. Anyone who says otherwise is a deluded fool that mist be shut away from normal people for their own safety... Because Ash don't take no guff from fools.

Technically, Freddy, Jason and a bunch of other characters could be used due to the crossovers that have happened over the years.

I don't. I was forced to watch one of those 1st movies with him in it. Didn't enjoy the film, ergo have no love for the character. Ready? FIGHT!

I liked Army of Darkness, and the character Ash.

I've never gotten the appeal of Marvel Zombies. **shrugs**

We dedicate this day to Greg Weisman.

THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

Who cares if Ash doesn't belong here? I don't see anyone gutsy enough to tell him to leave.. :o

I liked SPECTACULAR SPIDEY a lot... But I'd be lying if I said I have it at quite the same level it's most ardent fans put it at. It's obviously head and shoulders above any other animated Spider-Man show by a lot. It's better than the 90's show, and it's better than the current Ultimate Spider-Man by several magnitudes. That said... It's really good but I always felt that it wasn't AS good as some make it out to be. Yea, I am one of those people that was put off by the character designs. I think when a show is as well written as this was, the choice of designs felt like having a jelly sandwich that had pickles in it. It just felt off. There were other things too. The somewhat needles mystery of the Goblin, which many really enjoyed and felt added so much... Meh.

All that said, it was a high quality show and a credit to the Spider-Man franchise. I have no doubt it made a whole new generation of young people fans of Spidey.

And of course... That AWESOME theme song.

I love the mystery, it's a good use of both his identity mystery from Steve Ditko/Stan Lee era, and the Hobgoblin identity mystery.
Remember when Hobgoblin used a robot of his masked self to blackmail rich people, and Roderick Kingsley was one of the blackmailed? That came to mind when I saw what Norman did to Harry. And infusing Harry's drug addiction plot with those, it was a gutsy move, and made for a real fun ride.

Well it wasn't badly done, but... Eh... It didn't do much for me. It felt like an unneeded swerve. It kept us guessing when in the end, they just made the Goblin... the same character he always is. I get that they were going for a recreation of the mystery of the original Ditko/Lee stuff, and it was done well enough, but... Meh. I think that the writing overall of the series was very strong though. Like I stated, it's a quality show all around. A great intro to younger people as to what Spidey is all about. Still would have preferred other character designs.

I've never seen it as far as I know. I watched some of the USM with my nephews though.

You should check it out Kev. After getting over the designs, it really was a well done animated version of the character and his world. It's feel was very much a mesh of the old Lee/Ditko stuff and the melodramatic episodic nature of the Micheline era. Lots of subplots, teen angst ect. with regular characters that they built on. Sandman appears WAY before he gets powers and thus there's this build up to his relationship with Spidey so that you understand why he'd be so hung up on him. The voice talent is really good and the action fun.
