State Your Opinion on A DC Character - Part 3

With the Superman continuity being sort of rebooted now I would like to see someone do sonething fun with Doomsday

Give him an actual personality and a motivation. Like how Bane became such an interesting character after Knightfall. Do the same with Doomsday

They were both created to be plot devices but while Bane has become a complex, tragic three dimensional villain with heroic qualities Doomsday has just been stuck as a big alien who smashes stuff
They did give Doomsday a personality for awhile when he started to evolve the ability to talk and think. Then during the Gog story arc he becomes a hero. Of course all that character development goes down the toilet because of time travel and he reverted back to the mindless engine of destruction he started off as.

Moving on.

Go to disney World?

Doctor Sivana

I loves me some Dr Sivana. He has the craziest supervillain origin story ever in his golden age appearances

I think I agree. I think he works best as that thing that everyone's scared of. Not because he's a brilliant mastermind or anything, just because he ****ing murders everything he comes across and doesn't do anything else. He should be like Cthullu or a bear or something.
Exactly. Unstoppable bogeyman of the DC universe is a good role for Doomsday.

Siv okay( for a capn marvel guy since i dont like cap). i liked when he teamed up with Luthor and all the smart guys against joker and all the crazies in whatever hell event that was!( i cant keep all these **&^%$$( things straight you know!:cwink:

Sivana's a character that DC's had a really hard time with ever since they got the rights to him. At first they did what they did with Lex and made him a businessman, which didn't really work out. But now I think he's settled into a nice place of being an insane old man who likes science and murder. And I can respect that.

Now he's a bald buff middle aged man obsessed with all the people being kidnapped by SHAZAM. He looks more like Hugo Strange than the Sivana of old......this f**kin' country.

Anyway, moving on.

Ah, for the days when a guy could just be a mad scientist hell bent on world domination.

Niles Caulder

The Chief of the Doom Patrol and a man who isn't always such a nice guy.....in fact he's a bit of a f**king sociopath.

I liked it when they made him a callous murderous social darwinist. You do have to distance him from Xavier somehow.

*reads any X-Men comic from the past ten years*

Oh... wait.

Sivana, like all things Captain Marvel, was great in the Fawcett days and pathetic since.

The Chief was awesome in the 60's, his relationship with the Doom Patrol was different from Xavier's because the DP are mostly adults with the exception of Beast Boy. No interest in seeing him as a sociopath.

It was actually a pretty neat twist but it did make me feel kind of sad. There were some really nice moments between the Chief and the team in the original series and making him a complete sociopath kind of spoiled that

I dug him being slightly amoral but I thought having him be the one who caused the Doom Patrol's accidents went a bit far

He was fun when he was a head without a body during the Pollack run

That dude is a lying ,manipulating, jerkhead SOB.... and I LOVE HIM! he was ok in the other series, but the dude really blew up in Morrison's " crawling from the wreckage!" run! i dug when dude confessed that he engineered the accidents to create robot, negative man and elastic girl! that *&&^% was wrong ,but oh so cool! how your own beloved leader ,that you follow going to pulll some jacked up stuff like that?!?! Thats what made them cool. Like an abusive relationship. they had no -where else to go, but to stay as some messed up dysfunctional family.Loved when he was just a talking head on an ice tray.totally dug this last series when he gave himself kryptonian powers! i *&^%$ hated they cancelled that book! if i was running DC. i would make martial law that the D-patrol would never be cancelled! The Chief is hella cool!!

This new look for Sivana is just unacceptable

I didn't even know it was him when i first skimmed the issue

Anyway, moving on.

He looks uncomfortably like he's about to taffy someone there :ninja:

It is a tricky endeavor, but I do like it when you take an established good guy and make him thoroughly evil. When it's done well, it can add a lot of drama and take a story in some interesting new directions. I think it was done well in Doom Patrol. That added sense of betrayal, hammering in the idea that these characters only have each other to depend on, it worked pretty well.

Guys always been a dick. Anyway, moving on.

Haha!

Professor Ivo

He needs to decide whether he wants to die or not. In half his stories he's causing trouble trying to get immortality. Then he's causing trouble trying to find a way to die

Make up your mind Ivo :argh:

Ivo... eh.

I liked him in the Detroit League, and I like him in the Young Justice cartoon (and I do have a love/hate relationship with that show, so it's a decent compliment), but in most comics he's kind of meh.

When he's good, he has this egomaniacal mad artist thing going on. Plus that whole unpredictability thing. A short, ugly weeny looking guy who's smart and ruthless enough to kill half the Justice League if he's in a bad mood.

But when some writers latched on to his whole immortality thing and thought it would be so "clever" and "original" to have him now want to die, even though he's been immortal for, like, two years in universe... yeah, not so much.

The whole Ivo wanting death bit is absurd. He's a villain that works better in stories with plots, although he's not too bad for today's splatterific torture porn comics either.

I dug him in Young Justice as well that was a good episode

A.M.A.Z.O.

I :hrt: A.M.A.Z.O he's a fun wacky idea for a villain and can be a really bad ass villain when written well

What does A.M.A.Z.O actually stand for though

I like Amazo, but I never thought his name stood for anything, I always saw it as "Amazo", not "A.M.A.Z.O.".

I'd like to see him vs Super-Adaptoid.
