DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 3

You know what? That' true.

I'm taking it back Kuro. Take it easy. :o

I was actually strongly considering giving Superman and Action Comics a shot but the last thing I want to read is another OMD/BND. I've been in support of this relaunch for the most part but this is the first news that's bothered me so far... and I don't even much care about Superman.

But if this is anything like Spider-Man they'll get good creative teams and tell good stories and people will accept it and move on... despite the crappiness of the move to begin with. I just don't want to be bothered with it.

This is nothing like OMD. Clark isn't choosing to end his marriage. These stories are just taking place at a time where Lois and Clark haven't known each other long enough to be married because of the reboot Superman is getting.

I'm just glad I'm not a huge Superman fan. I couldn't handle going through this again.

Okay sorry... this is BND... which was equally rediculous. It's character and comic regression and therefor not worth my time.

You didn't read Superman anyway so wtf do you care?

oh hey! Supergirl fights Superman in #2 of her new comic! Havent seen that yet!

I don't think you can accurately call this a regression when the timeline is new. If they weren't doing this relaunch/reboot and decided to get rid of Superman's marriage I'd agree with you.

I don't... and that's my point. I'm glad because I couldn't go through OMD/BND again. But for what it isn't worth, this was the first time in my life I was actually strongly considering picking up his book and it's even kinda got questioning bothering with JLA. I might just stick with the Batman and Green Lantern books since they aren't changing much.

You're not... If you're classifying this as a OMD/BND situation (which it isn't) you're not going through it again since you're starting after it's over...

100% you can. A month before this relaunch Superman has his full array of powers, is happily married, has a long standing relationship with the rest of the superhero community and a long standing membership of the JLA.

Now, to the best of my understanding. He's at the basic level of his powers, he has never been married, his JLA membership is only 5 years old, and his longstanding relationships with the rest of the superhero community isn't as strong as it was.

That's all regression. He was at one point and now he's at a lower point that he surpassed decades ago in "real" time.

I don't have to read it to get it. I'm a 20 year long comicbook fan. Though I don't read Superman's books, I've read plenty with him and know all the details of his life and all that. I'm aware of it all. Reading it all undone would just bring back those same feelings.

And I'm comparing it to OMD/BND because it's a similar situation. The story and excuse is different but the outcome is similar. Marriage gotten rid of, main character going through things he went through decades ago, his life is not moving forward like it was. It's a regression undoing a 15 (20 in Spidey's cse) year long marriage.

And by that logic then all the characters are regressing and you shouldn't be bothering with the relaunch at all.

And he's only at his most basic power level in Action Comics, which takes place in the past of the new timeline.

Thus, why I said I might just stick with Green Lantern and Batman books. They aren't as effected as the rest. I was planning on picking up Justice League, Green Arrow, Swamp Thing, and others. Now I may just drop those.

And he's only at his most basic power level in Action Comics, which takes place in the past of the new timeline.

You're right. Looking back I see that now, but that's a minor thing. The marriage is the thing that makes me think of OMD/BND. I'm glad that much is wrong though.

I'm going to wait and see with Superman at the moment. The fact Morrison is writing it makes me optimistic even if some of the changes there making to him make me want to

I trust in Morrison and the changes aren't gonna bother me for the first arc since its pretty much an origin thing but after that if he (presumably) starts writing stories taking place in the present, I dunno. And now I'm really on the fence for Perez' Superman. Really wanted to like that book but now...

Lois is dating a Planet colleague? A small part of me hopes it's Jimmy. :hehe:

So is it true that this new DCU recieved its first superhero as early as just five years ago? I thought I read that somewhere, and I can't find the article.
