Scott Free is awesome. Just, everything about him is so wholly Kirbyesque and awesome. I love him. It's a shame he's dead (unless he's not now, I don't know).

Mister Miracle is awesome, the Female Furies are a classic product of Kirby's craziest phase and may have influenced Star Wars (as all of the New Gods material may have, actually, along with other Kirby works).

Did I mention Kirby is god?

I love the female furies, it would be nice to since this is the start over of them to see Barda leading them before her redemption. And it would be cool if they were used as a threat to WW (I mean why wouldnt Granny want the princess/queen of the amazons on her squad?) and them become a somewhat constant.

WW/Bardas/FF fight scene in the S/B:A dtv was AWESOME.

Kirby is the king

His fourth world stories are some of the most epic fantasy and sci fi adventures I've read and he created one of the best mythologies in comic books

Great writers like Karl Kesel, Gail Simone and Grant Morrison have done great stuff with the characters and concepts he helped create

Also everyone read OMAC. Didio is actually writing a fun story full of Kirby goodness

Yeah, I just recently read OMAC # 6 and one of the Female Furies made an appearance and said that she'd be bringing back up in the future. However, I doubt that's happening since the book is cancelled after issue 8.

Yeah, so like, issue 2 or 3 of the original series is pretty much the first comic book I ever remember looking at... (I'm not old, it was one of my Dad's)

They're cool. Crazy but cool.

I liked his early 90s reinvention as a serial killer for the "Heat" arc in Legends of the Dark Knight.

The Forever People are high concept characters that could have only been created by Kirby in that time period. They really don't work in today's ultra-violent gore infested superhero comics in any way, although people have tried to twist them into the modern style.

Phooey.

Oh well, I'll just link to an old post I made in the Bat movie boards before Hardy was announced for the role. Essentially in response to the notion that Knightfall was Bane's only claim to fame and he did jack s**t between then and Secret Six, instead of having some awesome character development that furthered his relationship with Batman, Talia, Ra's Al Ghul, and his own philosophies on the world.

So it kinda kills me to see a character whose entire guiding principle was to be the ultimate self-made man, overcoming the crippling addiction he once had and vowing to never be a slave to anything ever again... back on venom.

And a man who had grown as a person, from once trying to prove himself the best by beating a hero who he didn't even know, seeking a father figure and affection before discovering that it's not so easy, and then trying to find his place in the world and grow past his previous petty rivalry with Batman and be a better person... is now a roided up thug trying to beat up Batman for some really petty reason again.

I really... just... ugh.
