The Challengers of the Unknown

Kirby's prototype for the FF, in fact the FF's origin is a rewrite of a Challengers story.

Like many DC heroes, they only work in pulpy adventure comics and don't fit into today's nerd soap operas that well.

Really liked them in New Frontier. Other than that story, never knew or cared much about them.

They may have been the prototype FF, but the Four definitely improved on the model in my opinion. The Challengers are just kind of boring.

I really like that mini-seriesn Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale did for them back in the early '90s, where they were portrayed as over the hill, semi-retired relics. That, at least, made them kind of interesting as individuals.

I know who they are but as a reader, I only really know them from New Frontier. They were great in that.

I also miss silver age covers. I love modern comic books but we need more covers where heroes are fighting rainbow coloured octopus monsters or forcing their friends to marry apes

I dig the Challangers. I can remember finding a stash of older comics from one of my elder siblings, and finding a few of the Challengers in there... Good old-time, simple comic stuff...

The Challengers are pretty cool. I like that although their adventures veered into the crazy and fantastic, they had a very down-to-earth origin story. Each of them cheated death in some way, so they devoted their second chances at life to exploration and discovery. That's a cool concept in any era.

Space Dragon trapped in an egg? They got it. Atomic Monsters wrecking your city? They got it. Shape Shifting extra-dimensional beings threatening your country? Them mofo's got that s**t. Why nobody's brought them back and done something awesome with them is beyond me.

Anyway, that's it for the Challengers.

but i wanna know is if you got Ghosts. who you going to call??

anyways Kanjar is okay i really dont see him as JLA threat like starro or Despero. for the green lantern corp maybe but not on the level of supes. but he's cool since everybody needs a couple rocket launchers or 2. he's a 3 on the rocktor scale

Well, replace rocket launcher with Raanarian Plama Cannons that "Fell off a space truck" Or some Doomsday devices that Space Pookie and dem porcured from the Weaponers of Qward.
