State your opinion on a game.

I will say this though:

MK2 is the king of pallet swaps. Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Reptile, Smoke, Noob, Milenna, Kitana, Jade. They really phoned it in with about half of the characters. :funny:

Haha and as a kid, i dont think that ever crossed my mind. I always thought those ninjas were so damn cool. They were all id ever use. Hell, they still are.

I like the early Mortal Kombats. The fighting mechanics are solid, the characters are cool (although they did go overboard on palette swaps), and the violence gimmick was charming. But there are a few things about them that keep them from being great fighting games:

-They lack depth, compared to the Capcom and SNK fighting games, especially the ones made in the mid-to-late 90s.
-The single players modes suck, even by fighting game standards. I know arcade games use cheap moments of difficulty to get more quarters out of people, and that's fine; but change that **** for the home consoles.
-The characters all having the same basic moveset put too much emphasis on special moves. It sometimes got to the point of who could spam the moves faster.

I disliked MK3 because it seemed just seemed way too over the top, on a goofy level. Uppercutting opponents through the rough, Jax somehow having the ability to grow 20 stories tall and stomp you, Liu Kang literally dropping a MK arcade game on you, seriously????
That silliness has its charm
For Ermac in the new game they reversed how the giant fatality is performed, I liked this take back to Jax's fatality
Yea i loved MKII. Had a lot of fun playing that with friends, all of us trying to do the fatalities and such. I never could pull off anyones fatalities except for Scorpion and Reptile.
In MKII the first fatality I learned is that of Shang Tsung, going inside his opponent to blow him/her up
MK1: Scorpion's fatality
MK3 series: Stryker's bombs

UMK3 did even more, and there was a secret Chameleon

Never cared for the Mortal Kombat series.
Why not?

I didn't really appreciate alot of the MK3 characters until this recent MK came out

I played mostly using either him or Cyrax, and my bro used Kabal most of the time

Haha yea, i wasn't so much referring to his move set, but his actual look. The model used for Stryker was awful. In the latest MK my primary dude is Cyrax and like your bro, my buddies best character is Kabal.

Stryker's model in those game reminds me of a cornball guy in a movie, forgot the guy and movie's name, I remember him putting his fingers in the sinuses of a crocodile

Early 90s me: I love MK! Its the only video game I care about! Look at the all ninjas! MK2 was the best!

Current me: I can easily see why American-made fighters are inferior to Asian made ones. At least MK2 was...enjoyable. It actually holds up pretty well side-by-side with MK2011...but no thanks. Oh, and its NINJA, younger me...Ninja is already plural. You wouldn't say Samurais...its ninja, singular and plural.

I think the latest MK is just as good as the SF series in a lot of ways. It deserves its place in the EVO tourney.

Played MK3 on the Genesis again, would you believe Easiest is the hardest difficulty?
Since I have MK2 for both the 32X and the SNES I never play it on 16Bit genesis, Kintaro is still difficult

Speaking of MK, did anybody ever play this game?

I remember really looking forward to this game before it came out, ended up playing it and loving it, but no one else I knew aside from my cousin had played it. It sort of came and went, the name suggests they had planned on doing the same thing for other characters in the series but I think bad reviews prevented that from happening.

It was alright for few years, when I play it now I don't like it

Uuuuuugggghhhhhhh Mortal Kombat Mythologies was not good at all IMO, I had it for the playstation, the only good thing about it was it had FMV cutscenes which the N64 lacked, and by today's standards, those cutscenes look really bad. Gameplay wise, not quite as tight as the fighting games, overall game felt rushed.

Mortal kombat 3 is my favorite in the series, kabal was my go to guy to kick ass, tho I've never been too good at fighting games lol

If you never played this game in your childhood, either you never touched a Genesis, or you weren't a child back then

Game felt great back then seeing my cousins play it, felt a lot of joy playing it. Played it recently, and I think it's a far lesser game than Killer Instinct

I LOVED the Tenchu games. I still have Tenchu 2 sitting around somewhere.

Yea i loved the series as well. Hell i even bought Tenchu Z.

I hope they reboot that game at some point.
