State your unpopular video game opinion...

I want more new games. How could it be that more original games were available at this point in time before, only this generation those gaps of time are filled up with remasters?
there is brewing suspicion by some that one of the reasons Uc4 was pushed back was because sony wanted to have a remastered trilogy in its release window to sell in the first place. I don't know what to think of that but it does make me think.

Trust me Sony would rather of had a killer app like Uncharted 4 this fall rather than a re-release. So that is just completely not true.

The reason there are less games is because of the vast scope and cost of so many of them. Games are no longer quickly made or released. It just is what it is, and has been like that every generation. Vast RPG's of the 90's took sometimes less than a year to make compared to now where they can take up to five years.

We are getting quite a bit this year, so I don't think that worry will stand much longer.

I hope this is accurate. I really do. And I know games are increasingly expensive to develop. Which is why the game developers need as much support from their publishers as possible. if that means delaying the game, then fine. I was bummed out when I heard Uc4 was delayed, but again, it should be for the best.

Seriously, this is two years in a row now that the PS4's big marquee holiday title has slipped into the next year. There's no way Sony would want to trade that for a remaster.

I bet the Uncharted collection was probably originally meant to be released this summer, but they held off on an announcement and rescheduled it for later in the year once it became clear that Uncharted 4 wasn't going to make it this year.

Sony could have easily forced them to release it this year but I'm glad they didn't. It'll make for a better game ultimately.

Call Of Duty, Battlefield, Rainbow Six, Titanfall, and Halo are the same game just recreated by different game developers.

As far as the Nintendo 64 era of Rare games goes, I felt that Rare was way overhyped. They weren't bad developers AT ALL, but you know how a lot of people forever criticize Nintendo for redoing the same games over and over? Why wasn't this ever thrown at Rare during this period? DK 64 & Banjo Twooie, were just clones of Banjo Kazooie, which was a clone of SM64...Its hard to hate on Perfect Dark since obviously it filled the void of a necessary Goldeneye follow-up without having to deal with licensing...but then we have Diddy Kong Racing which just aped Mario Kart. Even Conker's Bad Fur Day was originally yet another Banjo/DK64/Mario 64 clone (Conker's Quest 64) before Rare thankfully blew it up and reconstructed it. And moving onto the GC era, Rare gave us Legend of Krystal: Fox's Adventure...I'm sorry, Star Fox Adventures. All in all, starting with the N64 days until Rare sided with Microsoft, all they ever really did was copy and paste Nintendo's successes and made them better...not that hard to do when someone else already came in and established the groundwork for you.

I'm not even remotely excited for Uka Laylee.

That's not an unpopular opinion, that's just wildly incorrect.

Yeah, honestly I'm not even close to being a fan of any of those games -you couldn't pay me to play them- but I definitely wouldn't say they're all the same game. Similar mechanics sure, but overall? No siree.

I mean at the end of the day, they are all first person shooters. I feel like that genre is the most difficult one to make unique titles with. However, CoD, Battlefield, Halo, etc do very interesting things to make them different from each other.

I honestly doubt developers are halting the release of new games for remasters. I'm sure these remasters cost a lot less to make than a brand new game. Publishers want to be able to make a quick buck, and remasters are easy to do and it's a guaranteed sell.

I think they might be, but in a positive way. They put less pressure on them to rush games out.

Brawl, easily, is the best in the Super Smash Bros. series. NOT...MELEE...

I actually don't like Smash Bros. whatsoever. I was introduced to it in college as a lot of people on campus play it, but I don't like it whatsoever.

I also haven't really got into Smash Bros.

I didn't like The Witcher 3.
What did you not like? I'm just interested as I love Witcher 2 but could imagine a good amount of people not liking the gameplay.

I like Smash Bros, I just don't see what the big deal is.

It's a fun party game.

But to be fair, I have always had, at best a casual interest in fighting games.

The last fighting game I was really into was Soul Calibur 2.

well, it is the best selling fighting game of all time for a reason.

That may be, but the "hardcore" generally consider Melee to be the better game. A lot of Smash community was disappointed in Brawl big time. To be honest, I'm not super sure why since I really don't see a much difference in them myself, but I'm not really a core player who can pick apart things.

But Melee is, and forever will be, better than Brawl to me for the simple fact that there's none of that tripping **** in Melee.

Honestly, the price tag keeps me from picking it up.

50 bucks is a lot for a game I'm only casually interested in, and none of my friends have a Wii U, or are particularly interest in playing it.

Though when Mortal Kombat X or Street Fighter V drops to 20 or so bucks, I might pick those up.

yeah, I know the hardcore nintendo audience favors melee to the max. maybe brawl sold more because it was the wii game.

Brawl had a much bigger emphasis on randomness with item usage and tripping that turned people, including myself, off of it. It's not even those things themselves really, it's more than they're mandatory and can't be toggled off. It was a deliberate move to distance the game from the pro scene but it ended up alienating more than that, for me at least. I still think it's a good game but probably the weakest in the series. The most recent one is a good balance of the technical prowess of Melee and the casual openness of Brawl.

Glad I am not the only one that fells that way. I fell like all shooting games are just the same and I cant stand shooting games. To hard hate 1st person and they are boring.

I have to disagree. Halo feels nothing like those other games.

Now, I personally have trouble remembering the PS3 / 360 Battlefield games from the PS3 / 360 Call of Duty games.

Halo and Destiny for me just play so much better. The mechanics are superior to everything.
