Stephen King's 'Carrie' remake

Still a cool design though.

Hell the original release date was next week wasn't it?

but Prom month would not have been a bad time to release this, but then again at least one horror film in October will be nice since Evil Dead and Lords of Salem come out in April for some reason.

Paranormal Activity 5 will be out in October too, so there would've been one with or without Carrie.

High School Cast List

Chloe Grace Moretz- Carrie -1997

Ansel Elgort- Tommy Ross -1994

Gabriella Wilde- Sue Snell- 1989

Portia Doubleday- Chris Hargensen- 1988

Alex Russel- Billy Nolan- 1987
(I just realized, Russel played Matt in last year's Chronicle)

There are others. I guess the age spread isn't really that bad given what it has been in other films (and even worse on TV), but at first glance it was weird to see that the other major high school characters were all played by actors born in the 80s when the lead is played by an actress born in the late 90s.

Oh dear.

That's pretty much all I can say.

I'll reserve judgement until the full trailer tomorrow...

What is Hollywood's obsession with this Carrie crap anyway ? First theres a TV show that no one watches. Now this ?

i didnt want to be the first one saying it. yes in those clips it was overacting. no problem. we still need the trailer and watch the movie. but i like ''less is more''.

God knows. Maybe someone somewhere thought that with the popularity of YA-fiction it might be a good idea (a good idea as in making money) to adapt Carrie again because it's about teenagers. With Hollywood you never know... :)

Yes, Chloe is incredibly hammy in those clips.

It worries me. Piper Laurie really hammed it up in the original but she got away with it, as it made Margaret appear as this ghoulish, larger than life, overzealous figure in comparison to Sissy's very real, very meek Carrie.

I'm not even a huge Spacek but I can't deny it was a faultless performance. Incredibly subtle. You empathised with her, and wanted to shake her in equal measure. She was Carrie. I never felt like she was playing a role.

Unlike... that clip. But as I say, I'll wait until I see the full trailer.

As an aside, I hate that they've already released images of blood soaked Carrie. They should have tried to keep that as secret as possible. It's the iconic, shocking image of the film, the most powerful, and one that would have been better as a surprise.

yeah i was being nice honestly she looks kind of horrible in that clip i dont want to judge off such little footage

but terrible first impression

would be funny if Carrie is over the top and her mother is calm and quiet. hahahhahhaha

i am personally shocked since chloe has been solid in most of the things i have seen her in from kick ass,let me in,hugo, etc.

In the awful TV version, Patricia Clarkson played Margaret and she really underplayed it. Angela Bettis gurned and grunted her way through the Carrie role and it was the most unsympathetic protagonist I have ever seen.

Claire from LOST played Chris though, and was actually quite good.

What the hell? You saw 5 milliseconds of footage and you're talking about overacting? As much as I hate teasers for trailers, the footage is fine.

Yeah I really don't see how there's enough there to form an opinion on. Context is a real thing.

Looks like it has the potential to be a huge pile of ****.

Oh new kid... trying to seem cool by acting all tough and cynical. :o

Is there a new trailer coming out with Evil Dead? They are from the same studio after all.

Saw the new trailer. Looks very good but revealed too much imo. (I haven't read the book but I think I'll go ahead and do so.) If it's supposed to be more faithful to the book I think I'll be able to appreciate the film more if I read it.

Still showed too much. :cmad:

lol That's why I'm just going to read the novel. I don't wanna come across as the person complaining: "THEY SHOWED TOO MUCH SCREW THIS MOVIE!"

I honestly think it looks good, and now I know why they showed the prom scene. :woot: Thanks.

Hmmm....not really feeling that trailer and I really want to like this movie. Carrie just seems way too cool and stylish. In the 1976 she looked like an outcast. She was poor, dirty, extremely shy, head always down, and you just can't but feel so bad for her.

She just doesn't look like an outcast or someone who would have difficulty making friends. I've been in high school...you can see the school pariahs from a mile away.

It seems like just another new stylized remake. It just reminded me of how good the first film is rather than wanting to see this new take on it...
