Stephen King's 'Carrie' remake

Yeah, it sounds like a done deal. Oh well, I don't have high hopes for this project (lets face it, Hollywood remakes of already successful horror classics don't have a great track record), but I'm sure Moretz will do well.

Oh she'll possibly be known as the new Carrie after a fantastic performance. Why have such a pessimistic outlook? At least wait and see what they do with it before making judgements.
did you watch Hugo from Scorsese?

I don't know how I feel about this. Honestly more interested in the Carrie Broadway musical revival.

Yeah, I loved her in it.
she was in a Martin Scorsese movie where she gave a good performance. she is above a horror remake from the 70's.

yes i think she will be fantastic in this remake. but so what. i want her to play a new character. something that we have not seen before.

We haven't seen Moretz play a meek and shy character who goes crazy in high school.

It's supposed to be a much more faithful adaption of the book. They're not focused on the 70's film.

And we haven't seen her play a role like this before.

this is how they promote the new remakes since the last 5 years. its always the same '' its not like the first movie. we are adapting the book. ''

what funny is that the reason the original movies work is because they were not to much faithful.

There are other works of King that need to be done on the big screen before this, especially given that the original was just fine.

Give me some IT. :o

I dont see how this would hurt her career Rooney Mara did the remake of Nightmare on Elm street and the Girl with Dragon Tatto one of those was a sub par remake and she seems to be doing a lot of movies now.
I honestly think this is going to be a good movie they got a solid director.

Regardless, it's going to be hard to top the original movie.

They can't remake Carrie, but they should remake IT?!?! Don't prattle on about "remakes = BAD!!" and then offer a suggestion for a Stephen King book to be adapted into a film, THAT'S ALREADY BEEN ADAPTED AS A FILM!!!!

To be fair, the original Carrie is fantastic and It, besides nostalgia, is terrible.

Some people don't count TV movies as films for some reason.

The Nightmare on Elm Street remake is what this is more comparable to, and that's the movie that Mara did (and regrets) because of a lack of options, which is kind of the point - Moretz has way more options than Rooney Mara did when she accepted that role. This is not The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Carrie is not a story that has yet to be adapted in the English language, and Kimberly Pierce, while solid, is no David Fincher.

This is Nighmare on Elm Street, Halloween, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror, Straw Dogs, or any other remake of American 70's horror classics. So far, Hollywood has yet to justify any of these remakes' existence, as none of them have been as good as the originals.

That said, Carrie is a much meatier role than Nancy from NoES (and it did get Sissy Spacek an Oscar nod), so I can see why Moretz might be interested, but it just seems...ill-advised.

A. It was a TV movie.

B. Unlike IT, DePalma's Carrie was actually good beyond just one actor.

C. You can take the stick out.

IT deserves a remake more than Carrie does. Outside of Tim Curry's performance, it was a terrible movie.

The original Carrie still holds up well today, it really doesn't need a remake, but I'm not as bothered by this news as I thought I'd be.

Will someone please make a decent version of Salem's Lot already?? It's still Stephen King's scariest book.

Agreed. But I'd rather they just leave it be than weakly adapt it for the third time in a row.
