Stephen King's 'Carrie' remake

Oh she'll possibly be known as the new Carrie after a fantastic performance. Why have such a pessimistic outlook? At least wait and see what they do with it before making judgements.

Correct. People were saying the same thing about Heath Ledger taking on the Joker. But look how well that turned out.

I have zero interest in a Carrie remake, but I will say Chloe is great casting. It's sad though, because it is the final nail in the coffin for Kick-Ass 2. Though I never believed Mark Millar's BS-ing media spin, so I'm not surprised.

For those worried that she'll be known as the "horror remake girl," calm down. This isn't a scream queen part. This is potentially a star-making role. Sissy Spacek got an Oscar nomination for the original(!) and I'm sure this is going to be treated with a lot of reverence. Only fans and haters of LMI (seeming the only two types who've seen it) know about her performance in that little film. Otherwise she's known as Hit-Girl/Hugo girl. If Dark Shadows is a hit, she'll have that too.

Whoever's managing her career is picking the right projects. I'm not sure she's a great actress yet (though she has been great in several roles), but she has that "It" factor that Jodie Foster and Natalie Portman had at early ages that everyone could see. I guess it's that indescribable star quality that some have and some don't.

Anyway, good for her and good for the movie. Still not going to watch it though.

I don't see how it's a nail in the coffin for Kick Ass 2 in any way.

A sequel to Ghost Rider happened. If that can spawn a sequel, pretty much anything can.

Supposedly Millar was pushing to get KA2 shot this year and it makes since as Moretz is 15 (which is probably too old). Doing KA2 with a 16-year-old HG (or older) and a Kick-Ass in college just seems kind of....like they missed the window.

Oh well. KA2 (the book) was only so-so and while the promise of KA3 being about them as adults is intriguing...eh, the movie we have is still better than most superhero films. So I'm fine with that.

Not that big of a difference when Ghost Rider cost $110 million and Kick Ass cost $30 million.

Moretz is shaping up to be a fine young actress, I think she'll be great for the role. It's refreshing to see an actual teenager get cast for a teenaged role. As far as her looking the part is concerned, I'm sure with makeup, wardrobe, and the performance itself will make her fit the bill. I've heard that this is supposed to be a more faithful adaptation of the book and if that's the case she might even gain weight for the part considering Carrie was overweight in the novel.

The project is admittedly redundant and I admire DePalma's film, but I can't say I have anything against a remake on principal. The fact of the matter is that the original film will still be there and remain untouched despite this movie, as will the source material. I've never understood the militant anti-remake sentiment. This project has legitimate talent behind it, there's no need to lament it.

Seriously. There's always the possibility of improving on what came before.

Except for William Katts beautiful blonde locks. That can never be replicated.

Yeah, she'll be able to pull it off. She has that Dakota Fanning thing going on...old soul or something.

I don't see the difference between making that movie with a 15-year-old and making it with a 16-year-old. Both have already missed the window, imo.

If KA2 was gonna happen, it would have needed to start shooting last year at the latest. Unless, as you said, they want to tell a very different story with a high school Hit-Girl and college Kick-Ass, something they could still do a year or two from now. I'm just not sure who would want to do that.

where that money go

cage's hair?
What? The budget for Kick-Ass was a fraction of just about any other superhero movie, yet it's certainly better than most, with some of the best and most entertaining action sequences in the genre. Why are you acting like it somehow wasted its budget? I mean, its production values were at least on par with Daredevil's and that one had more than double the budget. The Green Hornet's budget was more than FOUR times higher than KA's. I'd say Vaughn's use of that $28mil budget was damned impressive.

Oh cool, when are they casting Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte?

Just kidding of course. It's interesting, an adaption of Carrie with Chloe in the lead but I can't really see what else they could do that hasn't already been done (except maybe fixing up the ending but that's a matter of taste)

I think they could've still dressed her down to pass for 13 or so. After she turns 16, she just can't play tween anymore. I actually think these characters as adults (both in their 20s) could be interesting....but it would have to be completely different from the first film which is not a good idea for KA2.

But c'est la vie. The movie is still better than most in the genre.

I hope they get a good enough budget to do the ending of the book justice this time. It is honestly the only thing about the first I was disappointed about and the only thing they can even really improve.

There are a few scenes I'd like to see this time (like the stones raining on the Carrie's house) but they definitely have a chance to do something awesome after she leaves the high school. I hope they don't hold back.

From one dude to another, I must say that hair was indeed very.....beautiful.

Why remake Stephen King properties that already have good adaptations?

Why not remake good books with crappy films?

I think Chloe (along with Elle Fanning) are two of the brightest under-20 actresses in Hollywood today. Although I'm a bit lukewarm with the idea of remaking Carrie, especially since there was one direct-to-cable movie made not too long ago, I think Chloe is a fantastic young actress and she brings instant credibility to the role.

But if they do that I won't get my hopefully faithful remake of the Shining!

Oh, Lol, my bad. Sorry Project, I just totally blanked on the fact that Nic Cage was in both of those movies.

Yeah I agree that there's probably an interesting story to be told with both characters being older, but I doubt any studio would want to take a chance on that considering they didn't even want to take a chance on the first one to begin with. Oh well, like you said, the original is perfectly great as a standalone film.

Since changing titles into something that's more generic or simplified is the rage now in Hollywood, will this movie be called 'Ca'?
