The way hollywood has been going with its remakes these days has been to water them down into pg-13 to make them more accessible to the teens. The fact that moretz is becoming more mainstream now and that she's only 15 I kind of saw her casting as a way to attract a younger audience.

I don't like the general direction going on now of films that should be r being made into pg-13 but i have a strong suspicion this films will be one of them. You have up and coming young actress, sub-plot involving teen angst set in highschool, supernatural powers i'm almost sure the producers have pitched this remake to attract the teen demo this time around.

Look at Die Hard and Live Free or Die Hard. People have argued that the original's Rated R would be today's PG-13 but I disagree; it had cussing and tons of blood (though nothing too gratuitous). Also look at the tone: the original was very raw and dirty but honest. Die Hard 4, though I did enjoy it, was slick, clean and had a broad tone that appealed to a wider audience.

the reason it has to be R rated is because at the end when she is killing we need to see how painfully it is.

any news on the rating?

Casting someone conventionally "good-looking" in the lead harms the central idea of this film. Good young actress, bad casting.

Outside of Carrie, Sissy Spacek wasn't unattractive by any means.

wasnt Spacek attractive in the 70's ?

plus i wonder if Moretz will have any plastic surgery around her chin

Maybe they should have cast Clint Howard to appease the people who seem to think she should be some kind of bog monster. :whatever:

why not dakota fanning? What is she so busy with nowadays?

I don't care for Moretz as an actress. She's okay but nothing special as far as I can see.

Chloe is great as Jack Donaghy's nemesis on 30 Rock. I just want to drop that in here.

Director Kim Pierce shared a fan-made Carrie poster on her facebook page -

There's more reason than that. The whole opening features a bunch of naked teenage girls in a shower room. Granted, you can obscure much of the nudity but the gist is still there.

I'm pretty sure the R rating will be because of the blood; pig and human. A lot of blood/gore garners an R-Rating.

Rated R for Extreme Tampon-throwing

No, seriously, guys. I want, like, twice as much tampon-throwing as there was in the original. :o

Let me in is probably one of my favorite movies. She was superb in it. Loved it

When I heard that Chloe Mortez was playing Carrie my first thought was 'Is she going to get pig blood dumped on her at a middle school dance instead of prom?

Oh wait shes 15 now.... When did that happen?
