Stephen King's 'Carrie' remake

She exploded the glasses on the face of a girl, who, then, in a blinded panic, shot a spear gun through a guy's crotch. His junk floated in the pool.

God, that film is terrible.

If you find Brad from Home Improvement's testicles being speared by a harpoon and shot into a pool terrible then I weep for you. Too bad we never saw anything so gruesome happen to Johnathan Taylor Thomas though lol

Thought the trailer showed too much, right up til the most iconic moment of the original. It's a shame they have to spoil so much to sell the movie.

Obviously, we already know the story and gave a general sense of how the remake plays out. But the whole idea of a remake is introduce a new generation to the material (while also giving existing fans something new to enjoy). I think they could have contructed a trailer that shows less and says more, if you know what I mean.

It's just a trope, a case of Hollywood Homely. Like Rachel Leigh Cook in She's All That, Camilla Belle in The Quiet, etc. We're meant to understand that the character is seen by her peers as unattractive even though she's being played by a hot actress.

I reiterate, they were never going to cast an uggo. Even the most "average" looking actress in the biz is still pretty hot by normal standards.

Don't weep for me. Weep for Brad. It's his junk floating around in there.

Hilariously, I just remembered that the lead female ends up falling into that same pool a short while later. Delightful.

No wonder she pulled this face.

So, at the very least, there's no way this remake can possibly be worse than that film.

I agree that they were never going to cast an ugly person for Carries character, even though IIRC Carrie was kinda ugly and frumpy inthe novel. But they should have made Chloe a bit uglier somehow, although I'm not sure how. She definately looks like her typical self. Bad clothing imo isnt enough to make her a believeable outcast.

I continue to be baffled by that line of thought, bad clothing, social awkwardness and a bad family reputation in a small town is pretty much the definition of a social outcast.

She's what we call the Hollywood Outcast, or Hollywood Nerd, as TV Tropes puts it. Nobody in the acting biz sans character actors are truly ugly.

Perhaps its just due to my own habits of dating band geeks and scifi nerds from the older half of an affluent town that I don't find Moretz appearance to be unbelievable for a social outcast.

Just read through the novel. Loved it. Read it in one sitting because I loved it so much lol.

It makes me more excited for this movie and seeing how it's supposed to be more accurate to the book, (than the past film, which I'll probably watch), I'm really excited for October!

I went to high school with a couple really pretty girls who people picked on for being on the "God Squad" (not a real thing, just for being "too Christian").

Yeah I've seen bullying for various things other than looks.

I reread it last year. I'd forgotten how good it was.

And yes, someone can be attractive and still be ostracized. You don't have to be a morlock to get picked on. I can't believe this is actually an argument.

I don't think Chloe looks cute in the trailer. I thought she did a credible job with making herself look brow-beaten and homely. Sissy Spacek wasn't much of a looker, even back in the 1970s.

And Julianne Moore looks freaking scary, almost as good as the original woman did.

She looks like a crazy cat lady, which is accurate.

The original is on Netflix for those who want to watch.

The guy taking her to prom should have a big blonde afro like the original.

Just saw the trailer in front of Now You See Me, and while she does look a little too pretty, there are girls in high school that are kind of pretty but still pretty odd at the same time.
