Stephen King's 'Carrie' remake

I'm only 20 but in my school there were plenty of girls who were super cute that every guy I knew would bang. But they were weird and shy and not talkitive or social and they got made fun of.

Chloe is very attractive and talented. And Moore Isn't bad looking she's very good looking and her as Carrie mom would make it more believeible that she would be just as good looking.

The fact that we are even acting like Chloe's attractiveness is a problem for us is so silly.

The girl has super powers and your worried about how good looking she is, I mean "C'mon man"

Hell, even if another country remade this they wouldn't cast an uggo.

Freaky deakies need love too...

I've heard people say chloe is "too beautiful" which is weird to me because honestly shes not that pretty. She is slightly above average but is she exceptionally beautiful to the point where she can't play carrie? lol....no. That's ridiculous.

My qualm is that she just doesn't come across as the bullied type (or at least not in the way Carrie is supposed to be). She is pretty stylish, her clothes look brand spankin new, she has nice hair, etc. In the 1976 version Carrie was the lonely girl who did fit in not only because her mom was a religious nut but also because she was poor and disheveled. Also, Carrie has no confidence in herself. The only scene I got that from in the trailer is when the girl tells her to stop laughing at the pool. I hope we see more of that and less of chloe walking around with her new Hollister clothes. Just sayin :o

I'm no expert on hair but that hardly counts as stylish.

Fairly sacklike dress there.

Grey sweaters are a betrayal of Carrie's character, obviously.

What's that song playing at the end of the trailer? It sounds vaguely familiar to me but the way it is cut I can't recall where I've heard it before.

That's probably half my problem with her in it as well, in fact it's actually less about Chloe and more about how she's presented going by this trailer. Yes, performance is everything, I get that, but I still struggle to look at this trailer and buy into it.

It's a version of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow. Here it is:

I didn't say stylish hair...I said nice hair. In the 1976 version Carrie's hair was greasy and flat. She just looked...messy and poor. Here not so much, definitely looks conditioned. :o

And before anyone says anything, I don't think this will make or break Carrie but little things like that do add up. She looked more like someone who got picked on in Let me in then she does here. Just an observation. To me she just look like she's just joining the hipster trend. Idk....*shrug*

On what planet is Cissy Spacek completely unattractive?
I didn't say that, but Spacek brings an unnerving, bug-eyed, alien oddness to the role. She pulled off being empathetic and pathetic at the same time.

I'm not saying this is what's keeping me from the movie. I have my own overriding issues with the very idea of doing this story again, I'm just saying people coming in with this complaint aren't without merit and they certainly don't deserve to be called "image-obsessed misogynists."

Who said people were being misogynists?

Exactly. That is key to the role for me. We feel sorry for Carrie, but at times, you want to shake her, tell her to stop being so damn pathetic.

Sissy's performance was truly worthy of that Oscar nomination. It's very nuanced, very subtle.

It's much more than looks. I feel like Spacek just inhabited that role. Not once did I feel that I was watching a performance.

As an aside, one thing I don't like about the new film is the use of arm gestures to exert control of her power. It's a bit... comic booky.

On the other hand, I can't wait to see Julianne's Margaret.

Yea, I will have to take a step back from that for a second and apologize for that. Harsh wording. Sorry guys, sometimes when I'm typing my responses I start ranting and going off on tangents. I still stand by what I said but using the word misogynist was a bit much

Just saw the trailer for this attached to Evil Dead. I thought the movie was about Carrie and not her mother!

Looks wise Moretz fits the role but I'm just not a fan of her acting. Eh, hopefully she is decent in this but the trailer makes it look like a standard remake and nothing more. I guess Moore could be a reason to watch it on Netflix.

I'd have to watch the original again to see if I change my mind but I remember only thinking that it was okay.

Regarding her being too stylish...

It appears that she is not at all stylish in the film. She is a bit disheveled, not all glammed up like a popular high school girl would be...but then at some point in the film she is transformed...apparently (judging from the trailer) some popular guy playing a prank on her by pretending that he likes her. That would get her confidence up and get her trying to look like the popular girls. She even says that is going to try to be whole or complete or something...so when the trailer then starts showing her looking stylish, obviously she is being duped by the bullies.

I was responding to complaints that Moretz is too attractive that have been here and all over the web even though Spacek was also quite attractive.

Whatever 'other worldliness' she brought to the role is another matter.

I think people are just far too locked into Spacek to even give this movie a chance.

Tommy doesn't take her to prom as a joke. He does it because his girlfriend asks him to, basically as a penance for her role in ridiculing Carrie in the locker room.

I don't recall learning that from the trailer.

Everybody is forgetting the greatest thing that this movie will lack is Mena Suvari jumping off a building.
