So... What's the consensus opinion from the long time fans of what they've seen so far? I only ever read the first book and as it didn't grab me I never went any further.

Did you get a chance to see the trailer? There's a couple of guys tailing Jake. One of 'em kind of scratches at his jaw. Those are the low men. I'm disappointed in their costumes. In the books, they're supposed to look a little strange..a little off... when you get up close. This is a more accurate portrait of your bogstandard low man:

Their cars are implied to be living creatures glamor'd to look like automobiles.

And this is what's hiding under that human mask. Tagged because it could be a spoiler for those who haven't finished the books.

No. Didn't get to see the trailer. It was a leak, right? I'm interested just because This seems like a very different kind of King project to adapt and I know it has lots of passionate fans.

Yes, there's still a lot of greenscreens here and there throughout.

Yeah, it's an unfinished, (apparently) international trailer. Not sure how much different the domestic one will be.

Hopefully the domestic one will be a bit more coherent. International trailers tend to be a bit more jumbled.

I'm unfamiliar with the story and the presence of some teenage boy made it look like some horrible apprentice kind of movie with Nic Cage or something

In the movie the boy
is a McGuffin with psychic powers

In the books
Roland and the boy have an Isaac and Abraham relationship in the first book

I still think that the aspect of that relationship may still be a part of the first film. I'm still hearing besides setting up the world etc the first film seems to follow most of The Gunslinger.

I'm only in the Wastelands but I heard that this movie takes place after the book series and is there an explanation for why Roland has all his fingers?

If you want to know why, it kind of spoils some big things. But I can PM you.

I think I will just continue through the books.

That's fine I put the PM in spoiler tags so you don't have to look. I did not want to spoil it for you unless you really wanted to know.

I've only read the first two books so far, enjoyed the second book more than the first one mainly due to the ridiculous mechanics that Stephen King can come up with... absolute genius in many parts...
What I want to know is, does Dad-a-chum and all the sounds the lobsters make ever mean anything?

A book with the title The Making of the Dark Tower: The Art of the Film will be released by Scribner in January 2017. Not much info about it has been released so we can only guess what it is but it sounds interesting. More info as soon as we get it.

Pre-order your copy here.

No. They're just sounds the lobstrosities make.
