Well there is a horror comeback as of late. But the genre has always been filled with kitschy cheap stuff. For every It Follows or Babadook, there's like 50 VOD junk.

the lower the budget the bigger chance that its a good horror movie. thank god that they dont need a big budget.

i think the problem with hollywood horror movies is that they need a big action packed finale with explosions

HBO should just make a series similar to True Detective or AHS where each season adapts a different King story, threading elements from each story into the next and setting up a King multiverse.

That'd be cool. IT and the turtle are referenced in Dark Tower right?

IT Filming in June

Bloody Disgusting reports that IT will start filming in June. They also say it might be a trilogy, something that is news to me. Hopefully more news will come soon.

The feature film adaptation of Stephen King’s It is finally entering pre-production, with plans on going behind cameras this June in New York, reports Production Weekly.

The first in what could be a new trilogy is to be helmed by “True Detective’s” Cary Fukunaga.

Is Peter Jackson secretly directing LOL

Didn't expect that. We'll see.

He's a really good up and coming actor, seems strange though.

Also states 2 movies not 3 like that one no name site reported and a bunch of people believed.

I wanted someone older, hopefully he kills it though.

He does look alot younger than you would expect, though I guess I could see it making sense that the children's greatest fear would be a clown who looks closer to their age as opposed to a guy who was Curry's age in the original.

He's pretty young, but he must have killed it in his audition.

This guy looks young enough to be one of the Losers himself. I really don't get this casting.

Interesting, like Drizzle said if he was cast he must have killed it in the audition (and he is in The Revenant, certainly a good sign), looking forward to it. Also I can sort of see it in this pic.

That's a big stretch. Why would a kid be more afraid of a clown if he were a fellow kid? That dynamic doesn't make any sense. IT is like a child predator. Do you remember the leper scene?

He may appear young, but he'll also be wearing clown make-up. I think that'll skew things a bit.

I can totally see this working. He definitely has the right look, even with his age.

Most likely an inspired casting choice and one that will surprise us. I fully support it!

Weird, weird choice. But Fukunaga probably knows what he's doing. His age will probably be imperceptible with the makeup and costume. Unless they're diverting and going for a Pennywise that looks like a peer to the kids.

I was just trying to think of reasons why they may go with a younger actor in this version as opposed to an older actor which was expected. I wasn't making any claims as to the motivations of the filmmakers.

Whatever specific scenes happened in the original film I really don't care about, because its not as relevant as to why they cast this actor for this film.

Is it possible that IT will take on this young appearance to try to draw the kids into a false sense of safety? Im sure Poulter will be made up and all freaky at some point when he shows his evil side but I also think at some point IT will actually look like Poulter does.
