Ugh, Rocketman.![]()
Ugh.
The budget conflict over “It” had been brewing for weeks, as Fukunaga discovered when he initially tried to cast Ben Mendelsohn as the titular villain. While many assumed Mendelsohn was forced to turn down “It” due to his pending involvement in “Star Wars: Rogue One,” an individual with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap that the Australian actor could’ve starred in both movies — “It” in June and “Rogue One” in September — but New Line wanted Mendelsohn to take a sizable pay cut, prompting him to pass on the project.

"Ugh" is right.Sneider updated the story...
If they get any of the directors, writers, or cinematographers behind Sinister, Insidious, Oculus, Annabelle, Mama, or The Babadook, this movie is in the right hands, in my opinion. Not the guy from an HBO drama. Hate on me all you want.![]()
On the plus side, this frees Fukunaga up for Batman.

That HBO drama had grotesque Gothic imagery and occult undertones that rival some of the "horror films" being put out today. If they get any of the directors, writers, or cinematographers behind Sinister, Insidious, Oculus, Annabelle, Mama, or The Babadook, this movie is in the right hands, in my opinion. Where did I say you were nuts?I love how you guys think I'm nuts, when you think the only person in the world for this job is an unknown television guy who made 8 episodes of an HBO show, and you want him to be fully in charge of the Moby Dick of Horror novels, possibly the most iconic novel of its genre since Dracula or Frankenstein. Sure, I'm nuts.
Give the director of Annabelle free reign.
Heh.

Don't forget the classics that he directed before, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation and The Butterfly Effect 2. We have a winning combo here!![]()
So we're saying that Jennifer Kent as director with John R. Leonetti as cinematographer wouldn't be better than Fukunaga? You're all just kidding yourselves.
There is no definite proof that either would be better or worse for the movie
At least he has built a resume.
Look at my original post - I said the directors, writers, and cinematographers related to the movies I mentioned.
Aside from directing Annabelle, he is the director of photography for:
- Child's Play 3
- Dead Silence
- Death Sentence
- Insidious
- The Conujuring
- Insidious: Chapter 2

And 2 other films that are better than Mortal Kombat: Annhilation! But the guy responsible for 8 episodes of a TV show = total irrefutable genius.![]()

The remake of IT may be dead--or undead--but we'll always have Tim Curry. He's still floating down in the sewers of Derry.
