Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist thread

Cool easter eggs.

So, I was surprised to see Ryu unwillingly tap into the Satsu-No-Hado in order to win against Ken. I thought that would come later on.

Longtime lurker, first time poster and I HAD to create a account to talk about how AMAZING this series was. Some easter eggs if anybody missed them:

-When Ken tells Ryu there's a military base nearby. Guile?
-The Dan name drop.
-Could Charlie have been at that club tournament?

That was the town they went to later on to party. It was by that military base. No reference or appearance by Guile. I think they didn't want to get too ahead of themselves with lots of extra cameos. But we got references to other characters like Gen and Dan.

That would be cool if they introduced Charlie or Guile later and they maybe say they were there when they saw this street fight at the club.

Really liked the episodes!! So well-produced!! What a funny thing that something like this couldn't be thought of back in 1994.

Well in 1994 I don't think we had like Street Fighter Alpha and the perspective of all the other games and storylines that came out of Street Fighter.

I really liked that they focused on the drama and relationships of Ken, Ryu, and Gouken.

I like the idea of Akuma hiding in the shadows but god damn, I loved Joey Ansah in that dojo scene. I thought the makeup looked good, the voice was great and I loved the way he starred at Gouken as he exited the dojo. Brought a ton of presence to that scene.

Found this manip by someone named Quasi-Tick of Scott Adkins as Guile:

Yes all that was very well done, especially his sideways look back.

Ansah said Akuma's voice was his and Gaku Space's like doubled over and he played with the audio a lot to get that sound.

Did anyone else prefer it when the characters didn't look 100% game accurate? Akuma looked best in the past, in full traditional Akuma gear though, I thought he looked goofy. Christian Howard looked best as Ken when he cut his hair and didn't wear any gloves.

Maybe it's a stupid thing to complain about, and it was nice that they tried to stay game accurate, but most of the time I got too much of a cosplay vibe. Christian Howard and Mike Moh were perfectly cast as Ryu and Ken, and no matter what they'd wear, just when I see them next to each other, practicing martial arts, I see Ryu and Ken.

I think I would have preferred it, had they not looked game accurate until the very last episode. And during their training looked more like they did in the Animated Movie or Victory Anime.

I did like Ken's casual outfit. He looked like Marty McFly in Back to the Future.

Also, I think the fight club referee was Yoshinoro Ono, one of the Street Fighter game producers.

Does anyone know the significance behind the crazy old man? I believe the character is credited as "Goma." It looked like he brought young orphaned Ryu to Gouken. Is this meant to be Gen or someone else? I realize Gen is Chinese so he's probably not that.

Agree about Ken's casual outfit, I need that jacket!

Loved the series, really surpassed my expectatios. Hope it gets a huge number of views. Now I'm off to the gym because watching it get me pumped as anything!

Liked it when he showed up at the bar. It was like they could've been hallucinating him, or maybe he was really there. We don't know.

All I know is that he was hilarious every time he appeared in the series and harassed Ken.

Seriously, he was funny especially when he was picking on Ken about his Hadouken range :funny:

Yes, he reminded me of like an anime comic relief character, but he was done in live action and was actually funny. I think that's what I like about Ansah, he brings a sort of unique fresh prospective to this material. He's a total fanboy and geek and lives and breath this stuff.

I hope Ansah learned from his first directing gig, and improves when he hopefully gets to work on the continuation of Assassin's Fist. Fight choreography needs to be tighter, combat needs to feel more brutal, and hopefully the Hado moves will look more convincing. Maybe better camera angles would already help to make the Shoryuken look less like obvious wire work.

Oh, and I'd like to add: This was ****ing fantastic.

This is what happens when fans are allowed to make a show or movie as fans, and not hampered by corporate interests.

Man, I have GOT to get into Gouki's workout routine...that &^$@ looks beast. :wow:

That's Goutetsu's brother that went mad attempting to master Ankatsuken.

He's even wearing the missing board from the list of names on the wall.

Damn, I totally missed that. Serious amount of detail and love gone into this series. Of course, having the passion and enthusiasm is great, but it doesn't guarantee a great finished product. I think that was partly at the back of my mind having followed the lead up to this series release -that the love and dedication to the source material was evident, but if the acting or directing or script didn't come together, it would mean little. But wow did it exceed expectations. I think that's the general consensus from the reactions I've read. Capcom needs to help fund a second season and just step back and let the same team do their thing again.

Wooga wooga

Edit: Damn Ken's actor is the spitting image of this.

Rewatched an Episode of Castle. And who do I see? Ryu! :awesome:
