There does not seem to be a movie edit on there :(

I've begun watching. There's a lot to like about the series and I have to say that as a fan, I do love the labor involved in it.

Awesomeness so far

Just got to episode 4. Really liking this approach so far.

At first I thought they were doing a Guile cameo in the street fight. :D

I was very surprised that they gave us the entire series in one shot. Was expecting maybe a clip/episode a week or so. Yay !!! And now I've finished it all. I know some still haven't seen it all yet so I won't spoil anything for those who haven't finished as I did.

One thing I really have to compliment on was the script. It was a lot better than I expected and the actors carried the responsibilties well. This is not just a rehash of the Generations anime.

The story drew me in and Gouken in particular was a much more fascinating and well developed character than I expected. Delving into the history of the previous generation of Ansatsuken artists and those of the present one, the series gave us a solid foundation to build the Street Fighter Mythos.

The principle favourites do well in their roles. Ken and Ryu bounce off each other wonderfully and Chris Howard as Ken looks like he had a lot of fun with that. I'm a big Ryu fan and for me Ken Masters steals a lot of scenes here. Seeing their bromance was a delight.

It was Gouken however who was the heart of this story and props also go to the actors behind Goutetsu and Gouki. Goutetsu was a commanding presence and radiated authority whenever he was onscreen. Gouki was a highlight as well. I know Joey Ansah as Akuma was picture perfect when he showed up but I had to admit that I enjoyed seeing Gouki's humanity portrayed here.

There is a bit of somewhat wasted potential in the storytelling but I cannot fault the direction for that. Even as the limitations of the budget showed at times, I never found myself bored. Ultimately I felt that even if we took away the action and fights, the story stood very well on its own.

This was a great series and with the modest budget they hand this was really well done. Capcom need not look further to see that a great live action Street Fighter film is possible.

I dare say that with the right ingredients, they could build this much like how Iron Man started the Marvel Cinematic universe.

I just finished episode six and I am LOVING this. When Ken started practicing the Dark Hadou, I let oh an "oh ****".

"Did you take drugs last night?" :funny:

Ok I gotta say I LOVE this frickin series.

The Storyline puts a lot of elements of Street Fighter's mythos in perspective, the fighting is reminiscent of the games with their techniques reminding me of their SF 3 movesets, The acting for each role was superb, especially Gouki, Ken, and Gouken.

This take on Street Fighter just oozes authenticity in every way where you just feel like you're being told a SF story from Capcom themselves.

I also love the Capcom shoutouts with Gouken buying Megaman for Ken and Ryu :funny:

Honestly Capcom should just make this series the official canon from here on out and I CANNOT WAIT for Joey's adaptation of the World Warrior's Tournament.

I give this series a very strong 9.5/10. This series is everything I hoped for with MK Legacy but didn't get.

I also might have to say this is the best live action Videogame film period.

I agree on all points

I also love how the ending set the groundwork perfectly for Ken winning the tournament in America by beating Guile and Ryu beating Sagat in the World Warrior's tournament....just in time to return and find Gouken "dead" from fighting Akuma. Which sets off the events of SF Alpha

Joey Ansah said the blu-ray version will have additional footage FYI.

They plan on doing a few different versions of this.

I was kind of hoping for a little more closure with Akuma/Gouken at least.

But this show was great. Great production values too. Great music.

I so cannot wait for the Blu-Ray version of SF:AF but we all know that Gouken and Akuma's "closure" takes place at the same time as SF1's storyline so you'll have to wait on that one lol.

I pretty much agree with you on the greatness of the show though.

OK, I'm happy to say that I loved the heck out of this series. I loved it so much! I think that this series deserves our support.

I didn't get a few things like blocking the hadou, but I think further rewatches may remedy that.

The only gripe for me was that the video games thing kinda took me out of the experience temporarily. :P

Also, did my eyes deceive me or did I just see the Street Fighter guy, Ono? :hehe:

This was some solid stuff. Only major complaint I had, was Akuma. He looked boss an threatening in the past, when he trained, his outfit was all dirtied up, and you could barely see his face, because of his hair obscuring it. He looked like a force of nature. In present day though, way too goofy.

I really wish they would have never given us a clear look at his face, especially when he confronts Gouken. They should have used camera angles, that obscured his face most of the time. Show us a side view of his mouth when he talks. Keep the camera behind the shoulder. Focus on his strong back. Make him this dark, ominous presence. Really focus on the demon aspect of the character.

Oh, I also didn't like Akuma's finisher. There must be a better way to pull that off. But except for those two things, I loved it. It wasn't perfect, because sometimes budget constraints were obvious, fights could be a bit tighter, and the camera work could have been better. But for a web series, still ace.

After viewing the trailer for the series I was not expecting much from this at all, and I'm happy to say I was very wrong because I LOVED it! By far the best video game adaption I've seen, which is impressive given the very limited budget they had to work with. The script was very well written and perfectly captures the essence of the game. The acting was fantastic across the board, and the way they portrayed the abilities of the fighters was awesome. The fighting was also very well choreographed, really my only disappointment was the ending leaving a few things hanging. But it is forgivable as it has me anticipating the sequel greatly. 9.5/10

At the premiere, Joey Ansah also mentioned doing like a 140(? maybe an hour and 40 minute) minute "theatrical cut."

So it seems like he has a shorter complete edit of the whole show in mind.

I agree on keeping Akuma more obscured. I think that scene where he comes to meet Gouken and Ken and Ryu show up should've been at night.

However, this was also Joey Ansah's first time directing like a show like this. All things considered he did a great job I think.

My favorite scenes are when Goki does his gradual transformation into Akuma in the cave. There was a part where he goes deeper into the cave and it's like he's going deeper into hell to give himself to the devil.

Now I'm in the mood to play Street Fighter again. But it'll still be 2 months until Ultra is out. In Europe at least. :argh:

Something I noticed:

Ryu loses all of his fights with Ken :D

Hahaha yeah except for the little scufffle they had as kids when Ryu socked him in the stomach lol.

Seriously though, this detail actually made me happy due to Ken beating Ryu in their fights during SF Alpha 2 and SF2

The end part of Gouken holding back his tears was difficult for me to watch.

So does this mean that the Ken's Alpha 2 ending was real? That's pretty cool!

I guess it's all up to interpretation.

Isn't it canon that Ryu won the second world warrior tournament?

I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but I got the sense that Akuma could very well be the result of some sort of tryst between Sayaka and Akuma. I mean maybe that's not feasible. But it seems to be going with the angle that Akuma is Ryu's dad.

The thing is, Akuma doesn't seem to have such interests. Like he's not PURE evil. Hard to believe he would rape a woman or something. He just wants to be a master and defeat strong opponents.

Well unless it was revised when Super SF2 Turbo happened then one detail that should be kept in mind...

In SF2, Ken vowed to not Marry Eliza until he beat Ryu......He married Eliza whom seems to not he bothered by Ken's competitive nature with Ryu.

So, Gouken met Gen, who taught him the emptiness thing? That's interesting, since there's a rivalry between Gen and Akuma.

Also, the Dan mention was cool too :funny:

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo will probably always be my favorite. Because you could play as the three bosses.

Hey what would you guys think of someone like Christian Howard playing Iron Fist/Danny Rand now?

Longtime lurker, first time poster and I HAD to create a account to talk about how AMAZING this series was. Some easter eggs if anybody missed them:

-When Ken tells Ryu there's a military base nearby. Guile?
-The Dan name drop.
-Could Charlie have been at that club tournament?
