Right. To me or you a specific instance is wrong or right because wrong and right are matters of opinion.

Because every moderator is Judge Dredd?

C'mon. Is it really unreasonable to want to know what the rules are? Because if I know the rules then I can expect everyone to follow them including the moderators.

Any excessive fighting or heated arguing between any number of posters that includes harassment of any kind may result in the closing of the thread, warnings issued to all involved users, probation, or possibly banning.

Harassment is defined in Webster’s dictionary as ‘to annoy persistently’ and includes name-calling, instigation of others, and bigoted remarks. This includes, but is not limited to, derogatory remarks about another's race, gender, religion, sexuality, or country of origin.

Will some disagree with the mods view on a discussion, and whether or not it breaks this rule? Sure...that is why there is more than one mod, and why we discuss these things quite extensively, probably more than most around here know. You think you guys have heated debates out here, please....your debates don't hold a candle to ours...:cwink:

:funny:

I dig that you probably discuss it, but why not have a forum that allows us to ask these kinds of questions or allow us to have input when we're called down on something.

It just seems like there's no defense. There are plenty of times I'm sure when someone could say: "Hey that's not what you said this time."

All I'm wanting is a definition of the rules that isn't so broad.

Also according to the FAQ calling Christianity ******** seems to be against the rules. ;)

Well, we have the FAQs, and you check off before registering that you have read and understood them.

This is a privately owned site, and those are the rules that Mirko wants the mods to use. It is not a democracy as some seem to think. We do not have a court system. If you have a question on an infraction that you have been given, or ban, etc...then by all means PM the mod, PM an admin. etc...we have had infractions, bans, etc...over turned. I have had those discussions quite often at times. If there is a question, we bring it to the mods and we discuss. The decision has been given to us to make by Mirko, the owner of this site. Therefore we make the final decisions. We have put in place a system that gives plenty of chances. Unless of course it is very evident that the person is a troll, and those are actually pretty easy to catch and take care of.

In fact, I had a poster just a few weeks ago ask me to bring his questions on his probationary ban to the mods. I made a thread in the mod room, and it was discussed.

Having a forum on it, brings in people that really its no business of theirs what the specifics of the issue is, other than what is seen on the thread and posts in question. It is between the poster and the body that has been given the job of making the decisions by the owner of this site.

There is no way to make a rule for every situation, that is impossible, and it won't happen...ever.

It is rather ridiculous that religion gets a free pass in the rules, but that's not to say I was surprised at all to see that.

 Why do you feel that religion gets "a free pass"? As I understood it, Kel just wants people to be/continue to be respectful.

I dig.

I'd like to continue this conversation later, but I think it's best if I do so on the suggestion forum instead of the religion debate forum.

They really need a moderator in here to prevent these side discussions.

:awesome:;)

Tell me about it...I may have to give us an infraction for derailing this thread.:csad:

:lmao:

You shouldn't infract yourself. You could go blind.

True, and I'm not much on soloing...AND I just figured out, I can't infract myself. Well, who'da thunk it?

The section of rules that Kel posted read that religion is one of the things that cannot be "attacked" by someone as if religion is up on an untouchable pedestal.

On a related note, Ireland is passing/has passed its new anti-blasphemy laws recently.

Thoughts, anyone?

That's ******. Just cause someone is a fan of Jesus or Allah... doesn't mean their fandom gets to go unmocked.

Man it must suck to moderate a religion thread. Thank goodness I never had to, or will ever deal with that. But man, does it suck moderating such a thread.

What an epic bummer. :awesome:

The key word in that is "attack". "Attack" has a malicious connotation. Isn't the thread supposed to be about debating? You can debate without attacking.

That is a concept that seems to elude a great many people whether they are discussing religion or the merits of Spider-Man 3. :p

Ok, I'm drinking my Jack Daniels Coffee mix I got for Christmas, do you think putting in a swig of that would be too much???

Hmmmmm.....I might just have to try that some time.

I really can't best my Irish Coffee, but I like trying new things.

if i ever get the chance, im adding vodka to my coffee :D
i think there should be an insight chat room, it came up in the "'Let Us Lounge, Let Us Lounge, Let Us Lounge!" thread, i propose using skype or chatango

I know there have been skype chats before. What about trying to schedule one?

Besides, isn't the hype chatroom called the Lounge? Lol

well htigns liek skype you dont have to reload the page to se new posts, and im always on skype as it is XD

If people are too lazy to reload a page, then all I can say is wow

Besides, at any given time there are prolly a couple hundred users on here and who knows how many guests. A chat like that would be extremely difficult to keep up with
