You are making me dissect quotes...and I hate doing that. :csad:

Here goes...

You are missing the point. The penis joke WAS inappropriate and trolling. It was, I plead guilty. The reason for the penis joke, however, was the ridiculousness of C Lee demanding that people not make jokes about ***** because ***** is a real person and because Boners situation was important to Boners family.

It's not ridiculous to ask someone not to make jokes about a person's death. Every other celebrity's death has been handled the exact same way on this site. From Michael Jackson, to Billy Mays, to this guy and everywhere in between.

But if we are going to start censoring comments simply because its "important to Xs family", it means we have to remove all the "Sarah Palin is an idiot" comments in the Sarah Palin thread. It means we cant make jokes about Executives at Fox or talk about the death of Rush Limbaugh.

Now you're just overreaching...

On the day Robert Novac died, we had a Mod call him "a bit of a *****e". Now Robert Novac MAY have been a bit of a *****e, just as the story of ***** BEING MISSING may have been BEGGING for immature jokes to made about it (again, not mine - mine was crossing the line - but all the jokes prior to it that resulted in C. Lees warning).

I'll have to go back and read the Novac thread...I don't remember that. Even if that was the case, there's a HUGE difference between saying 'he was a bit of a *****e' and saying 'oh well, I'm glad the d-bag is gone'. One is stating your opinion, the other is trolling.

Again, the fact a Mod made multiple warnings not to do something isnt justification of anything. If a Mod said I cant post a picture of a real life Buzz Lightyear in a funny picture thread - that doesnt mean I shouldnt be able to post a picture of a real life Buzz Lightyear in a funny picture thread. Just because a Mod says you cant make a joke (within the rules of the Hype) DOESNT mean that you shouldnt be able to make a joke (within the rules of the Hype).

If you are making a post for the single purpose of trolling a thread - LIKE POSTING A PICTURE OF A CACTUS PENIS OR CONTINUALLY REFERRING TO A PENIS BECAUSE OF THE ROLE THE GUY PLAYED - a mod is well within their right to put a stop to it.

Trolling is against the rules. Please don't make me start quoting FAQ and explaining it man...

The guy wasn't dead at the time.

Not at all. If we can't make fun of ***** because of his family, then why can we make fun of Sarah Palin - she has a family. Or Tilia Tequila? Or Rush Limbaugh? Or Uwe Bowl? Or Joel Schumacher? At the time the jokes took place, it was not a death issue - it was a "family going through a tough time" issue. That same defense could be raised about any of those individuals - ESPECIALLY Sarah Palin.

That also happened in that thread (people called him a traitor), but that's beside the point. No one said anything remotely similar to "glad the d-bag is gone" in the ***** thread.

If it was only my post that was deleted, you would be correct. But mine was simply the most extreme. Other posts were deleted and removed for far, far, far, far less.

Again, none of this has to do with me. I have no problem with being penalized for making a post that obviously went against the rules - if anyone thinks that is what this is about, they don't have a clue. What I find offensive was the moderation of the thread BEFORE I went in.

OK, just for everyone's sake, here is the warning C. Lee gave:

And people....a man is missing, could be suicidal, could be dead.....leave the cheap jokes out of here.

There is nothing ridiculous about that. Yes, this guy played a character named "*****" on an 80s sitcom. If you have the mentality of a 12-year-old, I'm sure these makes for hours upon hours of hilarity.

The fact is, that thread became overrun by stupid jokes with inappropriate images and had more deleted posts than actual posts - and this was before you posted your image. You can't see the number of posts that were deleted because you're not a mod, but there are a lot of deleted posts on that thread.

It had reached a point where C. Lee reminded everyone what the reality of the situation was and asked simply to keep the cheap jokes out. It was not an outrageous request.

He was not asking everyone to stay in a deep state of mourning over an actor they didn't know, but to just use a little common sense and quit with the stupid jokes. We changed the name of the thread to try and deter the "*****" comments. That's all we were trying to do.

He's not that well known and the thread would most likely fall into obscurity by the time the weekend was over. But the thread had definitely crossed a line, and we couldn't have that.

People have been infracted comments like that, and warnings just like the one C. Lee posted in the Koenig thread have been posted in those threads as well.

Again, the fact a Mod made multiple warnings not to do something isnt justification of anything. No, because rules apply to you too - that picture you posted was offensive, you admitted it yourself that it was inappropriate and trolling. Even if a warning hadn't gone up, it was infractable regardless.

If you have an issue with a mod's warning, report it. We will discuss it, and we will decide if the rule should stand. You don't take it upon yourself to start doing what you feel is "right" and then complain when you have to suffer the consequences of your actions. Simple as that.

Stormin' I'm going to just hit on 2 things that you have said, don't see much reason to waste time with this any longer than that...

1. According to the owner of this site, YES, if a mod tells you 3x not to post a certain pic, or move on from a conversation, etc....then YES it does mean not to do what was stated, AND that mod has the ok from the owner of this site to take care of the matter as we see fit. IF you have a problem with what has happened, then you have the right to go to an Admin. and even further if you see it as a massive wrongdoing. So, really your comment is incorrect...

2. As far as Sarah Palin, again, you are incorrect...several infractions have come about from comments on that thread, as well as the eventually banning of one poster.

As far as the other incidents you speak of, I don't frequent any Uwe threads, therefore I can't speak on those.

What I see now, is a debate where points have been made, and it is now simply a repeat of said points and it is swirling into a Black Hole of repeat debate. My suggestion to you at this point is to take it to PMs and someone that you believe to be fair and speak on the issue with them. BUT, please understand that this has been discussed at great length among the mods, and the retribution you want will probably not come.

I think the debate is "all debated out....", its not a winnable situation, or even a competition really.

It's ridiculous that a Moderator thinks it's his job to judge morality. It's his job to make sure that no one makes a post that conflicts with Hype rules - not to make sure that everyone is acting mature.

It had reached a point where C. Lee reminded everyone what the reality of the situation was and asked simply to keep the cheap jokes out. It was not an outrageous request.

Yes, requesting "no cheap jokes" is an outrageous request. It gives the mods the power to judge which is a "cheap joke" and a "non cheap joke" which is purely subjective. Since there is no way of measuring the "cheapness" of a joke, there shouldn't be any attempts to do so. Mods should stay within the rules of the Hype.

He was not asking everyone to stay in a deep state of mourning over an actor they didn't know, but to just use a little common sense and quit with the stupid jokes. We changed the name of the thread to try and deter the "*****" comments. That's all we were trying to do.

But why deter the "*****" comments to begin with. The only reason the guy is on anyone's radar is because he played the character ***** (who is only remembered because of his name).

People have been infracted comments like that, and warnings just like the one C. Lee posted in the Koenig thread have been posted in those threads as well.

Would you like me to find quotes laying around in the Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh threads?

No, because rules apply to you too - that picture you posted was offensive, you admitted it yourself that it was inappropriate and trolling. Even if a warning hadn't gone up, it was infractable regardless.

Obviously this is completely irrelevant to the quote you were responding to.

If you have an issue with a mod's warning, report it. We will discuss it, and we will decide if the rule should stand. You don't take it upon yourself to start doing what you feel is "right" and then complain when you have to suffer the consequences of your actions. Simple as that.

I've already tried the latter before. Didn't work. I have had much more success this way.

You are mostly correct, and absolutely so regarding the status of the discussion. There is not much more I can say regarding it. I'm not taking anything like this, in the future or otherwise, to PM's. A discussion like this should be made public and open - this thread is wonderful for that. I hope no one else would as well. Discussions of moderation should have multiple opinions voiced by both the blue and red variety.

Anyway, I enjoyed the last couple of hours. It was a good stress relief. I'll be here the next time I see something wrong and the interest to discuss it.

Nooooseee what haz you pplz done!!! Dissect-a-quoting! Dissect-a-quoting!

That is one of three deadly sins of SHH. Smallville fanboyism, discussing Jessica Alba's acting abilities, and this... begone evildoers :cmad:

So wait. We weren't supposed to keep telling that joke about Farrah Fawcett's last wish being to protect the children of earth.... so God killed Michael Jackson. Oops.

Can I report someone every time he posts and his grammar is completely terrible? It's literally just trolling.

then everyone on the hype will be called a troll

What is the best way to kill an attention ****e?

Deprive them of the attention.

oh nozeees, I cant tell who is Marx and who is Aesop

You can report a post for trolling but not for grammar I'm afraid
