Tough decision, today it's really hard to hide such stuff. Maybe they didn't need to license Doomsday toys to hide it... So it's probably WB's fault.

I was thinking that the events of the finale of Suicide Squad run parallel with the ending of BvS. It could explain how there could be so much damage and no one showing up. Also by the sound of the opening the Squad was put together to take down Superman.
