Supergirl Supergirl Season 2 Episode 5 - "Crossfire" MAJOR SPOILERS

on the other subject that crime gang that cadmus was using. Man that gang leader of that gang was beyond stupid. I under stand why Lena's mother had him killed.

but it did make introduction/ precursor to inter gang. hopefully some day we'll have them in the show giving both kara & clark trouble. And give inspiration to the video game makers. just don't make their leader as dumb as this guy. Cause wow.

They need to make Mon-El bi so he isnt just another straight fratbro. Spice him up a little.

Overall the episode wasn't to bad, Mon-El/Kara were funny together, James' whole Guardian arc seems a bit rushed (no surprised), and the big reveal at the end...meh. Cadmus being the big bad is just boring to me with the way they are conducting it. It could've been great but it is so terrible generic.

The fight scenes though....they were a bit painful, you could see that that they were stunts and not even anywhere near connecting with the actors faces/bodies.

Agreed with this. I feel like the action has been improving this season but this ep felt like a step backward in that department.

Both of those are new writers to the show....neither were in the first season. Looking forward to seeing what they can put together.

Well they are certainly paying off!

So:

Maggie and her girlfriend broke up. I guess they really are setting up Maggie and Alex.

It happened faster than I thought it would, though they must have gone on more than three dates for Maggie to be so effected by it. That, or she really liked that other woman. But it's alright, Maggie, there's a better woman even closer than you think!

Again, another good episode, and that must be a lot of thanks to the additions to the writing team. The scenes now have more weight to them, whereas before even during a dramatic turn they always felt a little too light.

The scenes with Kara and Mark... I mean Mike, were pretty good. I think they will always seek to give him a comedic edge, but I also think that when he finally opens up, he'll be kick-ass!

One of the best scenes was Kara's reaction to Mon-El's 'Winn-moment' in the supply closet. Especially if she is starting to 'like' him. That look on her face and her retreat against the wall were just priceless.

And I really like how Lena and Winn had a cute geek-on-geek moment under the table! I now wouldn't be surprised if they start writing Winn and Lena as a possible pairing. They are a pair of visible opposites and who clearly have more in common.

A big surprise was that our favorite Cadmus Doctor was Lillian Luthor! I don't follow the comics close enough to know too much insider info so I didn't see that coming. However, I think this firmly sets Lena on the good guys side. Her reaction to seeing her adoptive mother wasn't friendly at all, and the device under the table was clearly something she cooked up by herself, without any Cadmus help.

Do I think she is as pure as the driven snow? No, but I don't think she's bad either. She's a nicer, female version of Max Lord. I think she has the same ultimate goal as Lillian, that being the protection of Earth, but I think how they go about it is just one more in a bag full of wedges between them.

.
agreed but he's new to the planet. and it's as alex told her . plus when kara was complaing she sort made the point her self she was kid when she came to earth and she had time to assimilate and learn things about earth cause she grew up here as kid . him on the other hand it'll take a bit like a year or two to learn things as young 20 something adult.

as to Jame's vigilant thing compared to other's that have went that route, if the others like barry and oliver teams here about Jame's reason about what set him off to become one ,they will or should freaking laugh.

I was a normal guy that was side kick to super heroes, but I was always in the back ground, but one day I got too eager and I lost my father camera while struggling with crook. Now I choose stop crime everyday after the event of me loosing my old man's camera of my own doing . I am James Olson, I must become some one else , some thing else. the other vigilante hero's looking at him and Diggle shaking his head at James in shame . .

anyways I said I'd give this a chance and I still will. but he caused that event him self. I know he was trying to help. but still....

oh james .

It kinda cracks me up that Kara made this big show as Supergirl at the Gala, telling Lena she'd be monitoring the perimeter, ready to spring into action at the first sign of danger, but then immediately went back to being Kara, whose primary interest was in scoping out the food. Potstickers= Supergirl's real Kryptonite.

lol Kara should've asked M'Gann for a favor if she was free that night. if hank wasn't available. That's what I said when I saw her have to play switch around . lol my sister told me on the phone that if kara keeps doing this Lena will get obviously suspicious.

I'm surprised that the "Alex comes out" thing happened this quickly. I expected it to take at least a few more episodes to happen. Not a complaint mind you, merely an observation.

Also Mon-el is a great example of a character that might not work on paper, but the actor MAKES him work.

I thought it was another fun episode.

Like my Smallville days, the title just made me think of this...

Speaking of Smallville, I think the dude who had a few lines at the CatCo news meeting is the same guy who played Ron Troupe...

she hasn't come out to every one , it seems. like she hasn't even come out to kara. but was about to with that discussion she had with kara over Mon-El.

which if your not paying attention would throw you off that she hasn't noticed this her self (<<alex) and was just realizing it all right there and was about to tell kara ,which some people may think kara knows this from alex telling her Alonggggg time ago. it seems that's not the case yet.

With the exception of Maggie which Alex still didn't fully say it . but I'm sure Maggie got it.

Too... much... cuteness.

Fun episode. Kara and Mon-el are just perfect. Particularly loved Winn and Jimmy commenting on it when they were dancing. Alex stuff was great. Excellent acting on Chyler's part.

Another good episode though im not feeling the whole Jimmy Olsen crimefighter thing. The guy who plays Mon El reminds me so much of Paul Rudd.

Ok I feel dumb after seeing the promo because when I read the description for 1x06, I totally didn't connect the dots with the "parasite" taking Kara's powers being THE Parasite. Like what kind of terrible Supes fan, lol.

Don't feel bad, it may not be THE parasite aka max Jensen aka Rudy jones aka Dr Freedman but simply A version of the parasite, after all the parasite has never been an alien.

your right it hasn't it's always been someone that became a meta human or tech added to him . and last week scorcher was sorta too similar to volcana when you think about it. she can pass for her and people would know the difference if you saw superman the animated series and they both use their powers.

I mean that I expected it to take longer just for Alex to realize it herself. Not a complaint mind you.

In the final moments of tonight's episode of Supergirl, there's a game-changing revelation for Alex Danvers -- one that audiences have likely seen coming for a while now.
That is to say, she's not only realizing that she's a lesbian -- or at least bisexual -- but also that she is in love with National City Police Detective Maggie Sawyer.

That is to say, she's not only realizing that she's a lesbian -- or at least bisexual -- but also that she is in love with National City Police Detective Maggie Sawyer.

It's a process that took her a while to really come to terms with -- early in the episode, she was so giddy to hang out with Maggie that it set off the cop's sensors, and Maggie told her point blank that she "didn't realize [Alex was] into girls." That led to a momentary panic by Alex, who denied it and backed awkwardly out of the conversation.

That led to a momentary panic by Alex, who denied it and backed awkwardly out of the conversation.
"You'd be surprised how many gay girls I've heard that from," Sawyer said, in a comment that clearly unsettled Alex a bit.
During a recent visit to the set of Supergirl, ComicBook.com was among a small group of reporters who got to talk to Melissa Benoist about how Alex's journey might impact the season going forward, and her relationship with her adoptive sister in particular.

“Well, I think that really season 1 served the purpose to get Kara on solid ground with herself, so now that Alex is kind of going off on her own path and learning something about herself, I think Kara can be there with an open mind and an open heart,” Benoist said.“These two are inseparable and their bond is unbreakable, so whatever happens, Kara is going to be there for her.”

Before the season started, producers pressed on the question of increased representation in superhero shows said that a major character on one of The CW's DC Comics series would come out as gay in the coming months. Many fans immediately assumed it would be Winn Schott -- which would theoretically be a way to get his crush on Supergirl out of the storyline.
Once Sawyer was announced as joining the show, though, all eyes turned to Alex as a potential suitor for the cop, who has served in both Metropolis and Gotham City over the years in the comics, and who was once engaged to Batwoman. Her first on-camera appearance, in which she and Alex had instantly-visible chemistry and Maggie's sexuality became an immediate topic of conversation, erased any doubt most fans had that the two would become the next will-they-or-won't-they couple of National City.
...And tonight, we're one step closer to the "will they," even though when she was pressed on the question, Alex still couldn't quite bring herself to say the words out loud.
Supergirl airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

No it made me think of the bonus round on the 1975-79 game show, The Cross-Wits hosted by Jack Clark. Basically, it was a simple game of crosswords where the words were clues to ID a person, place, thing. Two celebs played with a civilian contestant for points and prizes; each puzzle was worth a prize with the big bonus of a car if someone places one clue on the board and nails the solution. Each letter in the word was worth 10 points with 100 points for the solution. I mention the points because if a player scored 1000 points or more, the player would win $1,000. The team with the most points won the game. The Crossfire round was to solve 10 rapid fire crossword clues in 60 seconds or less to win a vacation and more prizes. The announcer on the show was Jerry Bishop, a man whose voice is still heard today...on Judge Judy.

I watch too much TV or YouTube...I need help!

And as for that Lena/Doctor end segment...

WELL...

With the exception of Maggie which Alex still didn't fully say it . but I'm sure Maggie got it.

I thought it was interesting because I'm pretty sure Maggie was pushing her to say it and Alex couldn't quite bring herself to. That's part of why I liked the scene. She's having baby steps, but she isn't fully out yet. She's basically only beginning to realize who she is.

I think this is Melissa's first venture into physical comedy. She has a bit to go before getting to a Lucille Ball type of comedy with her reaction/semi-pratfall, but this was a good start

And I really like how Lena and Winn had a cute geek-on-geek moment under the table! I now wouldn't be surprised if they start writing Winn and Lena as a possible pairing. They are a pair of visible opposites and who clearly have more in common.

Two words: GEEKS RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do I think she is as pure as the driven snow? No, but I don't think she's bad either. She's a nicer, female version of Max Lord. I think she has the same ultimate goal as Lillian, that being the protection of Earth, but I think how they go about it is just one more in a bag full of wedges between them.

I can only hope that. But for now, my new sinister meter on Lena went from 2% (her geek out with Winn) to 100% (the revelation The Doctor is...HER MOTHER! For the record The Doctor is at full blown 100% and is on a sinister level with al-Qaeda, ISIS and George Soros...YEAH, THAT EVIL!).

That scene took this episode from a 7 for me (politics of the 2nd Amendment bashing, but promotion of true office diversity [thoughts as well as physical make-up] and so-so fight scenes along with great flying and landing effects (Supergirl was so smooth in both, but I liked the flying better than the landing), and of course Mon-El's very laugh out loud scenes including another gross out for Kara (poor kid she's being POISONED!) to a 9 for me. That revalation has "game changer" written all over it.

Indeed.

wait......so Lena's Mom is the Cadmus lady, right??

overall, another solid ep - aside from the James/Guardian stuff which just feels rushed.

I especially loved the Kara/Mon-El moments at work and Kara at the party.
