I think Shepard works better as a woman, mainly because as a her the voice actor doesn't suck so bad it's nigh unbearable. That, and you can't romance Garrus with a male Shepard, making a role as a man totally pointless.

I actually think they reversed positions in ME2, Hale sounded a bit more uncomfortable whereas Meer seemed to have a better grasp on his character whereas it was the other way around before. They're both still very good, it was just something I noticed. Not to mention he's getting even better with each successive DLC.

Finally got around to playing Assassins Creed: Brotherhood and Red Dead Redemption. I finished the former, and enjoyed it a lot. I'm liking RDR a lot more than I thought I would, too. But I still think I'd give it to ME2 (unless RDR seriously gears up, but I think I've got a good hold on how much I'm going to like it).

Im really surprised that FFXII didnt receive more Best Graphics awards

How far along are you in Red Dead?

thats bc there were better looking games. I was tempted to give it best artistic design with my choices but as far as best graphics, I think God of War 3 and Heavy Rain beat it

I got past the time when
his former gang tried to hang Bonnie and you had to save her
, and stopped at a mission for that fake medicine man that you have to race carts (which I hate, blergh).

Having played it in the final weeks of the year, I would have to say Fallout: Vegas. It's an immensely more enjoyable game than fallout 3 was.

Is this poll going to close anytime soon as I haven't played all the games on that list that I want to yet.

I don't think so. Technically last year's poll is still open.

No, I didn't set a timer on it. And if last year is any indication, this will probably be stickied until November 2012. :funny:

Ben Yahtzee's end of the year lists tend to be more interesting than the usual fluff. He placed Just Cause 2 as his game of the year.

He placed Mass Effect 2 in his neautral list.

The first is Mass Effect 2. The game has featured prominently in many top 5 lists, but Mass Effect as a series still gives me this feeling of strangeness I can't quite put my finger on. The story's perfectly fine, the gameplay's functional if not outstanding, the space exploring is exactly the sort of thing I should like. But the plasticky, expressionless faces, the overly clean environments, the unconvincing voice acting and the unnatural animations that don't sync with the dialogue rather eerily put me in mind of The Prisoner. It's like I'm steering marionettes around a pen and paper campaign put together by an autistic from space.

I pretty much agree with this, with added complaint of the unresponsive NPC's staring into space.

Just Cause 2 is one of the most fun games that came out this year. You can grapple to a helicopter, throw them out, destroy the base, and then parachute out.

Just Cause 2 like the sims, seems more of a toy than a game with objectives.
I spend most of my time not actually doing any of the missions, just farting about blowing crap up.

Thats pretty much the focus of a sandbox game. I tend to have more fun doing my own random stuff in GTA and RDR as well then the actual story missions.

I don't get that with GTA III or Vice City. The missions themselfs were usually more fun than going on killing spree's, which get old fast.

No me and my friends definetly had more fun with the random killing sprees, especially with SA as it got even more over the top. Even with the recent GTA IV, I just loved hijacking cars and going around causing as much chaos as possible, blowing things up and killing people. RDR had a whole living world out there with the ambient challenges quite satisfying experiences themselves.
