My other issue with Zod is he’s just another (insert Ryan George voice here) “villain with the same powers as the hero!” Yeah I know that’s what Ultraman is too but at least he’s mostly just Lex’s muscle. Zod is just another guy from Krypton for Superman to punch. That’s not to say that he can’t be done well but give me a more interesting villain visually and also in terms of abilities. If they want to do villains with a Krypton connection, Brainiac is the obvious way to go, and maybe the Eradicator. Or both, with Eradicator originally working with Brainiac until Superman convinces him to switch sides.

Eradicator is interesting especially with Superman having robots protecting the Fortress. Eradicator could easily be an upgrade to the fortress defenses after what happened with Lex. I certainly see how you can easily have Brainiac in this as well. I would love for Braniac to try and recruit the last kryptonians to join him. With Kara excepting his offer. Superman 2 has lots of storylines to choose from.
 
Agree on Zod.
Give me Brainiac, mongul, or, He11 give me Solomon Grundy or Metallo before we see Zod again.
No to doomsday as well.
 
I wonder if Kandor would have the same effect on Superman right now after he found out that bit in the last movie? Although maybe it would be good to teach him not all kryptonians think like that
 
Well, regardless of how he might feel about the inhabitants of Kandor personally, if Clark found out Brainiac was keeping them all prisoner and doing experiments on them, he would absolutely do everything he could to save them.
 
He’s probably been suggested before but I’m watching The Amateur right now and Rami Malek would be an AWESOME Mr. Miracle. Maybe his costar Rachel Brosnahan could recommend him to Gunn. I mean, I’m sure Gunn is familiar with his work, but whatever.

No idea where Mr. Miracle and Big Barda fit into the wider DCU plans but they showed up a lot in those 80s/90s JL comics that Gunn seems to be a fan of. I think they announced an animated project recently right?
 
Mr. Miracle would be awesome in James Gunn’s DCU. Granny Goodness dispatches Big Barda to earth to find him not knowing that they are secret lovers. Mr. Miracle is doing a magic show in Metropolis. Barda causes a scene and Superman to the rescue. After a few rounds with Barda, Superman is told of the war of the New Gods. You can go lots of ways with this. Does not have to be full Darkseid, just Granny and the Ferries with New Genesis characters as well.

Yeah I like all of that. I’m pretty rusty on Darkseid and the New Gods but I was watching a YouTube video yesterday where this dude was explaining how Darkseid and Apokalips exist essentially outside the multiverse and don’t have duplicates in other universes (I didn’t remember this) so he could work as the big bad in a Crisis event instead of Anti-Monitor. I’m wary of building up to Darkseid since that was what Snyder was doing but also because Thanos was loosely based on Darkseid too and I want the DCU to differentiate itself from the MCU. I’m also wary about multiverse shenanigans for this reason too.

And yet… as a DC fanboy through and through, a (loose) adaptation of Crisis on Infinite Earths will always be something I would love to see on the big screen and it’s the crossover I always think of when I think of comic book multiverse stuff. So it could be fun to build towards, and they already laid some of the groundwork already with pocket universes and all that. And starting out with characters like Mr. Miracle and Barda could be a cool way in.

Darkseid to me is the greatest villain in comic book lore. The issue is Marvel came out with Thanos first even though Darkseid and Thanos are nothing alike. It is kinda like Brainiac and Ultron. Thankfully Marvel screwed up Ultron so a Brainiac introduction won’t mess with the general audience to much.

I believe Gunn’s secret project is something with Kumail Nanjiani (possible Booster Gold) I remember him hanging out with the Superman crew during the Olympics. I don’t think that was a coincidence. There were lots of pictures going around with Kumail, David, and Rachel together.

Oh yeah I remember that. I’m not a Booster fan but I do love Kumail so I would be happy to see him in anything really.

And yeah, at least in terms of the comic book versions, Thanos and Darkseid are nothing alike aside from the look. As I remember it, Thanos was originally going to somewhat resemble Metron but Kirby told them to style him after Darkseid because he looks cooler lol. So that’s why Thanos has Darkseid’s look but Metron’s chair. I personally prefer Thanos (and I loved what the MCU did with Thanos to make his horrible actions seem a little more… understandable I guess) because he’s just CRAZY AF. Part of me still wishes they would have just gone all-in with him in the movies and let him be a lunatic obsessed with knocking the boots with Death lol. But it was probably a wise decision to avoid that.
 
Maybe a little more All-Star Superman but swap Solaris with Brainiac. Keep Parasite for a mid-film action sequence, and cap it off with Superman fighting a super-powered Lex before heading to the sun with Kara and Krypto to defeat Brainiac.
 
I think Bradley Cooper is too much of a big actor for him to be Jor-El for just a cameo video. I would love for Superman 2 to show Jor-El’s interaction with Brainiac. I don’t want to see the destruction of Krypton but Jor-El in his everyday life either creating Brainiac or interacting with each other.
 
There was some YouTube I was watching (maybe Nando?) where it was suggested Jor-El could be this universe’s General Zod.

I don’t know if I love that, but it could be interesting. And CBMs love having their heroes fight their dads (Hulk, GOTG2, Infinity War, Shang-Chi).

Maybe Jor-El and Lara are still alive in the bottle city of Kandor, so still keeping Brainiac in the mix. Brainiac promises Jor-El Earth as New Krypton but double-crosses him. Inspired by his son, Jor-El sacrifices himself to save Superman’s new home.
 
I definitely think brainiac is better in Superman 2 than a justice league movie because brainiac is more personal to Superman.

What about new support cast? Anyone you would add?

I like bringing McCallany from the DCEU to the DCU, but I was thinking Wade Eiling / The General.

As for Sawyer, my fancast was always Kate McKinnon but I’m not married to it
