Superman Reboot Writers Workshop

Whether SR missed or not, I still find it to be a better movie that Spidey 1 or 3 (Spidey 2 was quite good) which is to say it's at least a decent movie.

I don't know I didn't care for either of those movies. SR was especially really boring, a soap opera featuring Superman. Spidey 1 wasn't bad but sure did have its moments of boring. Spidey 3... ya a travesty.

I voted direct SR sequel. They can start over later I guess. Would take too long now.

Matt, I was just curious about 2 things in your story.

1. How would you portray Lana? Would you go for the traditional Caucasian Red-headed Lana? Or, would you go for the Smallville route.......a eurasian hottie like Kristen Kreuk? (I'm of mixed-asian heritage, too, so I wouldn't mind a Smallville version of Lana.....lol)

2. Also, would you use the traditional Superman costume?

Or, would you go for a more modernized, updated costume? One that retains the traditional color scheme and the traditional design.....just without the red undies.

Just curious.......

Alyson Hannigan. I like the red headed, all American farm girl look for Lana.

Traditional, minor tweaks.

I'd like to see a sequel to Superman Returns. I'm definately interested in seeing where the story goes from here.

The other thing I want, regardless of what else happens with the property, is to see Routh continue in the role. If Singer's next movie is shelved, bring Routh in to JL. They've got something special with this guy and I think they'd be making a big mistake if they don't use it.

I agree 100%.

Best case scenario for me is getting a Singer-directed Sequel starring Brandon, but if they go another route and Singer leaves, i still hope they stick with Brandon.

Great minds think alike I guess :cwink:

I spent a lot of time in Smallville, for several reasons.

1) A Tornado sequence where Clark flies for the first time could be an absolutely mind blowing visual.
2) It really establishes that CLARK KENT, not Kal-El, not Superman is who the character is.
3) I believe Lana, Pa Kent, and Ma Kent are very important aspects of Clark's life. Something no Superman film has ever truly established. I love after his first defeat, he retreats back to his security blanket that is Smallville, and they give him the courage to return. Like any son, he goes back to his parent's arms when he is scared. It shows his human side. And for that to work, a lot of time in Smallville at the beginning is necessary.

Don't get me wrong. I would've done exact the same with Clark Kent returning to Smallville after his first defeat, but I wouldn't have spent so much time in Smallville at the beginning, with the young Clark, his arrival on Earth, etc. But that's just my idea - your treatment kicks a** ;)

As for Corben dying in a car accident...I didn't really delve into it in my outline, but I love the bullet richocetting off Superman and him being unable to stop it in his temporarily weakened state, because it gives him some personal accountability. It makes him feel responsible for Metallo. I would go more indepth into that in a full on screen play.

Not bad, yeah. The car chase, well, I woudl've put it in for an excuse di have a car chase. :woot: But I have another idea for a chase in a Superman movie...

If thats the case though, why do they even fight? Doesn't that simply make Corben a good guy who is being blackmailed? Hell, it wouldn't even make him legally responsible for his actions as they were done under coercion. I like the idea of Metallo being a full on villain.

Got your point ;)

In pre-crisis, yes. I prefer post-crisis and TAS, where Jor-El isn't a prophet who knows his son will become a god, but simply a desperate man who wants to save his son.

As for the ship scanning planets, how does it make Jor-El look like an idiot? A ship that scans for a suitable home for his son is pretty ingenius to me. I simply mean it scans to ensure that the planet can contain Kal-El. It wouldn't do the baby much good if he landed on a planet with no water or life, now would it?

Prophet??? why would he need to be a prophet his a scientist and a genius by their standard. Is it so hard to believe they would have explored other planets before.

for a reboot, I would mix Donner, TAS, Byrne, and maybe a bit of Birthright... I've yet to read birthright, but I'm gonna give it a shot later today

I read your storyline Kak. Very impressive, I especially like the fact that you included the Eradicator and how you included him. You handled everything in a good way.

Matt a really great job on an origin of Superman, I love what you did towards the beginning including elements from the comics such as Lana and Clark and them floating above the fields. Really smart.

I will get to the other storylines later from other posters.

yay :D

I wanted the Eradicator more of a supportive role because in the next storyline called Superman: The Last Son of Krypton, it's gonna be a three way battle between Superman, a malfunctioning Eradicator, and re-imagined Zod with the death of a major villain in the story at the hands of Zod

That's great stuff, you sold me with the Eradicator, I want him included in some capacity on screen in a Superman movie.

I am actually going to post my entire Superman script, somehow as a link to a word document. I am editing it a bit but wrote it several years ago.
