Superman Storyline Revealed?

bosef,

I don't know. How rushed can a script be if Goyer's been working on it since the end of last year?

Remember the latimes.com article with the announcement that Nolan was producing Superman? That article was a while a go. Even if Goyer started at the beginning of this year, that's 10 months.

i call fake untill more evidence of realness has appeared...

a lot of scripts are rushed.

They won't start production on this film until mid to late summer of 2011. That's plenty of time to fine tune this script.

I mean, Jonah Nolan's been working on Batman 3 for at least a year. By the time they start production on Man of Steel, that script will have been worked on for at least a year if not more.

I think there might be some truth to the article but it just sounds too cynical, if you know what I mean. It sounded like Synder was picked out of convenience and in reality, I think WB has a very close relationship with the dude, to the point where they wouldn't (or shouldn't) treat him as if he's second rate.

Sounds beautiful!!! Superman Begins? HELL YEAH!

Octoberfist,

Not to mention, the latimes.com article mentioned that Snyder and Nolan talked about this possibility in March, in Vegas.

I think this partnership has been in the workings for a while. This wasn't a rush hire.

Starting production in late 2011??? I thought this film was targeted for a Holiday Season 2012 release date!

Mid to late summer 2011 is between June and August for a Christmas 2012 release. That's an appropriate production/post production time.

Sounds an awful lot like BIRTHRIGHT, huh?

lol, bull. Rushed script? My ass.

Project is looking very good. A Goyer script....rushed....directed by Snyder....beautiful.

The detail sounds the opposite of what we've been hearing the last several months. Calling it a fake...

Plus, it's not just Goyer's script. He, as always, made the pitch and proposed the overall story.

Well I hope they do base some stuff of Birthright. But Im not holding my breath

If the creative team behind Batman had a look at Y1 and TLH, I would think they'd definitely chack Birthright.

The idea of Clark deciding IF it's worth becoming Superman sounds fantastic. It's a base for good character development and a fitting theme.

Of course, the question then becomes how long in the movie before he becomes Superman? And after he does, will he grapple with his decision to continue doing it? If this happens, I hope we don't get a "I don't want to do this anymore" story in the middle of it.

I wouldn't mind if there is some sort of build up to Clark being Superman where we see more of the tension and strife in Metropolis building up, and Clark as journalist witnessing all of it, and becoming more and more frustrated and feeling helpless, where he decides to confront it all as Superman. But yeah, then it shouldn't become angsty and mopey. Like Batman, he decides to become Superman and then stays that way (although The Dark Knight did have that doubt.)

I feel like I'm the only one who is okay with them not revealing Superman until at least a third or half way through the film.

IF the script is such a mess why did they sign Synder and not Matt Reeves? I mean look at their cv.

Unless Warner was not interested at all i(as it suggested by Reeves that he has not ben contacted) or he wasn't, or he had an awful take on it .. anyways it's all rumors and speculation at this point. I mean Zod now? Birthright take? Months ago, we didn't exactly heard that.. i would trust official word ;)

I'd normally agree, but if they can't go the full monty with the origin--using Krypton, Smallville to an extent--then why delay revealing Superman? Maybe I was getting used to the idea of the story starting off with him already established.

It depends. I'd be ok with waiting on the suit reveal IF we see Clark performing saves and feats of strength at superspeed while on his travels around the world.

It would be kinda kool to see TV and newspaper headlines from around the world talking about a mysterious hero performing rescues, all at superspeed, so the only pics are just a (pardon the SV pun) blur.
