Superman was killed off in 1993 in an event storyline that shocked the world, Batman's back was broken and he fail for the first time, and Wonder Woman was killed off as well, and became a goddess of truth in the heavens.

Back at that time, and looking upon that right now, what were your thoughts on it past & present? Did you like the idea or hate it? Think it was eventful and mindblowing or just mindless crap.

Tell us your thoughts...

I liked the idea of Superman's death, but not how they did it. One of his regular foes like Parasite or Metallo (possibly several working together) should have done the deed, not Doomsday.

Superman should shoot Diana through the head with a laser beam and then die as Batman shoots Superman in the heart with a Kryptonite bullet, but then Wonder Woman's body falls on him, breaking his back.

I'd buy it.

I thought The Knight Fall Story with Bane and Batman was one of the all time greatest comic series ever.

this totally reminded me of the end of reservoir dogs.

looking back now, 52 is pretty much the same situation as knightfall, except the question probaly wont go bat**** insane.

The whole Supermen 's gonna die thing reeked of gimmick from the second they announced it. Then the put it in a plastic bag so the collectors would buy 2, one to read and one to keep in the bag for a collectable. THAT WAS SO LAME!

Knight Fall was a great story arch. I thought it was going to be lame when they announced it but they did it well.

Actually, the Question isn't really in the position Azrael was. He wasn't appointed by Batman. That distinction goes to Harvey Dent this time around, which just makes you wonder why Batman didn't learn his lesson about appointing psychos the first time around.

I liked Superman's death and Knightfall because it was pretty obvious that they'd be back. I didn't read much of Wonder Woman's death, but the idea of her ascending to godhood after is cool.

Or maybe Lex could have beat and stab him with kryptonite on New Krypton.:)

I still wish Question was the one picked by Batman instead of Harvey.. his intro in 52 was so great... then i keep reading and all hes doing is pissing off a two lesbians and Intergang. Its like Chasing Amy except Affleck doesnt have a face.

It's kind of cool now to look back and say, "Wow, Wonder Woman died and then became the goddess of truth!" as if it were some incredible milestone for the character.

But if you actually read that story by Byrne...you'd notice that it was pretty lukewarm -- almost forgettable -- moment for the character. The reasons leading up to the death were convoluted and awkward, and once she became a goddess she did nothing but float around looking at things when it could have been the most defining era of her career a la Black Adam and Thor. Then she was brought back to "life" without much fanfare. The best thing to come from the storyline was probably Hippolyta becoming Wonder Woman for a while, and even that wasn't without its complications.

Death of Superman got me into comics before I was into comics! (yeah, that's a double negative... shut up)

I haven't read much Wonder Woman, but seeing as I pretty much hate the character from what I do know about her, I'm guessing that story line would have met with me sleeping after a page.

Knightfall... i've flipped through the first book. It looked like an interesting premise, and probably the best of the three. However, the art. It made my eyes bleed. :(

I thought they were all stupid and pointless moments. Kinda like this thread.

If these three ever die permanently, I want Nightwing, Supergirl/Kara, and Donna Troy to succeed them as the new Trinity.

I was thinking of reading the story. From your point, guess not. In my mind, Wonder Woman will always be the mixture of the other two of Supes and Bats. She is a symbol and iconic and stands for things like Superman, and she has equipment at her disposal as does Batman. Either way, I still like her.

I didn't say anything. Some, if not most, people get involved into comics thru big events such as Superman's death. They would want to know what the fuss was about (Superman's death was BIG). Or it just happens to be the story people who got themselves into comics got started.

Knightfall... i've flipped through the first book. It looked like an interesting premise, and probably the best of the three. However, the art. It made my eyes bleed.

Now this story, while you got involved into comics with Death of Superman, I got myself into comics with Knightfall. I read some of the issues from Knightfall recently and its still good. Take your time when you look at the art. Its still a good story to read and get.

WELL I NEVER!!!
Seriously, why is it pointless? I believe, not Wonder Woman, but the stories here on Superman & Batman were the first BIG story arcs and they were big from reactions so I wanted to know if thats still the same today and the discussion past and present.

Don't expect that to happen. Don't get me wrong, that is an interseting idea but like what people said on the big three being different people pre-OYL: Clark Kent will always be Superman, Bruce Wayne will always be Batman, and Diana will always be Wonder Woman.

They don't have to assume their identities. They just have to succeed them.

What do you mean BIG story arcs? DKR wasnt big? Man of Steel wasnt big? Both were just cheap ploys to draw attention. Just like this thread. Really pointless and simply another Binker wants attention thread.
