I bet the villian being introduced will probably be the "mother" of all the monsters. Which if ALL monsters in all their various forms have the same mother Im gonna be so bummed. Well, maybe not. Given that the alphas are the first of their particular species I guess that implies that "mother" may be something else all together. I think it'd be dope if they explained that "mother" and all subsequent species manifested not only from early humans belief in monsters and gods but also just the development of religion and mythologies itself helped create them. Did that make sense?? I was having trouble on how to word that

This foe and the monsters could have come from a whole NEW world/dimension. With this they can just make up a new villain instead looking for one in myths.

The mother of all monsters is Echidna from Greek mythology. She never seemed that powerful though.

This would be disappointing to me... Part of the show's charm, IMO, has been the way they've been able to adapt legitimate lore and folktales into a good story.

Just cooking something up after this long would feel cheap.

And there is absolutely no news to the contrary, either. Seeing as how a year ago they weren't even sure if this season would happen, I think it's safe to assume it's 50/50.

While the Titans would be cool , Thanatos would be better. This is how the Greek poet Hesiod described him , along with his twin Hypnos :"And there the children of dark Night have their dwellings, Sleep and Death, awful gods. One thing I would like to see is The Sisters of Fate from Greek mythology. Maybe Sam and dean could find a way of bribing them into letting them go back in time and changing their mothers fate allowing them to live as a happy family in the end.

No , Supernatural's Death has always been for all we know. Thanatos was born of Nyx and Erebus. That and Thanatos hates everything and everyone. Death seems to be neutral , except for in the case of Dean for some mysterious reason.

What if death is testing dean for a job maybe his job. He's already let dean wear the ring and has mentioned that he is tired of it all. I doubt dean would take up the mantle of death, but death has a plan for him.

I really want an ancient powerful being in this season. Something that makes everything else piss itself. Something that was present at the foundation of everything. Perhaps something from Sumarian myths. Those are really old. Or maybe death is the enemy this season. Idk at this point it doesn't seem clear what's gonna be the power player this season.
