It will be interesting to see how this turns out, though I still think that this split is kind of silly. Hopefully they will merge into two tribes after only two or three eliminations.
There are definitely a lot of people who could be on multiple tribes but when you look at all three tribes separately, its obvious which tribe is which. From the cast videos I've seen so far, it looks like most of the beauty tribe are just as delusional/dumb as you'd expect.
I read a rumor that the cast was put together before the theme was decided. The smarties were sent to the Brains tribe, the athletes to Brawn, and the leftovers were made Beauty by default, I guess.
So apparently each beach will have two hidden immunity idols. One that can be used before votes are read and one that can be used after. I hate the idea of an idol that can be used after the votes are read. It makes one player (maybe two) practically invincible in the game until the final four. It better be damn near impossible to find.
I don't like this, it reminds me of the first season they had the hidden idol where it pretty much meant that nobody was willing to go up against the guy who had it.
They at least should put an early expiration date on those idols, perhaps they are only viable until the merge. The other option that I see is to not let people know if they have the before votes are read idol or if they have the after the votes are read idol. I prefer the first option but at least the second will offer some potential for suspense.
They should also plant fake idols, like the contestants have mocked up in the past. That way the only sure way you know you have an idol is if you followed clues to get it.
J'Tia still being there after two tribal councils is astounding. She did everything she could to get voted off. Boss people around during the shelter building, single-handedly lose the immunity challenge, pour out the tribe's rice...I mean, Kass was practically blaming Garrett for the rice getting spilled.
Really really strong premiere though. I think merging 2 episodes into one actually helped it. It was fun to see Garrett pull off a power move to get rid of his nemesis and then follow him straight out the door before the end of the night.
I really like it so far. No returning players thank god. And some incredibly stupid smart people at the start of the game. Looks like they casted this one really well.
The "Brains" tribe was really embarrassing. Some of them remind me of someone I know. Extremely smart guy from a science/mathematics perspective but has zero common sense whatsoever.
^The brains tribe is trying too hard to be clever. For example, look at how David ID'd Garret as the weakest early on and then tried to get rid of him at the first opportunity because he was worried about the endgame. He was thinking too far ahead. Getting rid of J'Tia would probably have improved the tribe's performance and morale and improved everyone's chances of making it to the end.
I hope the brawn tribe goes to council soon. There's real potential for fireworks there. Though the beauty tribe is dull and could easily shed some members.
My feelings about the cast are as follows:
I LIKE
Tasha - She's the heart and new boss of her tribe.
Kass - Though telling J'Tia she was going home was really stupid.
Spencer - I thought he would be unbearable but he's actually my favorite brainiac right now.
David - He seemed like a nice, quiet type. Too bad he had to leave.
Tony - I thought he'd be some roided up idiot but he has a lot of cunning and charisma.
Sarah - Real sweet and spunky.
Lindsay - She's gonna be hella entertaining. I love her in-your-face honesty.
Trish - She and Lindsay seem to be fairly similar. Maybe that's why they don't get along.
Cliff - Gentle giant.
Brice - He's hilarious.
Morgan - More devious than I had expected.
LJ - He just seems like a quietly astute and pleasant man.
I DISLIKE
J'Tia - She's nuts, and I'm tired of people messing with the food as retaliation for being on the chopping block. On the plus side, she'll have to live with the lack of rice.
Garret - Was he recruited? He didn't seem to want to be there at all, and his bullying of his tribe was annoying to watch.
Jeremiah - There's nothing wrong with him as a person but his accent is driving me insane.
I gotta give it to Morgan. The lie she told about what decision she had to make when she reached camp was awesome. The cop is starting to get on my nerves but I love his "spy shack" idea.
Just saw this yesterday, jeez are the 'brain' tribe a bunch of idiots or what? Well except for Spencer. Seems to be the only smart one of the bunch. J'Tia should've been voted out at the first tribal. I felt bad for Garrett, I see what he was trying to do but went at it wrong. The other two girls are flat out stupid for standing behing J'Tia. Especially after dumping the rice.
I kinda hate Spencer. The kid does nothing except pat himself on the back and call everyone else idiots. Though I might like him more now that he's been humbled a bit, I dunno.
