Agreed. But I blame the producers for this. Like I've said before, they basically stacked the tribes so one would worship the returning player and the other would vote him out instantly. They didn't know who would go where, but they made one tribe very easy to manipulate and the other paranoid to a fault (to the point where it caused their tribe to self destruct). I feel like the producers stacked this game to give Rob or Russell success based on which buff they drew.

Totally agree. The producers dropped the ball here. Russell and Rob should have had to pick their own teams. Unfortunately, TPTB always find a way to interfere in all of these reality shows. Doesn't look like it will change anytime soon.

The problem is then according to your theory Phillip should be on the other team. He is definitely the most paranoid and neurotic contestant I've seen in many seasons. But besides that you're pretty spot on.

I hate the so-called paranoid tribe though (I have no idea how to spell their ridiculous name). When the most likable person on your tribe is a rat-faced 30 year old lawyer, then you have serious problems. I don't understand how anyone can respect a completely illiterate bumpkin like Ralph either. He should be the Phillip of that tribe, a complete joke. But then they're all pretty much jokes on that tribe. Phillip finally hit the right note with his speech at Tribal about them.

No, Phillip fits in on the sheep tribe. He is paranoid but like Coach, not capable of rallying people around him. That makes him the perfect common enemy for someone like Rob or Russell to use to rally their tribe against (just as Rob did).

I still think it's too bad Rob and Russell even needed to be included. This season seemed to have enough characters, nutjobs, personalities that I think they would have been entertaining enough without the gimmick.

The Redemption twist is terrible and repetitive. Even if Matt wasn't winning every challenge it would still be dull. We spend 5 minutes of every show in that place, because there's no drama with just two people. Matt coming back when he obviously isn't cut out for this game was the ultimate case of interference.

I'm still waiting for Survivor to green-light a cold season. I guess they're afraid of a few pampered Cali kids freezing to death. So recruit from some place cold like Maine or Vermont.

I had thought about doing a poll every week for the duels...but didn't. The new poll asks 'What do you think of the 'Redemption Island' twist continuing despite Matthew's win?'

Please be sure to vote. I'm planning to hold a new poll for each duel every week.

She said she flipped on him because he is "flakey." Jealousy over a girl giving him a bible very well cost her this game. If she had Matt as her loyal foot soldier, teamed up with Zapatera and Marine Mike, they would've been final three and she would've won.

Do you think Mike would've taken them to the final 3? Hell no because then his entire tribe would've voted against him at the final tribal. Andrea is much better off sticking with Omtempe, either way I don't think she'll make it to the finals without a few key challenge wins. I think they did the right thing this week, there was no knowing which side Matt would take, better to get him out now, you've got the definite numbers advantage, no more potential flips and the hidden immunity idol on that tribe is flushed out. Love it when those are played badly, either not played and blindsided, given away, playing a fake one or playing it and no one votes for you.

Jesus.... at this point, Rob deserves the win. :o

Exactly. Matt being a complete moron doesn't prove that Redemption Island is a worthless twist.

Had any of the ladies that he defeated on RI come back instead, it's almost a guarantee that they would have lasted longer than he did simply because they weren't absolute morons and understood the game.
Yeah, that's true. That's the most frustrating thing.

Please lose next week, Matt. You had a second chance and you wasted it. You do not deserve a third. I'm sick of seeing you in that damn arena.

Rob...I think he made a good move, actually. He still has the numbers, and now he has limited the options of anyone planning to flip on him. Unpredictable people are not good to play the game around, you're better off knowing where everyone stands. It's his game to lose.

Andrea...I think she recognised that Matt was too dumb to flip, and once his name came up she figured she was better off cutting her losses. There is still a small chance of her winning this game, although she would probably need to convince Grant that Rob will take the girls to F3 over him.

I think if Matt had approached Andrea again he could have talked her into making a move but Matt was to dumb to read the writing on the wall.

Next week could be tricky for Rob since that would be the time point for a single defector to make his move. If I were Philip (and thank god I´m not :)) then I would vote with the other tribe and get rid of Rob or Grant (depending on who was being targeted) and then switch right back. This way he would move up at least one spot and get rid of a major threat. I doubt that Phil is smart enough to do this, he certainly doesn't seem able to keep his mouth shut about doing something like this ;)

Edit: About the poll, would be possible to have less definitive choices? I like the redemption island twist but I can't say that I love it :)

I voted that I love it, only because I do love the concept. Matt being a knuckle-head doesn't change that for me. I really think it could become an interesting part of the game going forward, not necessarily this season but in seasons to come.

I kinda feel sorry for Andrea now. She's worked hard in camp and really tried to help her tribe out and that moron Matt could cost her a shot at a million bucks now.

It's really Matt's fault things went down the way they did . I liked his plan though.. take out Steve and someone else , then flip.

I like the redemption island twist . I see how some would argue that person doesn't deserve another chance but it's still interesting.

It looked like Grant was going to do something like this in the preview.

I use the preview to judge what WON'T happen in the next episode. If they hint someone is going home they're most definitely staying.

That's a horrible plan, you need to have numbers for a the vote to work, how work flipping then have given him the numbers to vote an Ometempe out? At best there would have been a tie.

I havent watched this show in like 3 episodes. Has anything interesting happened?

Previews are notoriously misleading though...

That's true

For some reason I didn't catch that. I was thinking he thought he could rally Phil against Rob because Andreas and Phil are on the outskirts of that alliance

Matt made it off redemption island for the merge, thought it was god's will to go back to his tribe , told rob he had a change of heart about voting him out, Rob had Matt voted out anyway but not out of the game....because there's a second Redemption Island

Ralph decided played his immunity idol for Mike who proved himself a threat in the immunity challenge.... no one voted Mike.

Phil is still crazy.

Any guesses on the Final 3? It's early, but I have a gut feeling that it will be the unlikely trio: Phillip Sheppard, Ashley, and Natalie. I feel good about the two girls. Got my fingers crossed for Agent Sheppard. I mean, the only thing better then a Phillip Sheppard cross-examination of the finalists is a Phillip Sheppard delivering closing remarks followed by a Q&A!

To recap and highlight the contestants as I see it:

David: Missed his opportunity to take the Russell girls under his wing, realized it too late, and nearly got voted out for it. Has some spunk and could mix things up but seems to have motivation issues. He hated Sarita and thus was motivated to get her off. Right now, he's a spectator.

Steve: Sits around camp a lot. Like, every shot of him. Stewed and cried like a sissy boy because the Russell girls wrote his name down as they were getting voted out. Had the nerve to ask Stephanie why, and she told him. Because you're old and you sit around camp all day doing nothing.

Julie: Probably should have joined with Russell's group. She doesn't appear to have any social skills and isn't a world beater in challenges. Fodder.

Marine Mike: The only person that was shown trying to make a move for Zapatera post-merger. Immediately recognized the relationship between Matt and Andrea and did almost everything right to sway them. Hindsight says he should have targeted his efforts on Andrea and used her to reel in Matt instead of vice versa. Strong competitor, strong social game added by an aura of honesty. Targeted for elimination by Rob for these reasons.

Ralph: Not a well-coordinated athlete and doesn't have the right kind of smarts. Those aspects could play into him hanging around to be a key swing vote when Ometepe eventually breaks up.*
_______
Rob: Running the game right now. He's maybe played too well. He's made some bold, audacious moves. Has strong sway over his tribe, but he might be overplaying his hand. He's become a bit over confident. Has an immunity idol that only he knows about. It's his game but that makes him the biggest target.

Grant: Strongest physical competitor in the game. He's well-liked by all parties. These things will make him a target as the field is narrowed down. Is maybe too trusting of Rob, but is intelligent and has a feel for the game. Does he have a big move in him?

Ashley/Natalie: Pretty decent physical competitors. Laziness around camp hasn't endeared them to their Ometepe tribemates. Right now in the palm of Rob. Chief rivals of Special Agent Phillip Sheppard.

Andrea: Another pretty decent competitor, well-liked by most though her two female tribemates have some dislike of her, and a hard worker. Voted her closest ally out of the game after blundering by not taking control of their mini-alliance. The least trusted of the remaining Ometepe tribe. Only Ometepe with an honest friendship with Special Agent Phillip Sheppard.

Special Agent Phillip Sheppard: Strong competitor, very limited social game in the beginning as he was just weird and abrasive. Now he's playing a caricature of himself and making people laugh. His personality rubbing Zapatera the wrong way and his acquired trustworthiness with Ometepe make him a strong candidate for the final 3.
_________-
Matt: Destined to be booted off Redemption Island by Marine Mike.
