'Sword of Truth' aka Legend of the Seeker

Well that one sequence I was referring to was actually pretty tame as far as most of the Denna/Richard stuff went. It was actually quite sweet and romantic . . . and hot :D .

Last night's episode "The Listener" was ok. No real progression of the seasonal arch or even the characters necessarily. All things considered not the best filler episode but not bad either. Next week's episode looks much more interesting.

I think the kid should have been a few years older to pull off some of his dialogue. I think the only thing that really progressed the story was to introduce the Sisters and to show that not all the Daharan troops are happy with Darkan Rahl.

This episode seemed more like an excuse to somehow sneak a "Rachel" inspired episode into the show. I don't see them finding another orphaned child to take care of again.

Shouldn't the kid have been able to tell Richard and co. where Darken Rahl was from reading the minds of the D'Haran guards? Or did the guards not know?

I really enjoyed this week's episode. Seeker has basically become can't miss TV for me every week. I mean it's not excellent, complex TV but it's just a fun, little action adventure/fantasy series that's filled the void left by the loss of Farscape and things like that.

The stuff with Zedd and Josiah was really good. As well as working in some of the Confessor material from the books. A lot of good first book references this week.

Next week it looks like they are working in the witch Shota. Hopefully Denna will be not long after :D .

Damn, I wish I had abs like Richard. And wow, some hot Kahlan bathing in the river implied nudity. Fully awesome :D .

The show is interesting but it really deviates from the book. I don't mind that so much but some of my favorites storylines in the book seem to have disappeared. IMO, by Kahlan knowing of the Sisters of Light and being friends with them and not having to cross through the dangerous land (forget the name of it) that separates the Old World to the New World was disappointing. The Mud People, Nathan Rahl, the Mord Sith(?) all will be different, if they appear in this series, since that part of the storyline was skipped with the one part of Kahlan knowing the Sisters of Light. Still an enjoyable series though and one that is very looooooooooooooooosely based on the books.

It seems the episodes are getting worse. The newest one is yet another filler episode and not even a good one at that. Seeing the preview for next weeks filler ep has me horribly discouraged for this show and I'm beginning to lose faith. What happened to stopping Darken Rahl? There aren't even any scenes with him. They have also not done a very good job of explaining the swords power or Kahlan's for that matter, until last night and even then they botched it. I suppose audiences should be grateful for even this much because before this it wasn't even clear what she was doing to ppl when she touched them.

I have not seen any episode as it is not shown this side of the Atlantic but I am a big fan of the book series. I did not like the Hercules tv series because I found it to be too kitsch and nothing to do with the stories of Heracles. Will I be severely dissappointed if I buy the DVD whenever or if ever it comes out?

ahura, if your wanting the books made in to a show then you wont like the show it his so looooooosely based on the series, it's good fantasy , but it isnt good sword of truth, sorry. if you do like fantasy then buy it, just treat it like us x-men fans, the films are separate from the comics and so is this show, look at it like that and you'll enjoy it.

Even in the book they don't go straight for Darken Rahl.

Next week if that is Priestess Shota, it is an important episode.

^^^ it's suppose to be the witch woman, and in the book they were afraid to go after him. they tried to get the item he needed so they wouldnt hae too. shame that part of the story is gone, it's all about the seeker now.

Well, I don't really miss the boxes of orden to be honest.

Thanks X-Fan and if I understand the last two posts the series has very little to do with the books. Preistess Shota and no boxes of orden......what the hell.

The thing is as far as they take it away from the first book means if there is any success the later books are likely to be ignored.

I will buy it in any case and I guess jusge for myself.

I tried finding out on wiki but didn't. What exactly is the problem with Richard and Kahlan hooking up?

I agree...it's quickly become a show I have to watch every week now. :)

well if you really want to know...
its b/c while a confessor is in the "final throws of passion" she will have no control over her power and the person she's in love w/ will be gone only to become her mindless slave. which is why they wouild just choose a man that they thought would have good qualities to pass on and not marry out of love.

Also don't forget that the other reason which comes out later is that Confessors who have male children have to kill them (out of fear they will be corrupted by the power which is more powerful in men then in women) which they do through ordering their mate who while under the power will do anything the Confessor tells him to. Therefore it is felt that a couple in love would not have the strength to sacrifice a male child if they had one.

I disagree. I think the show has gotten better each week. One of my biggest complaints about the pilot episode was the acting; however, I think everyone has improved, just as I expected they would.

Why do you consider these episodes "filler"? I don't see this show being like Heroes or the like, where every episode ties together in one long arc. Why can't each episode be standalone?

I haven't seen any past the first two eps. I'll watch the rest eventually, though from what you guys are saying it's taken a sudden and big turn downward

lobo the show is still good, it just isnt the book, and dethwalker, it is suppose to be a long arc, its from a book, the problem is the huge detour the show has taken form the book, as a show it is good, it is just, way short of the source material. and to me that is sad, cause the book is much better.

I like both. But the show was doing a show. The itself wouldn't work very well as an episodic series, but I like what they've done with the show so far. I wish it was more hardcore. And by hardcore I mean more sex, nudity, and violence :D .

Tegan Presley is gorgeous :D . So loverly.

Well the books are always better, and since I've not read any of the Goodkind books I'll probably enjoy it...I hope. I'll get to it soon as I catch up with my movies. Tonight, Wall E is up :)

After seeing today's episode with Shota, I do have to admit that it is getting good. I already liked it but I think I am beginning to like it much more and the deviations from the book don't bother me as much since the main ideas are still there.
