'Sword of Truth' aka Legend of the Seeker

Probably because in the first book a lot of the first act and a good chunk of the second act is a TON of exposition by Zedd, Kahlan, and others....its basically a LOT of talking....and that doesn't make for good TV in a fantasy series....

Could you or someone post a link to this?? I had read he had seen the first 6 episodes before they even aired and he was OK with it....
if you go to his official site then go the the forum in there i believe the info on that is stickied. or was the last time i took a peak

There's alot of talking because it's a long book. But there is no more of it than any other. When it comes to explaining the power of the sword I could see a problem though, because new viewers won't know the full details until they watch every ep from the beginning or if it's explained over and over on the show. Aside from that I don't honestly see the "apparent" obstancles to making a faithful adaptation of the book. Even one faithful in spirit and intelligence would be preferable but that's not what viewers are getting with LOTS. So far all audiences have gotten is bad acting, crappy stories that make no sense and awful cheesy dialogue.

Just curious but my gf and I saw a few minutes of this one night and after awhile she was telling me that it seemed to be based off this book she loved called 'Wizards First Rule'.

Does anyone know if the show is worth watching?

I ask because after watching it for a few minutes my gf said she had to stop and said it was a watered down piece of ****.

I thought it looked alright for a fantasy television show but she said Wizards First Rule is more of a mature book and the show is watered down for kids.

Just wondering if it's still entertaining and worth it or not. I've been trying to find a few new shows to watch in my spare time since I'm getting burned out on Heroes and Rescue Me isn't back on yet.

Figs you'll like it if you haven't read the books, she is right though it is a watered down version of that story, good tv, bad interuptation.

Cool.

So it is an actual good show when not compared to the book. Like I said it looked alright to me.

Yeah pretty good all around, just deviates way to much from the books. go to the legend of the seeker official site and you you can watch all the episodes.

Good episode tonight. The Con Dar was amazingly effective.
The hero's mark on Rahl's face was cliche and the whole ending talk about their feelings was borderline lame and tired. It's like the third ep in a row we've had this discussion. We get it.

Haha. I just have to chuckle at your gf's reaction. Despite my similiar hatred I still think it's entertaining enough to watch in a MST3K kind of way. My suggestion? Why not just pick up the books and start reading them if you're bored? They're geniune bestsellers for a reason.

I'm assuming there was no Richard getting "confessed" and reciting the book ?

Oh...well in the book
Kahlan uses her power on Richard because Darken Rahl forces her too so she can command him to recite the Book of Counted Shadows(which Richard was taught to memorize when he was young. the book explains how to use the boxes of Orden) So she uses her power on him but Ricard is immune to it(they dont know though) so he pretends to be confessed and recites the book to Rahl but leaves out a passage and since Rahl thinks Richard is confessed and wont lie he believes him, and dies from doing it wrong. Its very clever.
I imagine what happened in the show wasn't nearly as clever.

Yeah. The new episode will be up by Monday. There's a website to find out what station shows the show in your area, but I'm too lazy to look it up.:oldrazz

Edit: What do you think of the show, LOBO?

Oh, i already know that it is on cw11, here @ 9pm :)

I'm glad I'm all caught up. I've never read the book (I believe season 1 is all based on Wizards first rule?) but just as a fantasy show, it's very good

No its not at all based on just the first book. For example Jennsen, who was for no apparent reason introduced in this episode, is not in the series at all until she stars in the 7th book. This show is alright but I cant get past how terribly they have butchered the books.

I can say for someone who has never read the books, the show is very entertaining.

I especially liked yesterdays episode, as it showed not all the D'Haran's are mindless evil bastards, and that the rebels can be just as ****ed up as the D'Harans.

How does Kahlan call up the con dar in the TV show. I am a big fan of the books but have never seen the series as it is not broadcasted here.
