The Dark Knight TDK Casting Sides

You know it's funny, the fake title given for this movie is Rory's First Kiss, you have to wonder what an aspiring actor who doens't know this is really TDK is thinking when they look at just the list of sides. They click on it expecting it to be a romantic comedy or teen comedy or something, and see roles such as Vigilante, Cop, SWAT Leader, Judge Salizar, etc. I wonder how long it would take them to realize it's Batman.

well, not to sound combative, Nolan usually writes all over the place in which theres a non-linear approach. He also has trademarks of having a flashback scene in the first 10 pages of a film. He also has a trademark of showing a "hand" somewhere in there too (someone holding a detonator on a ferry anyone?)

katsuro that same thing crossed my mind. You go on set thinking ur gonna see like Freddie Prinz Jr and freaking Bale in the batsuit shows up. How amazing is that?

its very hard, what to make of this? this reminds a lot of die hard 3. to be honest, theres no way the jokers final plan is as simple as blowing up 2 ferries, just no way. My guess is their transporting something, or their meant to be some kind of distraction.

Anjow, if I saw that I'd stop and cry no joke. I'd just stop in my tracks, sit down and cry. :(

1. the bank scene is jokers scene. chuckles n grumpy are maronis men and the joker hired them. the joker shows in the middle of the crime, kills them, takes the money, leaving everybody dead including some of maronis men, thus the police think maroni did it and use them as evidence. hes in the room with dent, being asked where the money is.

2. there is one ferry, and it just has a passenger section in it (prisoner ferry, passenger lounge). my guess is the prisoners simply take it over and the people inside assume their going to die

There seems to be tons of things going down, this is just one of many. It looks like Gotham's turning into a warzone. We've got mall's blowing up, hostage situations, robberies, drug deals, and obviously a whole lot more.

I know Nolan's style, but look at that list again. Literally, every page is a new scene. Honestly, do you really think they'll switch things up every minute? Even in BB, where things were scrambled from the beginning, it told a story and just wasn't moving to random places.

lol Batman11, i cried today. No lie, i read like the first leaked pages and started tearing up from happiness.

I think if I saw Bale in the batsuit, not to sound like a N*SYNC fan or gay for that matter, I'd die. Like litterally have a heart attack and fall over dead.

Hell I fainted when I saw the Joker card for the first time in the movie midnight showing.

I'm THAT into all this. lol

Well Excel....i know theres 2 ferries. Cuz they use scene headings differantly. Passenger Ferry and Prisoner Ferry. Why on God's green earth....or in this case, blue murky water, there are two ferries with those types of people on it is beyond me. But there are two ferries. Look at the diologue from the people talking about "the other boat".

Awww man you're lucky you saw the midnight screening, I would have died too. I saw it opening day though. Yeah today was amazing. After reading the banker scene, I find myself constantly leaning down and just saying "It's rude to stare." And then dancing around my house laughing maniacally. :oldrazz: Actually, in the teaser I'm gonna make, the line will be a bit refined to make it somewhat "funny" if you will." Here's how the last part of my teaser's gonna go:

JOKER: **Begins to giggle and then speaks in a soft yet sadistic voice** "Didn't you're mother ever tell you it's rude to stare?" **Breaks out into evil, insane laughter and then laughter stops as screen goes black** "Get the joke?" **GUN SHOT SOUNDS VERY LOUD and laughter returns slowly as the Bat symbol approaches screen.**

What do you think?

Whew. Okay, so I've finally read this entire thread... it took three hours or so.

1.) HOOOLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ****.

2.) HOOOLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ****.

3.) I love how everybody is kissing Mir's ass now. She totally deserves it, though.

4.) HOOOLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ****.

I was thinking, could this be a bit of an indication of a cut smile? I mean the way they talk about it, and the bank managers reaction to his face, almost seems like it. He seems to be described as looking very frightening, and i'm not sure if the classic Joker look could completely pull that off. Hopefully i'm wrong though, and it's just Ledger's natrually wide smile, along with his pale white face that leaves people that terrified of him.

I'm gonna assume that all the events take place in the evening, cuz well...it's Batman.

Regardless, Bob Kane said it best when he refered to the Joker once..... "There's nothing funny about a clown after midnight"

A very Gremlins-esque quote but still, I think the shocker for the Bank Manager is that even after this guy takes his mask off.....he's one scary mofo.

Yeah I must admit the thought was lingering in the back of my head. But then again, I'd assume seeing a ghostly white skinned dude with a freakishly wide grin is something you can't just casually look at.

Look, isn't the whole point of the Joker that he's one scary mofo?

He smiles, but it's not... a happy smile, really... it's a cruel smile. I assume that's what the guy was talking about. Joker's not funny... *especially* when he smiles.

I think the reading too much into things has officially begun...

I'm not sure about that bank job. "do you have any idea who you're stealing from? you and your men are dead" ... maybe he's stealing money that is Maroni's?

Does anyone else picture Nolan in their mind right now leaning back on a recliner with a martini and the Hype Boards on a nearby computer screen as he cackles and leans over to Jonah "Hook, line and sinker. They bought it" ???

lol

Wow, this is great stuff. Joker stuff seems seems perfect an I glad to see Maroni in the movie. I just hope Ganddelfini (sp?) is not the steriotypical mobster everyone has seen him as before.

Dude, I was thinking the exact same thing. Christopher Nolan just laughing it up: "Those fools! Don't they know the Nolans don't let you see what the Nolans don't want you to see? But seriously, we should probably get to work on the real script tomorrow."

Hey everyone, can anyone update me on the following.

-Audition dates for the Dark Knight?
-Do you HAVE to buy the script to audition?
-Where in Chicago will open auditions be held?
- Do you have to call in advance?
