The only thing I can remember from reading these posts is everyone seems to like Movie Mans avatar. What am I missing, what is so special about it?

It's too soon, they've never released a teaser this early in production. For Spidey 2, they started filming in January and we didn't get a TEASER until December.
I just don't see it happening.
Dragon said:Funny coincidence- I went to see MI:3 last night and saw a standee for Talledaga Nights. Apparently its a Nascar comedy starring Will Farrell? Definitely more exposure for a Spidey trailer with Supes.

I'm not buying that Sony would agree to put their teaser on Supes Returns myself. UNLESS WB paid them to do it. It would DEFINITELY help the box office for SR. Kind of a win-win for both probably, except I don't think Sony has to worry about hyping SM3 really.
With Supes Iconic standing, they (Sony) could see it as an opportunity to reach more non-superhero fans, as those might be the type that would go see Supes and possibly not see Spider-Man... although I think Spider-Man is catching Supes in that category with the success of SM1 and SM2.
I just don't see WB and Sony in such an agreement. I would think Sony would attach it to one of their own... in a bottom line $$$ move.

And- Let's be real. In 2004 Sony spent close to 300 million on Spidey 2 in terms of neg cost and P & A, and yet the film got skunked by Shrek 2. Spidey isn't infallible. Which is why Sony is making sure they get an early start on the summer of 2007.
Supes is as you mention an icon and will get the comic and non-comic audience alike, which is why Spidey would do well to be attached. Talledaga Nights will likely do well in certain parts of the country, but doesn't have the anticipation as SR. They want Spidey 3 to be seen as an event film, so attaching it to similar event films is a wise move.
TheSlag said:That's why your original statement, that Spider-Man teaser would be attached to Talledaga Nights did not make sense, unless one assumes Sony is trying to reach audiences that are not target audiences. Non Superhero film audiences (Talledaga Nights vs. SR).
I agree that SM3 teaser would get a lot of viewings if attached to SR, I just think Sony will attach it to one of their own, since it is the must see teaser.
Personally, I hope it's with SR, as that will be the sooner of the two. But I doubt it.
And Ghost Rider is an entirely different situation from SM3 IMO. Marvel/Sony is trying to build an audience for that film (good luck on that IMO)... SM3... has a built in audience. The people will be there. The risk, if there is, is that the teaser disappoints. Possibly becuase it was too early and rushed, and the CGI they will include in it.. not at the level we expect from SM1 and SM2.
Spider-Bite said:I think they would build more hype by having a descent teaser trailer with that will farrel movie instead of superman returns. that's at the end of the movie going season, to leave it fresh in everybody's minds to remember for next early movie season. the preview would be less forgotten this way, rather than having seen spider-man 3 preview followed by a summer of huge movies.
Maybe a family friendly small teaser with superman returns and then a either a better teaser or theatrical with the will farrel movie.
