Action-Adventure TENET

Bout time!

At this point anything with Nolan's name on it is an "event" film by default so...either that's a redundant descriptor designed to tell us precisely nothing, or this is gonna be something pretty huge even by Nolan's standards. Either way, I'm ready.
It’s kind of a paradox, because Nolan doesn’t seem to get much love from the film industry at all. At every ceremony I watched he was always the guy received the least applause and cheering.

If he does do a horror film next, I think he’s finally accepted that the Academy is never giving him the Oscar.

I don't think doing horror qualifies as a "giving up all hope for an Oscar" move. Especially for a guy who's done three superhero movies.

THRr:

"Sources say the plot involves a detective investigating the death of his wife."

[Michael Caine] You Were Only Suppose To Blow The Bloody Doors Off!

Did I waste my time reading this? That is the most insane movie scoop I've read in quite some time.

A prestige cast surrounding a porno-driven + mob setting, directed by Nolan? Did I fall through an alternate dimension??

I thought the same till I saw the date of their receipts. Nolan has mentioned being very fond of Boogie Nights. I'm kinda hoping that scoop is legit.

Maybe Nolan wants to make his own Clockwork Orange or Eyes Wide Shut.

Sounds to me he's remaking I Saw The Devil. :o

I, too, hope Christopher Nolan will branch out somewhat and go back to somewhat of a more story- and character-driven style.

Make it a dead husband at least... the woman trope is the one thing I’ll concede as a bad trope of Nolan’s at this point.

**** from Hans really felt out of place to me in Dunkirk. Scale aside, that whole flick honestly did nothing for me personally, he just felt like the wrong guy for it.
Yeah, gotta say I was seriously underwhelmed by Dunkirk.

Dunkirk did nothing for me, which really disappointed me as both a Nolan fan and a WWII buff who was excited about seeing something that hasn't been portrayed onscreen much.

The thing about Nolan wanting to assemble a big ensemble cast makes me confident this is more in the vein of Inception and Interstellar than Dunkirk. Dunkirk was great on a technical level but I probably won't ever watch it again unlike most of Nolan's other films.

I wonder what Wally Pfister is up to these days. In light of the film announcement yesterday, I am re-visiting Dunkirk and the photography is absolutely beautiful. Wally's director career crashed and burned. I don't think he can get back in with Nolan since it looks like Hoyte is doing a great job.

I wonder if Nolan's wife ever gets concerned by the dead wives in a lot of his movies.

I would say Dunkirk was a better film than Interstellar and The Dark Knight Rises (two films I don't ever bother rewatching).

Nah, 'Interstellar' is SO underrated, and I'm glad that Nolan went with the heart dor once.

All of Nolan's films are emotional stories of love, wrapped inside more conventional genre trappings. Well, except for Dunkirk, but that is still a film about the best qualities of mankind.

I rather love TDKR, Interstellar and Dunkirk. A lot like the Prestige, I forget quite how much I like them until I am sitting, watching them again.

Calling it now! Bald Nolan will make his first female lead movie.

Nolan doesn't strike me as someone who wants to be part of the Hollywood elite and I wonder if his comments about digital film making rubbed people the wrong way

Nolan at this point has mostly an impressive resume as directors go. An oscar would be nice to solidify his standing as a director but if he quit tommrow he would still leave a big footprint on the industry.

On a side note he does come off as someone who plays to both the indies and mainstream moviegoers simultanously and I think the oscars never know how to react to that.

Yes, and he has a great hit rate. I hope he continues at this level for many years.
