Don't let all the negativity bring you down.

I mean look at it this way, despite post after post of negativity there are a few of us that thought it was pretty good...plus, if you look at the poll, 80% of us on these boards rated the film a 7 or higher.

Exactly.

A rather positive review from www.spill.com
Overall Matinee

They said that the problems were more less the setting (Wars are not really interesting) and the script. They commended on McG doing a good job directing and their favorite part was the 3rd Act where it truly feels like a terminator film and not just some 'ol action flick

I'm curious how they got matinee overall when three of them said full price and the other guy said matinee

HOOOORAAAYYYY!!!! THEY CORRECTED THEIR MISTAKE!
It's at Full Price now....

That's all I wanted to hear.... In my eyes, TS was a flawed gem....
Good luck for the sequel... get a better script this time...

I just wanna say about Sam Worthington, excellent job I thought. I really hope this guy's film career skyrockets.

Wow, this isn't sounding very promising at all. I hope I enjoy it. I do enjoy crap sometimes. I hope it isn't crap though, but it's starting to smell like it.

lol , I don't see this being worse than terminator 3 . i watched t3 last night and it was alot worse than i remember.

Wow. I love spill, but they gave it a Full Price? WTF? I suppose in a general sense, the film is high in entertainment, which most audiences are looking for, and perhaps that alone can warrant a full price, but as a Terminator movie and a movie to rely on its story alone, I would think that would bring it down quite a bit.

Well, whatever. I wish I could hear the spill review, but I'm at work and I keep forgetting to bring my headphones or my backup speakers from home to plug into my PC. If it were me, I'd give it a mild Matinee. It's worth watching once.

WOW... 32% on rotten tomatoes!

I was really looking forward to this movie and expecting it to get at least in the 70's.

Guess lightning can't strike twice for a rebooting Bale...

Oh well... i'm still excited for it and hope I like it anyways.

You people are worse than the Star Trek TOS fanboys...
T1 and T2 can never be beat...
The best they can do is try much harder for the sequel
Give McG a pat on the back and point him to a good script writer...

^^

Yeah well I thought rewrites by Jonah Nolan and strong discipline from Christian Bale might have produced that ''good script'' already!

I'm going to wait for Transformers 2 to come out and when it gets a high rating from the critics. I'm going to e-mail a portion of their own TS review and ask them to explain their credibility as movie critics when a serious action film is rated higher than a stupid Michael Bay film about toys....

I bet these people will put GI JOE at 93% or something....

Also, word of advice to McG...
Next time, keep the sensitive stuff (Kate's pregnancy and that Moon Bloodgood scene) in the movie regardless of studio pressure... there is no where to go now but up

Could have also used some, "No fate but what we make for ourselves"

Haha:hehe:

We'll just have to wait and see, I guess:woot:

So Terminator is a serious action film and Transformers is a stupid film about toys, yeah that makes sense. I love hatred for the critics, way to be angry with people who get paid to try and let you know if a movie is worth your time. And I'm sure GI JOE will get 93% positive because lets face it only crappy movies like GI JOE and Startrek and The Dark Night, get in the 90's.

Oh and as far as the "No fate but what we make for ourselves" is concerned, it has already been proven a lie by the fact that the war is going on. It proves that fate is inevitable no matter what you try to do to stop it

Nope. They were rated-R.

Of course they were...Rishi's just saying that aside from the language and nudity, those films aren't hard R's, and do play more like PG-13...especially the lenient PG-13 that we have nowadays where they can very nearly get away with anything ("Cloverfield" is a very hard PG-13, IMO).

T1 and T2 aren't graphic in their depiction of violence really (aside from Sarah's nightmare I guess). The violence isn't gratuituous in quality (i.e. gore) though...there's blood, but it's natural and done with taste, as opposed to the first "Robocop" or other countless gore-fests.

@ Wiseman

Are you seriously comparing GIJOE to Star Trek and TDK?
You have lost all credibility there...

I'm not even saying TS is a good as those two (Actually it's as good as Star Trek but obviously Star Trek gets a better rep because... OMG!!! SPACE BATTLES!!!)

This film should easily be rated higher than T3 which had a Terminator with INFLATO BOOBS (tm) and TALK TO THE HAND (tm) as part of it's highlights. Also, Edward Furlong goes from badass teen to wormy, cowardly, sniveling moron Nick Stahl and then back to bat-voice badass Bale apparently....

No Fate still applies here because the future is never set.
The T-800 has been developed earlier than expected and there is still a chance they could win or lose the war. Nothing is set in stone...

That's the point... NOTHING is going according to plan... NO FATE...

One final thing: Does anyone think electro-magnetic weaponry could stop Terminators?

The comparison to GI JOE was sarcasm to your remark that it would get 93% on rotten tomatoes.:whatever:

I'm not going to talk about what T3 should've been rated because I don't care about that. It's irrelevent to the score of this movie.

And fate doesn't mean the day to day things. Fate means eventually it will happen. The message that we control our fate meant that they could stop judgement day from happening, all they did was delay it because *gasp* it was fated to happen eventually and nothing they did mattered. And as far as whether or not they win or lose the war, the original Terminator movies never said they won the war, in fact the war was ongoing when the Terminators were sent back, all we know is that John Conner was fated to lead the human resistence. There was never any implication that the humans were going to win the war. So we don't know what is fated to happen at the end of the war yet but whatever it is, it was always going to happen eventually, cause it's FATE.

G.I. Joe is going to suck, most likely worse than TS. But TS is nowhere near as good as Star Trek. TS is basically Fast in the Furious wrapped in with some Matrix crap, encased in bad acting and a director who makes Tim Story look like Martin Scorsese.

Why can't you blame the actors at all? I think you can blame all of them.
I just don't think they had much to work with. Shallow characters in a shallow movie. An Oscar-caliber performance wouldn't have improved on the problems with Bloodgood's character that you pointed out earlier. She was just laughable, from the point where she took off her flight helmet, to the end of the film.

I don't get what Bale was tapping into here. There were times where he sounded like Batman. I get this is a very grim and serious and f'ed up time, but he was just really off here. He couldn't show anything besides I'm going to whisper and sound really serious and angry. He didn't really sell any connection with Bryce at all. I didn't buy them as a couple.
His demeanor, the delivery of his lines, and the sound of his voice did closely resemble his Bruce Wayne/Batman. And yes, it did take me out of the movie a bit. But Batman was a far more interesting role than Connor. The main thing he's doing here is fighting robot monsters and trying to escape from danger. There's just not much more that he can do with that. The movie is what it is.

:wow: No really...
If you think that McG is worse than Tim Story then you must have murdered Uwe Boll and have James Wong's head on a pike somewhere...

Kinda agree with the Star Trek point though... it's more polished *lens flare*

That line appears in the film though. If you wanted the characters to discuss fate, I don't think that was necessary.

Star Trek is not perfect of course, but is better written, has more character development, better acting, directing, etc.
