Saw it the other night and it seemed like this could have been the finale to the series since they destroyed the place manufacturing the Terminators. Then that monologue at the end:cmad:

So was Kyle Reese mentioned in previous movies, or was this his first inclusion in the series?

Wow, yeah. :p Reese was in the very first movie and had a cameo in the Director's Cut of the second. :D He's a major player in the story because he's John Conner's dad and he saved Sarah's life in the first movie.

If you do you'll see how blah this one was. :p If you watch T2 be sure to watch the Director's cut. It's teh best.

Yo, I like this new John Connor character they introduced.

My two cents

This is Red Mask coming at you with my Two Cents. That’s right my Two Cents, because I’m not giving more for Terminator: Salvation. Save yourselves, brothers and sisters. The machines have come. Again. In PG-13. By Kitschy McG. He’s selling us his T.

It starts with the familiar music and lyrics. However, there aren’t any cursors at the end of those words. Are they really digital? Was the graphics department only born after Windows XP? I guess it doesn’t matter. It’s all shine. Lots of names for this game. Here we go to

2003. So we know of one guy before Judgment Day. He’s getting the needle while everybody else gets the Bomb. Whoopee-doo. Thank you, Cyberdyne. That’s Cyber ‘Dying’ because even their doctor’s getting something grave. Members get chrome domes. In the end everyone is screwed in

2018. Rise and shine. Despite all that shine it’s the dullest case of photo filters. They bleached it to hell, yet I think “Doomsday” had more color, and more blood. Maybe. They didn’t give an R to this T. I’ll give you a surprise at the end o’ this. So we get some action. It’s Batman with guns! Blowing in, breaking in, brooding in. Prisoners in cages add to the horror. Arnold’s coming, but not just yet! Everything gets shot to hell! We’re right there, in front of the screen as everything gets dusty and rolled around. Color is the same. We get maybe one or two Terminators, but they aren’t Arnolds.

There's lots of noticeable special effects with green screen sheen. But I’m not feeling this after fifteen. They show us the Resistance and I’m quickly feeling traction on this drama. Everybody’s a good soldier. A depressed soldier, but J.C.’s spreading the good word on the radio. He’s even banged one of Spider-Man’s girlfriends because he’s the goddamn Batman. Too bad he’s not Captain Power and Common, etc. aren’t the Soldiers of the Future. It would make this motley crew look more interesting. Young Kyle and the girl are poor imitations of Bat and Lin from Fist of the Northstar. Marcus is no Kenshiro, even though he’s sharp and can a hard dive. He does a good imitation of V for Vendetta after waking up. Maybe in the future Star Trek 2009 happens because I have a feeling Connor’s descendents will give us Chekov. Even those future leaders can’t stop inevitable destruction because time travel is a messy business. They’ve put us on a time warp with familiar things. But I don’t feel anything is necessary. It’s not like the AniMatrix side stories. This T must stand for Transformers because I’m seeing them soon enough. They even show us Scorponok’s tail from the first film.

So that’s it. My Two Cents. I left in under an hour - SURPRISE - because I don’t care what’s happening in this world of the T. It’s given to us by Kitschy McG, in PG-13.

End transmission.

And if you're listening to this, you are the Resistence.

And if you've read this, you are now 20 IQ points dumber.

And if you've read this, you are now 20 IQ points dumber.

So you did read it. And you watched the movie. That makes you more a sucker than I was for bothering with this film. The 20th century is over, kid. We all need to grow up.

And if you're listening to this, you are the Resistence.

No, I'm not. I'm a consumer who didn't like this stupid film. If you want to learn about resistance fighters read up on world history.

It was like a horror show, I couldn't look away.

And save your "wisdom", I didn't like the movie either. I just didn't throw a hissy-fit and stomp out of the theatre.

By the way, love the condescending "kid" comment. At least this "kid" doesn't write like a petulant 16-year-old.

How about we all drop the condescending remarks?

This movie was made like it was for children. I didn't stomp out of the theatre in a hissy fit. I was just bored. I pointed out what didn't impress me with this film. The first two films had great suspense. But nothing in this movie had anything new to offer for the Terminator saga. Or, precisely, it had nothing new to say that could significantly change its history. There wasn't anything new to give to modern science fiction. You were also condescending with that 20 point IQ comment.

I didn't dislike it as much as you did but I agree.

Yeah, I was. I have a real pet peeve about people that walk out on movies and then write reviews, and I was being a **** about it for my own weird amusement. Regardless, I apologize 100% for being condescending about it and jumping all over you. I'm home sick, feeling crappy, and being snarkier than usual. You just unluckily jumped into my cross-hairs.

At any rate, I pretty much agree with all of your points, so we actually do agree. I was just making it difficult for ya. Again, I'm sorry.

Ugh, the extended cut is horrible. The extra scenes add absolutely nothing to the movie. Actually, in my opinion all they do is disrupt the flow. The Kyle Reese cameo is cool to see, but I don't think it's really necessary, especially since the dream sequence that follows just makes the dream sequence later in the movie seem repetitive. Also, I don't think it was technically a director's cut. I was under the impression that Cameron prefers the theatrical cut.

Both versions are good IMO

Either way...it's T2 :word:

You know I really don't understand all the hate for this film. It's not bad nor is it a horrible film. In all honesty, and this is my opinion, I believe people went in with an agenda after hearing Bale's rant and already set it in their minds that they would dislike it or hate it because of that.

On the other hand I believe people went in with too high of expectations. I went in knowing it wouldn't be another T1 or T2. I went in knowing that Terminator related story wouldn't come close unless Cameron was involved. I went in without reading any spoilers, with no high expectations, and I came out very pleased with the overall product. Was there flaws? Yes, I did have some disappointments but they're so minor that it's not a big deal.

One of my main disappointments came with the time period they chose. I understand they wanted to show John's rise to leadership, however, this was something they could've established by just showing 2029 instead of 2018 which is the very beginning of the war.

Another disappointment I had is the inclusion of Arnold. It was cool and all, but I definitely would've saved it for a sequel. But it did make sense since the future was different than what John was told and remembered. But I still would've saved it for the sequel that took place in 2029.

I think it would've been really cool to see an assembly line of Arnold models and possibly see them engage in war too.

I've seen the film three times now and it gets better with each viewing. People that I know really enjoyed it and even stated "If you liked the first three you'll love this." So to be honest I believe this film is receiving unfair hatred and McG did a very good job in my opinion. I definitely believe he deserves another shot and with better writers he can make a great film.

So as I said, I feel people are just bashing it due to their own agenda, their own expectations, and already decided in their minds they would hate it since Bale had that outburst.

Or they just don't share your rosy-coloured view.

By the way, the people who told you that Salvation is as good as the first three? They're dead wrong.

It's their own opinion. They have a right to believe and like what they want, just like people have a right to enjoy Wolverine which I thought was more disappointing and didn't live up to its potential.

And it's not my rosy coloured view. I don't listen to critics and I went in with my own perspective rather than trying to "fit in". If you went in expecting Terminator 1 and 2 then it's your own fault for being disappointed.

Wolverine was far worse, I agree. Do you really think that critics made this many people think a really good movie was awful? No. It was a mediocre movie which was made worse by it's glaring continuity problems, lack of story and cardboard characters. People simply weren't moved or inspired by it. You can blame reviews, but I don't recall them hurting Transformers or Friday the 13th that much around here.

You're right, people shouldn't have hoped that the fourth film in the franchise would be great. They should settle for good enough.:whatever:

Didn't say that. I specifically said if they went in expecting Terminator 1 and 2 and were disappointed that's their fault. I KNEW this wouldn't be as good or better than any of those two films. So I wasn't disappointed with what I saw and I enjoyed it.

Transformers and Friday the 13th are two different mediums. Transformers was going to be huge regardless. Friday the 13th is a classic horror film icon that showcased a new, more vicious, and running Jason. Neither of those films are expected to be a masterpiece.

You're really grasping at straws there, buddy.:oldrazz:

I saw the film with the critics, before reviews hit the web, and really it wasn't hard to discern that the movie was a mess.

No, not reaching at straws I'm stating a fact. Transformers was going to be huge regardless of the reviews. Who didn't want to see giant robots blowing **** up? I know I did and it was great seeing my childhood come to life on the big screen.

Jason is Jason and Friday the 13th wasn't going to flop. If TCM, Saw, Hostel, and 30 Days of Night don't flop what makes you think Friday the 13th will?

Sounds like you're grasping at straws honestly.
