Thank You Tim Burton

I'm not exactly talking about how good the movies are. I'm talking about who it inspired. Yeah, they're pretty bad Batman movies but hey,Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 weren't exactly ripped from the pages as well and look what those movies did in BO money.

And, I think BB is the main reason there is so much dislike for B89 and BR. Some don't want to admit it,but whatever.:o I don't want to get in a huge flame war about B89 because I realise it has it's flaws and that it isn't a Batman movie. So I'm ending it at that. :o

I dont like the Spider-Man movies either, I feel a rant coming.....

And yes i realize that people picked up Batman comics because of the movies, including myself but theyre not good movies. And for the record i started hating the Burton movies long before BB came out.

Id like to thank Tim Burton for making those crappy Batman movies.

If you love BTAS, then you're an ungrateful *******:)

I do love BTAS. Because its actually Batman.

If it wasn't for '89 Batman, I wouldn't have read The Dark Knight Returns. That one-two punch forever killed the 60's Batman, which is the one that people outside the realm of comics thought of when you mentioned Batman.

I enjoy the '89 Batman movie and Batman Begins equally.

However, '89 Batman had the better videogame :D

I feel sorry you're unable to enjoy such good films then.

Thanks for everything you've done in movies, from the Batman movies, to Beetlejuice, to Mars Attacks to Ed Wood, to Edward Sissorhand to Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Sleepy Hollow, The Corpse Bride and Big Fish. I'm a huge fan.

The elitists complaining about Batman need to lighten up. Are they particularly cohearent narritive-wise? No. But they produced nearly as many awesome moments as Sin City and have the best look of any Batman films. Literally my only complaint about their style and look is that they were a little static. Burton tends to keep the camera a little more still than I'd like. But they're still a delight to watch.

You do know that the success of B89 and BR helped green-light BTAS?

If you could care less, you must at least care somewhat. ;)

Seriously though, I don't care that you don't like them either. Although I do find it unfortunate you can't enjoy what's generally thought to be a good film. Positive is better than negative and all that rot. :)

Yes.....I realize that, still doesnt mean I have to like the Burton movies considering they are two very different things.

More than I should.....:( Really, I liked them back when i was a kid, but that was before I really got into Batman comics and once I did, I lost interest. Maybe calling them crap is too much, but its not how I invision Batman after reading the comcis. And there are some tigns I dont like about BB too but overall its a lot more faithful to the characters.

Well, Burton made 1st serious and dark version of Batman, so I respect him as a director, who was trying to bring back Batman and he did it.

It's quite sad that you don't like them.

So accuracy to the character is more important than all the other aspects that make a movie good?

Do you really want me to list what I didnt like about the Burton movies, because I dont want to get into it. And im not sure what youre arguing since isnt getting the characters like one of the main things you should get right when making a movie adaptation?

No, I'm just wondering if you don't like it because you think it's a bad film or a bad adaptation of the comics. I made a thread about the subject even. :o

It depends. A character can be altered a great deal from the comics, and still work in the movie he's in. Blade's the easiest example to bring up; nothing like the comics, yet he worked wonderfully in the film.

Id agree but I think if they made Doom a lot more like his comics counterpart FF wouldve been a much better movie....wait maybe not.

Frankenweenie - Never saw it
Pee-Wee's Big Adventure - A Classic
Beetle Juice - A Classic
Batman - an unwatchable pile of dung
Edward Scissorhands - Parts of it are okay, as a whole not very good
Batman Returns - Crap
Ed Wood - Great
Mars Attacks - A bad film but I love it, mainly because I'm in love with those aliens GAK....gNAK ACK!
Sleepy Hollow - Crap
Planet of the Apes - unbelievable crap. I enjoyed the make up and Tim Roth, that is all.
Big Fish - Never saw it because it sounded lame
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - unwatchable crap
Corpse Bride - Never watched it because it's crap

No, I won't be thanking him. He simply got lucky a few times. He doesn't understand what it takes to make a good movie. He just likes to slap quirky imagery up on the screen, which can be fun, but he pretty much sucks the ass.
